Its nice of King Viv to offer help.. But practically, when india has players like SRT, dravid and VVS.. why hire Viv all the way frm windies..???
I'm sure as far as modern day cricket is concerned the BIG 3 can teach our batsmen way more than what Viv can teach them...

he can perhaps start with coaching of the new lungi team for IPL-4 season which was resp. for IPL fiasco....otherwise he will replace our indian rankings in ICC with WI rankings...

I don't subscribe to what you say. 'King' Sir Vivian Richards is hailed as the most destructive batsman of all times. He played super fast bowlers without helmet on quick pitches and came out the champ always.I have personally seen him and he was a cut above the rest. Mind it the 1970s and 1980s had some of the fastest bowlers of all times and each of them rated him as the best they bowled to.
His offer if made should be accepted for he is genuinely interested in helping India and many of current Indian players and Gary Kirsten hail him as their idol. He can show what aggression is all about and how to play quicks on fast tracks. He can taken on a 6 months basis and results can be definitely had.

"India is no 1 test team, and 2nd ODI team in the world" till we play our next match. With our present performance there is no hope that those positions would be retained. Like the saying, "Success - Easy to get, Difficult to retain."
in the last 15 yrs india have seen some really good batsman sachin: greatest among all of them sourav: god on off side,at his prime (1998-200 2),he has played some brilliant knocks for india, 144 vs AUS on seaming pitch at brisbane was special, had short ball problem during his captaincy but came back well
dravid: best test batsman for me,better than even sachin, has avg of 60 plus outside india in tests
laxman: wristy classy player,vs AUS he has been special, but has no 100 in ENG,SA in TESTS,also not that good in odis
veeru: indian viv richards, looking for a 400 in tests from him soon
pull is not the only shot u use against bouncers upper cut over the slips nd over the point on the off side ,something which ganguly uses frequently to play bouncers nd short ball on the off side,as he is not a good puller,he uses that shot sachin, dravid r good pullers so they paly it well laxman is also good puller veeru also uses the upper cut shot against short pitch balls
I could only see highlights from before 80 era when almost all batsmen used to play w/o all the gaurds. They still managed to score against bouncing stuff (Gavaskar, Kapil, Amarnath, English and Australian players). Dpn't understand what has happened to present day cricketers becuase 'deadly' pacer species existed earlier also !

True.. and considering technology advancement, current bunch shold be able to play it more neatly...
We had Wadekar/Sunil Gavaskar/ Vishvanath/Amarnath/Vengsarkar/Sandeep Patil/Kapil

U have to understand that how money balls they took make one single pull, gavaskar perhaps one in 50 balls.... but we are talking about 20t, where you have to make runs in each and every balll...
Its a lie. Indian batting was greatest when we had Tendulkar, Ganguly and Dravid. What players they were, best, but players like Raina, Yousuf Pathan, jadeja, rohit Sharma, they are mediocre

BIG 3,laxman,veeru all r great players ganguly had short ball problem, but only when aimed at his ribs, from 2003-2006 after his comeback he looked very comfortable in TESTS
Vivian is a good player. His cricket brain is sound he should be included as a batting consultant. His colegue Haynes did not find favour with indian team he was more correct than vivian both were good players for thier sides.fee will be a factor for selection of coach.
Richards is Smart now. He knows which is the richest cricket board of course and pitches in at the right time too.
But is it smart for BCCI? Definitely not. Because, if you need someone to train on how to play Short pitched stuff, and that too from an Indian Perspective - We have M.AMARNATH, GAVASKAR, G.R.VISWANATH, DRAVID. Use them first. Not Richards. He is one of the most destrutive batsman,no doubt about that, but we have no dearth of experts to handle this.

the problem with gavaskar is.... he would like to teach only marathis... in that case sir vivs is better

Raman:
Hmmmm... looks like you think Gavaskar did not coach you personally just becoz you are not a marathi, else he would have hailed you as the best player in the world? :)
What stopped you from being coached by Sir Viv, in that case? :)

Gavaskar is best at facing short pitch bowling.......but he had tremendous judgement of how to leave the bouncing deliveries....We cannot do that in T20 games....We need expert advise of how to be agressive against short pitch bowling and Viv Richards can help us Ofcourse he wants to earn millions from Coaching India but then in the Bargain The Indian team will be more aggressive in its technique to face short pitch stuff...he shud be given a go for atleast 1 season...its worth it.
