Just 50,000 runs
by Anonymus on Nov 13, 2010 08:58 PM

"For the record, when on 169, India became the first team in the world with a cumulative aggregate of 50, 000 Test runs. And more than half of that belonged to just two players: Tendulkar and Dravid."

I was wondering, only these many runs??? if you add the runs scored by Tendul, dravid, gavaskar, laxman, ganguly, mongia, Kiran more, gambhir, dhoni, kapil, srikanth and Kambli, it easily crosses 50K runs... does that mean that others have been bowled out for DUCKSSSSS throughout... amazing facts

correction. more than tendulkar's. it is sunil's and shastri's for sure. Harsha Bogle to some extent and all those who are making Sachin as big gun for their survival. Poor Sachin, people are using his name for their money.

Viru needs to learn from Sachin of how to convert 50ès to centuries. Viru is a great batsman and a great asset of Team India. 20 yrs of international cricket and Sachin hunger for runs is unbelievable. No wonder Sachin is named Ambassadar for next World cup by ICC. Very few people can achieve what Sachin has acheived in last 20 yrs for Team India

it is not important of getting a century . it is the start from where india can build a big total. i dont know why u people obsessed with sachin's centuries. u please tellme how many times india won because of sachin. it will be less compared to laxman and dravid both who have played many match winning innings. for me india comes first and players comes next . even if it is a fifty that helps india to win it is more precious than a useless century.

@ Vijay..so untill unless one plays a big innings howcan India win a match? and for your kind info..Sachin has won more matches than both Lax and dravid with his 100's. Don't believe..then check his records at cricinfo and compare them with whoever you want to compare!

Dhoni should have used Shewag & Tendulkar's bowling ability as fifth bowler. But he is such a cunning ba----d he will not allow others to shine.

sir tendulkar and shewag are batsman and Dhoni as captain expects his bowlers to take wickets and batsmen to score runs. Its an added bonus that Bhajji can score a century to save a test match but then its batsmen who need to score runs and bowlers need to take wickets. Dhoni is the best captian INDIA has got after a long time.

I think S Raina under more pressure, he can't keep out much more technically correct Batsman like C Pujara and M Vijay from the playing elven for Long, particularly when they performed well in their last match and the Likes of S Badrinath, V Kohli and A Rahane scoring well in the Ranji, it's certainly a challenge for S Raina to keep his Place

Sunil you are right. People who don't know calibre of players should not be allowed in this forum. Suresh is a class talent, just like Virat Kohli and Murali Vijay. Its a pity M.Vijay gets a chance only when G.Gambhir is injured. But all these players are very talented and breathing heavily on Y.Singh's neck. Senthil you need to re-think.

so what if dravid contributed on the 50,000 runs.will u still keep him when he is 50 years old just for the reason u mentioned?anyways whatever it is on the basis of the current form he should retire gracefully before being kicked out.much more deserved plzyers are waiting

True but present Dravid indifferent form is a real worry, I don't know he can bat well or not, certainly I can't bet on him to score a Century, even though he scored a century in his previous Match on first day Fresh Track , now he have to play on the 3rd Day Track and we have to see
