balanced team for tests
by veerapuram dharan on Nov 22, 2010 02:23 PM  | Hide replies

test cricket is different from ODI or T20. the factors that determines the captain and players are different in tests than in other formats. i still wonder how come dhoni is still the captain for tests. as of now, only viru fits the bill as he is consistent in all the formats. going by the apolitical selection of team, the below should be teh team for test matches. dhoni told there is no need for a fifth bowler as if 4 bowlers cant do the job, what can a fifth bowler could do. going by teh same logic, if 5 batsmen cant do the job, what can a sixth batsman can do?

viru
gautam
dravid
sachin
laxman
praveen kumar/ vinay kumar
dinesh/ saha/ parthiv
zaheer
ishant
sreesanth
ojha/ bhajji

Your cricket knowledge is very evident by the fact that you dropped Dhoni from the team and included either of three wicket keepers out of which two are off form and one has pathetic record. Praveen Kumar can not be uses in the Test as he is one bowler who can only be tried in shorter versions because of his slow pace.

Dhoni's captaincy should be analysed only after the retirement of Dravid, Sachin and Laxman...I'm sure that Dhoni will struggle at that time (if he remains captain at that time)...At present, Dhoni is enjoying the team groomed by his predecessor Saurav Ganguly...I'm sure that Sehwag is the main invention of Dada as he only experimented Sehwag in the opening slot in tests...Before that Sehwag was a middle order batsman and he had never opened for Delhi (his Ranji team)before...So, to become Dhoni a proud captain, he should mould his own team and deliver something to the team...

These Guys like Dravid, laxman, sachin, zahir should have been slowly shown the doors and a phase wise induction of young blood should have happened in the last 3 years or else its going to creat a void when these guys leave the field..It never happens as we are Emotional Fools!!

Removal of Sourav was to benefit a useless ambitious dravvid. Of course he couldn't handle the responsibility and left pathetically.

It is reserved for Over hyped BaseBall, Basket Ball,
NFL( U S ), Rugby etc - all White domitnted Teams.
Australia- White, could Just manage one Laureus in 2002,

Great show by Rahul Dravid, wish him all the best.
by Geetha prasad on Nov 22, 2010 01:45 PM  | Hide replies

Great show by Rahul Dravid scoring 151 and still going strong, and we all wish him is another double century. Hope he finished with
200 catches which is a record by itself. We
would also like to wish him all the best being
elected as one of the member of the Managing
Committee of the Karnataka Cricket Association
yesterday with a very good majority.

Please go thro performance of dravid before comparing hem with Tendulkar or Lakshman, who are the icons not someone who is interested only in his own position at the expense of younger players. He cannot play fast bowling unless the fast bowlers have been blasted by Sehwag/Gambhir. Please keep him in Karnataka only so that he can push his son also into the team - at least for Karnataka!!!

But we want SRT record. Have you noticed no one cares abt Dravid century?

If this was SRT, there would be celebrations until January. Never mind who wins.
