by Dhiresh K on Oct 12, 2010 05:34 PM

Boss why i do not see CWG news on front page where as cricket is on front page.

Is it because they are paying for it thru PR agencies. Its time media should focus on other sports also.

by suryanarayanan ramesh on Oct 12, 2010 05:27 PM

Let us Hope, India wraps up Aussies 2morrow for a meagre total. India should B vigiliant on the last days match especially in the morning one hour by making Aussies all out.

If everything goes in Indias favour, Nothing like that in white washing the Aussies & in turn the Aussies will go into the 5th place not only that it will B a victory of Cricket & India, since Aussies R one of the best team absolutely no doubt.

All this happened because of Sachins knock, who rocks from the day 1 he entered into the cricketing arena to tiall date.

He is man of Hercules & Atlas, who shoulders the responsibility of Cricket.

Let us Have a Good Dream 2day of India winning 2morrows match.

Sachin facts in ODI

When ever Sachin scores a ton India losses ?
FACT:India has won 33 matches out of 46 when Sachin has scored a ton which is a whopping 71%

Myth: 2)oh is it ? but this useless player should have scored all his 32 match winning centuries against weaker teams like bangla/kenya/zim?
FACT: His tons have helped india win 9 times against australia.list is as follows -
australia-9, new zealand -5, srilanks-5, kenya-4, zimbabwe-4, west indies-3, south africa-3, pakistan-1 & namibia-1

Myth 3) : All most all of his match winning centuries were scored batting 2nd this choker cant score a run while chasing under pressure ?

Fact: Sachin has scored 17 tons while chasing a huge score & India has won 15 times (unbelievable 88 %).some of his most popular innings while chasing , the one against aus in WB series downunder & the one in sharjah, the innings against pakistan in wc

MYTH 4)May be this was long time back ,BUt in recent times whenever he has scored a ton we have lost ?
FACT:India has won last 4 matches out of 5 when he has scored a century (80%)

Myth5) All his Man of the match awards are useless? we have lost those matches like we did against aus recently !

FACT: Sachin has won 62 MOM's out of which in india has won 56 times (90%), & 8 times he got MOM award in the finals (Hold ur breath 100 % success rate, all were won) . All other so called indian greats combined have played close to 1000 ma

Anshuman, Aus had won 3 WCs under just bcos their match winning bowlers. India had never been a match winning bowling team. Understand that difference. I rememeber Chris Cairns of NZ once commented that "even my mom can captain this Australian team". So captaining Australian team with players like warne, mcgrath, lee, hayden, hussey, langer was not a great deal.

Great stats but as usual selective ones.

Can you give the following stats?
Consider the following factors
1. Its an agreed fact that performance outside home or in opponent's countries are far tuogher.
2. Rather than take stats per se, stronger ones in the era would be more reasonable. Meaning - SA, AUS, WI, Eng, NZ.
3. In factor 2, SL and Pak have been overlooked cos it partically contradicts factor 1 familarity of surfaces.
4. Value of performance should be evaluated directly to the end result of the game.

Now considering the above 4 factors, please give the readers "The number of times SAchin has scored a century in AUS, WI, NZ, SA or Eng against any of these opponents, and resultantly his team winning"

I will tell you the numbers:

And collate the number of matches he has played to get these nrs and give the percentages.

I see some guys(who are in a 0.5 pc minority), claim that sachin not good as Ponting. But Ponting had 5 good years from 2002 to 2007.And tendulkar?? 21 and going strong!! Even Bradman, viv richards, gavaskar have said that tendulkar is the greatest, so why should a few crib?? The remaining 99 pc of us worship him, as hes the greatest living Indian, and he has managed to stay humble after all these achievements, unlike complaining to umpires, claiming catches like ponting. Lara was better than ponting, but he ahd neither the technique and longevity of tendulkar. And did Bradman play anyother attack other than English mainly? Did he have to contend with 3 forms of the game?or pressure from 1 billion? Even great bowlers like Mcgrath, donald, warne have at various times said that tendulkar and then daylight! When all these legends speak, lets be unanimous. India is the worlds best team, and we have the greatest ever batsman.

Ponting is hi-class, maybe arrogant, but is better than Tendulkar
by C Kr on Oct 12, 2010 04:53 PM  | Hide replies

Here's why:

Ponting is not only a match finisher and winner, but also has been captain of Australia for several years. he can handle pressure well - captain's responsibility, plus all these years he's had the Australia team be way at the top
He also fields brilliantly and bats in response to urgent situations. Of course he too has over 11000 runs.

Compare to Tendulkar, who could barely bat as captain (oh too much pressure, stress!) and also was a lousy leader. Same when capn of MI.
Tendulkar is best when the going is good, stress free and no leadership required.

Other than the million blind Tendulkar fans, the rest of the cricketing world knows this. The rest of the world does not who he is anyway.

So think and learn.

This is not TRUE.

It is in the ponting ear that Australia is slipping to no. 5 spot in ranking. He was able to keep Autralia at top because he had handful of guys as maximum/consistent contributor.

Now the contributors are gone and so is ponting struggling. In his case too he cannot manufacture a win even though he scores.

is he ?

tendulkar is still the highest scorer in series...and his contributions will take india to victory in both games.

what pressure exactly did pointing play under, has he won australia the match ?..dint he fall for 8 runs in last match when his team needed it ? Tendulkar was the 2nd highest scorer for india then also...tendulkar made his 200 when the team had lost 2 wickets and needed it the most.

Tendulkar has performed many times under pressure, specially in ODIs..also the fact is that when he plays well the pressure goes off india..that is why it may seem like he is not plating under pressure.

I agree he isnt probably a great astute captain...but no one said he is...

btw pointing has a very strong team to back him up in last few years..just view his record in last one year since the greats in his team have retired...he lost to england , india ..
