Sachin vs Bradman...lets end this debate! sachin is gr8st ever
by vijay on Nov 12, 2010 01:51 AM  | Hide replies

There has been a lot of comparison whether Sachin is indeed the greatest ever. The following thoughts should end it:

1)During Bradman's era, there was no LBW virtualy(umpires gave less) . That means, out of 280 innings which Sachin has played, 67innings are LBW, 14 innings bowled..that means Sachin in those ocassion he can be not out.

2) Bradman much talked average of almost 100 was maintained bcoz he played only 52 test matches , had he had played more than 100 tests , as per law of averages, it wud hav come down to around 50 , so don't be fooled by avg of 100.

3) Bradman played one opponent mainly..England. Sachin against 10 countries and he has excellent records against each of them, with 50 plus avg against the best(aussies).

4) Bradman didnt travel to the subcontinent, so didnt play high class spin. In contrast tendulkar dominated warne, saqlain etc. Great player of spin, pace and swing!

5) Bradman didnt have the pressure of ODIs and 2020s.Tendulkar not only played record no of ODIs but also is the leading runs and century scorer. Mind boggling to go alongwith 15000 plus test runs

6) Bradman didnt have the pressure of 1 billion. In india, 1 billion pray that SRT scores big every time he walks out.

7) No media to rip Bradman. While aajtak, and other crappy channels blast tendulkar for any failure.

8) Tendulkar didnt have the support of a good batting order, and remember him playing with likes of somasundran, bharadwaj, noel david, ramesh,ss das and s

he may be the best for you , but i love to watch cricket when shewag playing.

i ask all sachin fans put hand in your heart and say, when do u watch 5day test match while shewag playing or schin playing?

real fact is we all watch cricket when shewag or yuvraj playing or staying in the field.

because they are match winners and they are not selfish and playing aggressively...

I love to watch when some one plays authoritative and some classic strokes. I may prefer Azhar, Laxman and yes Tendulkar.

To be more clear, I dont want to see batting of someone who looks as if gets out any time, lot of shots in the air and dropping in no man's land and many times getting beaten.
Some one who plays completely clean but demonstrates class.

Definitely but Match winner need not go after every ball. Sehwag has his style but Sachin has his own as well and Sehwag himself doesnt agree what you say.

majority of people except those for whom 20/20 tamasha is cricket will stop watching cricket the day sachin retire... looks like you are blind and deaf to have never seen people lined upto enter the stadium on days sachin is playing and stadium becoming mostly empty when sachin gets out... no other batsmen in the world enjoys that...

8) Tendulkar didnt have the support of a good batting order, and remember him playing with likes of somasundran, bharadwaj, noel david, ramesh,ss das and stuff. Bradman was part of invincibles, so batting was shared.

9) Finally tendulkar is a known partnership breaker..150 ODI wickets. A true genious indeed!!

10) Also playing for so many years and so many matches like Tendulkar is staggering. To survive the fitness aspect itself is awesome. Bradman had the luxury to play far fewer matches and remain fit. Tendulkar lost some avg due to fitness.
Bradman didnt play 22 years non stop but tendulkar is doing just that and that too with such consistency which is remarkable.

11) and in bradman's era fielding was very poor

I can see some people commenting on Sachin negatively. Some are with the names - target, Sunil Vaidya.
I have to say something to you - Guys, if you really don't like Sachin...its ok. He doesn't stop playing just because a couple of illiterates didn't like him. He transformed the face of cricket. In India, and in the world. Without him, there wouldn't be such craze for cricket. Yes, there are other great players...but undoubtedly he is the best. Ask any other great player... Ponting or Gilchrist etc.. they say Sachin is our favorite.
Frankly, its not about records - well now all records belong to sachin. All types or runs, boundaries, matches, 50's, 100's, highest scores etc. etc... everything. Cricket is Sachin and Sachin is Cricket.
Even if you cry your lungs out that sachin isn't good or he doesn't win matches, there would be no change. Even if you peel of your eyes hating sachin, there would be no change.
So I'd ask you to accept the legacy and unanimity of sachin in the game of cricket.

Sehwag is a replica of sachin... and they became match winners, 'coz of the strong middle and lower... During sachin's time, there was no such situations... agressivness is not only the important thing, but consistency is. making a hundred in 70 or 80 balls after single digit scores out of 10 innings is not comparable with consistent ~50 in each innings.. thats sachin..

yeah... i agree with u mister...
another thing is what, when sachin scored very well, team has lost the game.. its not because of sachin, butu other players didnt sopprt him. If you see the todays team stregth, there are other players, who can drag the match till the end and win the game. In past, there were no players were there to support. its not right to say that sachin plays for records, but he plays records come themself to him. And important thing is what, all these records were set now, not in past, which are base fr his records and indian & world cricket.

sachin vs bradman
by super hero on Nov 12, 2010 12:24 AM  | Hide replies

Bradman played mostly against England and mostly in England and Australia. Its like telling Sachin, that he will be playing against 4-5 bowlers in his career.
Yes Yes average above 100. Remember when Scahin is back from elbow injury, he went straight to england to play club cricket before coming to International crikcet and he made 5 centuries in 5 macthes.
Nextly,LBW's are introduced 9 years after Bradman debuted.
Lastly the most important thing, Each of bradmans series will span around 4-5 months. And they have 5-6 tour games before actual tests. In this generation, by the time Indian players adjust to the conditions, they will be playing their last test of the tour.If you see India performance in the last test of every away series, you will know what I am speaking.
So, from the given facts you cannot compare them.No way Bradmans feat is more than Tendulkars. They both are legends.

The writer says "But if Bradman had played the same number of Test innings (Tendulkar has played 280 to Bradman's 80), he would have finished with something like 100 hundred, given the rate at which he scored them,"
The real question is will he make 100 hundreds in tests, playing 450 ODI's parallelly and making 17,000 runs ? That basically gives him practically no practice games, and he has to switch gears from Tests to ODI's and ODI's to Tests constantly. People are forgetting one thing here, sachin is also the best ODI player apart from his heroics in Tests. What d

IPL and Sachin
by super hero on Nov 12, 2010 12:23 AM

When a cricket series happens, all the money goes to the host country.
So every cricket board is begging India to come play in their country.
They will reciprocate by playing more matches in India.
India bailed out New Zealand and Sri Lanka boards out of debt with just one tour.
So in essence the money is coming from India and is being split even bewteen India and
other countries. So BCCI, came up with IPL to solely capitalize on the cricket craze of billion ppl.
So if IPL grew and played for 6 months, all the Indian 'Cricket Money' stays in India.
This will surely affect the meaningless short ODI's series' and other cricket boards.
But we wont be at loss. Last year BCCI split the IPL income 25 cr each to 25 state boards.
Expect it to double this year.Double it again if u add the income from other matches and Champions league.
Where do u think the money is going? For building infrastructre and to the players.

Bcci wants sachin to play IPL,CLT than anything else

Infact Sachin/Dhoni stand to loose money by playing these tournis.
They have to represent 5 or 6 brands for just 1.5 million which is far less than their usual price.
This will also bring their brand value down. They already voiced their concerns and BCCI said it will look into it.

How much credit will u attribute for a ODI macth against Bangaladesh,
where Sachin makes 100 in first innings and India make 250-270 and
India win comfortably?
I would guess not much credit to it.
Flash-back to 2007 world cup match, Ind vs Ban , India lost
that resulted in ousting out of the world cup.
India made around 190 and Ban chased it in about 49 overs.
If Sachin made a century in that match, it would like the case
I mentioned above.
Bottomline, every century he made counts irrespective of
oppenent, ground and first/second innings. You will know the value of the
innings only if it never exists.
But players,selectors/commentators know that value.Thats why they
redgard him as the greatest player.
Clueless ppl can keep barking that he cant win matches.

Strange condition i n Indian cricket is while Sachin bats at No.4 in Tests he must open the inning in ODI for India irrespective of the fact that there is a specialised opening batsman in the side. Actually best slot for Sachin should be No.4 only in ODI as there was no instance on record that he carried his bat up to 7 or 8 down by opening. Why this pampering for this cricketer only in our Country?
