India lags behind others
by Jay on May 14, 2010 07:48 AM  | Hide replies

It is evident how Indian cricket team is far behind others, especially in T20, where others have easily cashed in on the weaknesses of the team. Performances in Tests are mainly due to the consistent performances of Dravid, Tendulkar, Laxman, Sehwag and Kumble. Gambhir also added to that strength in recent times. Often we have outbatted others with the kind of batsmen we have. But in T20 and ODIs it is a different story. The young batsmen are flat track bullies. At least IPL should have been played in fast bouncy tracks. Then at least the team will benefit by playing along side strong international players. Else someone who hits Nannes or Steyn in flat pitches will be a sitting duck in pitches which offer some bounce.

I think Yuvraj is one to be necked out immediately followed by Bhajji and MSD

lack of strike bowlers, atrocious fielding, unfit players andscandalous selection as inform players like Ozha,ManishPandey etc. were not selected and selectors chose unfit bowlers like PraveenKumar.IPL too contributed as players have no time to rectify shortcomings against sort deliveries.

I wonder why Tendu did not play in this IPL. His presence only would have helped India alot. That Johhny is one unlukcy chap who has not won a WC for his country other being Lara despite having all the records!

India HAVE MANY 'IFS' AND 'BUTTT' that saves the wrong PEOPL
by E darwin on May 14, 2010 06:13 AM  | Hide replies

Kirsten is preparing 'ifs and butts'

THEY WONT fire a bad captain DHONI, Pakistan would have DONE IT LONG LONG AGO... INDIANS are blind. THEY HAVE MANY 'IFS' AND 'BUTTT'

....THAT IS WHY PAKIS ARE IN SEMIS. good job paki guys.... even if you are not lucky with AUZ who have Holland Pacer Nannes as well that bought them to semis and some IPL players.
Even england has holland origin SA player petersen.

Dont want to blame the rest of india 10 players when management forces Dhoni upon them. Babuas blasting diversionary message on all sites confuses people more.

In such enviroment, yeeha coach thoo india kooha long ride phaar lheey jaayegaa

Dhoni has the backing of commercial houses. Money power will ensure that he will remain irrespective of his performances. If it was some other person as captain, Sachin or Dravid, they would have been forced to quit after a loss. We have seen that in the past, even Kapil's captaincy ended with a semi-final loss in World Cup.

Immatured player and captain
by siva kumar on May 14, 2010 06:03 AM

Dhoni was immatured to take over as captain. Captaincy was thrusted upon him by default.
The funny thing is that his maverick and illogical decisions on the field so far has succeeded by fluke and hence no one could question him.Worse he was glorified for taking such unconventional unconvincing decisions as he was succeeding.
But such decision making only based on self instinct without adequate reasoning will not succeed continuously.
As his luck has run out now he stands exposed.
Thatswhat is being seen now.

Bikash's views
by Dilip Mahanty on May 14, 2010 05:16 AM

Some of the points raised by Bikash have validity. However I am not sure about his putting Harbhajan in the same"basket case" as Yuvraj and Gambhir. In 20-20s with 4 overs to bowl wicket taking is difficult.Harbhajan has bowled tightly in the tournament as his analysis would reflect. The same cannot be said about the other bowlers. The selectors made a mistake of not picking "lean and hungry"Ojha,Ashwin,Kohli&Rayudu.Instead they selected players who seemed satiated with what they have achieved so far.Yuvraj is a case in point.Throughout the season he has been a failure.Yusuf Pathan did not have the technique to handle pace.Jadeja was cotton balled through the ban and was rusty.Zaheer was injury prone and was not fit.Nehra has oscillated between zenith and nadir throughout his career.
Ishant Sharma deserved selection, despite recent failures, because he could have exploited the pace & bounce of WI wickets especially in Bridgetown.
Some Indian players seemed indifferent to wearing national colours.Quickly acquired wealth and high life has distracted them from the very source which provided them monetary success-cricket!Dhoni,obstinately, stuck to the same lot as well as to the notion that chasing totals was better than batting first.
Finally the fielding! With only 3 in the team who could cover grounds swiftly easy runs were given away! Why is it that Indian bowlers are not athletic? Not so long ago we had the

T20 Failure
by Dilip Mishra on May 14, 2010 04:59 AM

Why is Pathan, Yuvraj Sing and Harbhajan Singh in the team. Dhoni has always been too arrogant, but no one realized because India was winning in tests and to some extent, one days. The guys like Rohit Sharma is happy with money he gets and Gambhir as also become arrogant. There is friction in the team between Dhoni, Sehwag and Yuvraj. The list is endless...

Don't worry. We have one T20 World cup per every year. We can try many permutation and combination.
