by Pralaynath GendaSwamy on Sep 20, 2010 04:55 PM

European Soccer: Practice hard for 4 years concentrate on the world cup / Euro cup show your best.
Indian Cricket: Never practice at all. Either play endless matches with every series / IPL or go on ramp / shoot commercial. Exhibit how fusss you are in world cup.

"Namoona" is u not Sachin in every sense he is rightly termed as "God of Cricket" If you are man enough go and play like him rather than talking and criticising someone.

Why Virat is not there ? What Murli has contributed in past many matches ? I think Virat should have been in, in the place of Murli.

yes , you are right . We should select players for tests / ODI's based on gilli danda cricket played among club teams. your perception and understanding of this game is incredible.

Murali vijay is being forced on the team because of Kris srikkanth. just like was brijesh patel in the team due to some lobby.

Virat Kohli would have been better choice as he has got excellent temperament to play Test cricket like Raina. Murli Vijay has limited strokes. He is very poor when on back foot which is very essential to face Aussie pace battery. He was seen struggling against Peter Siddle in CST 20-20 last week.

Agree with you. Cant understand why some chaps are biased against Vijay. The youngster needs to be groomed. Was not Gambhir given a long run. Why even Sehwag was dropped when he didnt perform.Opener's job is not easy. It requires technique and temperament.

Mr Guest, did you see his batting? He has poor technique to face real pace bowling. In Test you will face unlimited pace bowling unlike 20-20. He has failed so many times in the past in Tests. India has many better batsmen than him but he has a God father.

He was more of a Test batsman than a T20 player. But not he has adapted himself to this format as well and on bouncy South Africa pitches has done well and drawn praise from Bishop, Gavaskar, Manjrekar and Pollock. Are you more competent than them? Stop commenting on selection of team. Selection Committee always selects the best available. A few may miss out since everybody has to fit in overall scheme of things.

Wrong. Murali Vijay has done well in tests whenever he has come in place of Gambhir or Sehwag. His technique is appreciated even by Gavaskar. Does it mean that Srikanth should not select anybody from his home state. Why no questions are raised Vengsarkar or Vishwanth were Selection Committee chairmen and many players from Karnatka and Mumbai were selected. Performance is the criterion. Can you suggest some other opener instead of Vijay?

Let us not argue. Murli will never get a chance to play in this two test series as Gambhir and Sehwag are there to open. I only wish he will not be included in odi team

So what's your problem if he is selected as a third opener as a stand-by in case of sudden injuries to Gambhir or Sehwag. Dont let emotions get the better of reason.

Axing of Yuvraj from the test team
by caruthedath gopalakrishnan on Sep 20, 2010 04:47 PM  | Hide replies

It's good that good sense prevailed on the selectors in axing Yuvraj and taking Cheteshwar Pujara in his place. Pujara should have been in the test team a long time ago. He has good technique and defence and should be groomed to take over the role of Dravid as and when he decides to hang his boots.

But one thing - he should tried and tested over a long period but should not be discarded just by his performance in one or two series.

in fact he should be groomed by dropping dravid permanently form the team and having pujara playing alongside the likes of sachin, sehwag, laxman.

Mr.Rao, This guy SURA does not have any logic in putting down DRAVID. He was bitten by DRAVID's dog when walking on the road. That day he took a wow that he will finish DRAVID. So he is on the job. Please take him lightly.
