Dhoni is great
by Ranjit Bisoy on Oct 18, 2010 07:50 PM

Coming in 6/7th position and still maintaining average of 50 is really great, any other captain will dare to come in down the order?

Dhoni is Best Player...?
by Vikram Bapat on Oct 14, 2010 12:29 PM  | Hide replies

We will get answer of this Question in this 3 days series?
Bcoz this time team will play without Sachin, Sehwag, Zahir & Bhajji.
Dhoni deserve to place TWO in ICC one day player ranking OR not.

Please open your eyes...

Dhoni's role in the Indian team:

His primary role is that of wicket-keeper.Name any wicket keeper of recent memory,be it KiranMore,Nayan Mongia,SadanandVishwanath,ChandraKantPandit,DeepDasgupta,DineshKarthik,ParthivPatel all were below average or just average..no one was excellent.Ganguly had to force Dravid to keep to extract batting out of a keeper.Dhoni's entry has made a great change,he is a good wicket keeper, even in the just concluded test match,Dhoni has seven dismissals to his name. Now icing on the cream is that,Dhoni is also a world class batsman !

So,we should not be too greedy to expect him score centuries every match. It is not a matter of bend behind the wicket throughout an innings and then give captain's instructions from the bending position and then come to bat.

Dhoni is an Obama time personality, they are good salesman and may not be the best factory managers. They encourage others to perform and they also openly criticize for poor performance.

He has three fold contribution with a level headed approach,in keeping, batting and captaining. So,relax and let him lead India to greater glories..another example of his good captaincy of CSK emerging as the top most team in world T20 format.
Dhoni is a smiling assassin and have the right temperament to be a successful team leader..only non achievers criticize others, let us not fall in that category...

but he does not keep well, plenty of time in crunch situation he drops a catch or do mis stumping

you will agree that all the names you have given above of past keepers they were surely BETTER keeper than dhoni if not good batsman

He has been injured for a long time. Many times has been writhing in pain while collecting balls. He diefinitely needs a break. Probably, Shewag's injury forced him to continue for one-day series.

Don't agree. Surely not a Kirmani, but was more than competent for most part.

Dhoni Vs Ganguly
by akash on Oct 14, 2010 06:24 AM  | Hide replies

I feel sorry but this can be true in India only. When team wins and Dhoni does not do anything, people say he is cool captain, he has midas touch etc. When Ganguly was captain and team was winning still he was blamed. he was sacked in the middle of the time when India was doing good. This is probably because Dhoni is from hindi speaking state. Utter regionalism. By the way I am not a Bengali.

hey Akash, now that you mention it, I do the same. I used to blame Ganguly for not leading from the front sometimes and I agree Dhoni doesnt seem to get the same type of blame. Maybe the focus is different, he is a WK and Ganguly was a batter first. People still view runs from WK as bonus and somehow dropped catches if any dont rankle in the mind as much. But I was hoping that he should walk in at three yesterday and try and attack upfront. In the end all's well that ends well.

Do you all know what is jealosy ? Jealosy is something like, when Dada and Dravid had declared the Indian innings when Saching was above 190's. Surprisingly, once when Sachin was at 196, and it was not at all required for declaration, Dravid had declared the innings. Good commentrators were surprised with Dravid's decision. Ok, Dada was good, as he did not waste time for a bastman's record, when India had a winning chance, but Dravid had done this purposely, when the test was almost in a drawn position, as he did not like Sachin making records.
This is a game of super politics. Look at Dhoni, he is also of the same mentality. We should be proud that Sachin is doing well for our country. Do not think about he makings records, think that Indian are making super records.

>>Utter regionalism
Listen, the issue is not regionalism. If you fall out of favour with the ruling coterie at BCCI or seen as a chela of the ruling coterie's opposition you are finished. Take the of Srikkanth and Shastri, accepted both failed with the bat during the Pakistan series of 1989. Both were axed as captain and vice captain and thrown out of the team as well. One series is sufficient to judge these two? No regionalism this, just the way BCCI functions!

Dada Comes to bat as opener or first five & that time team was doing just good.

Dhoni Comas to bat on Seventh position, even trying to go down itself. & now this time team is doing really great. almost evry batsman on form, except Dhoni. He played when only that time when other side player had century or double century. otherwise he also thrown his wicket.

Dhoni Bhai, its not just your losing toss that is hurting the team, its your keeping and batting as well. Your plans are working well though, the field placements, bowling changes etc are working fine. Do something to learn Keeping from someone who knows it and also your batting...!! Even Ishant Sharma has a better technique than you!

well done Ricky Ponting. Not only he personally did well, but also pushed the experienced Indian players to their limits. The one thing the Aussies lacked in the series was some experience in their bowling and for a lesser extent their lack of application by the batsmen in the second innings.
