If WI use Short balls then Indian Batsman will easily pull
by Senthil on May 09, 2010 02:32 PM  | Hide replies

India scored well off the Short Balls against the Genuine Aussie Quicks (48 runs in 33 balls and 3 wickets). So it doesn't matter.

Indian batters got out for stupid shots and lost in the speed. After long time they played in slow pitches didn't help.

Today Indian Batters will correct their mistakes and WI doesn't posses genuine quicks like Aussie.

I Hope India will take revenge of their last year Exit

Senthil:

Hopefully you have by now realised how "average" our batting is, given that they managed to get out even against the poor bowling attack of the West Indies.... :)

Hope we do slightly better when we meet Afghanistan again (praying that their bowlers don't bowl short balls against our great batting lineup).. :)

For LG

Mr LG, all your abuses will get you nothing.

Mr LG till you understand and accept the truth you are destined to suffer. Nothing is greater than truth and those who refuse to see it and accept it have no hope or escape. Remove the blinkers that you have put on your eyes and try to look beyond sachin. Sachin is not the ONLY great player in cricket. There are many others. Recognise the greatness in other players also. Dhoni is one such player. You preach that you should respect greatness and abhor mediocrity. Sadly you do not practice what you preach and do exactly the opposite. You take pleasure in calling dhoni (who is great) ‘mediocre’. Dhoni is the best thing that has happened to Indian cricket in the last 5-6 years. He is a person who is fearless, takes great pride in performing and winning, a very good captain and person, a perfect team man, straightforward, encouraging, respectful of others and receiving respect in return, a person with integrity, a person who keeps away from politics and regionalism. His performances in difficult/pressure/crunch situations are amazing. In short Dhoni is a WINNER.

LG, You say Losers remain losers until death because they do not know what is wrong with them, so never listen to what majority of people think or say. For them getting attraction is the sole purpose of their lives. LG, you are describing yourself here

LG, firstly my credentials and what i have achieved or not achieved in my life is another issue. Secondly dhoni has never been stealing anybody's credits or basking under glory of others. He has achieved quite a lot in only his first 5-6 years in international cricket (much more than what sachin had achieved in his first 5-6 years of international cricket). It is sachin who is stealing credits and basking under glory of others. of course he is not to be blamed because he himself has never done that. It is blind and fanatical fans like you who have done those things on his behalf, without asking for his permission or telling him. (One can only imagine how ashamed he is of fans like you, he must be feeling what steffi graf must have felt like when one of her crazy fans stabbed monica seles.) Also i have my own opinions and have expressed them on this forum from time to time. Also the question of invitation does not arise, because once you have posted something anybody is free to reply to it.

Let me also give you some stats about what dhoni has achieved. You have often said that it is because of no. of not outs etc. that dhoni has a good record. Let me point out to you that Dhoni has scored more than 5000 ODI runs over a course of about 5 years and he has scored them at a rate faster than sachin. sachin took 141 matches 138 innings to score 5000 odi runs with 11 100's and 31 50's. Dhoni took 152 matches 135 innnings to complete 5000 odi runs with 5 100's and 34 50's. So inspite of the fact that dhoni bats more often at a lower batting position and sachin has played at the opening position many more times than dhoni has, dhoni completed 5000 runs playing 3 innings lesser than sachin. If inspite of this anybody wants to say that dhoni is no good, he has either very poor cricketing knowledge or he is insane. The number of times dhoni has performed in crunch situations in amazing and in that respect he is far ahead than sachin.

whenever he has batted up the order dhoni has scored very well. while batting as an opener (2 times), one down (16 times) or 2 down (13 times) i.e. a total of 31 innings he has scored 1825 runs (about 60 runs per innings!) with 3 centuries and 15 fifties with a strike rate of 100 runs per 100 balls. whenever he has come 1 down (not a very big difference between opener and 1 down) he has scored 993 runs in 16 innings with 2 100's and 6 50's. So your contention that dhoni will have a bad record batting up the batting order is nonsense. dhoni has proved time and again that he can bat at any position and score well with a good strike rate. On the contrary sachin could achieve so much in ODI only because he opens the innings. whenever he has batted at the position that usually dhoni comes sachin has failed. for example, at fifth position dhoni has played 38 innings (9 times notout) making 1560 runs with strike rate of 85 runs and 3 100's and 7 50's while sachin has played 36 innings (8 times notout) and scored 797 runs at 81 strike rate 0 100's and 5 50's.

Common Sunil.... how can you question the credentials of the God of our religion.... at 36 he scores a double ton to give a reason to cheer for millions of fans... and more than anything his talent is for you to see when he plays rather than what the records suggest..... the best thing is that I have never seen him boast or even react to his critics.... give him a break... he is way beyond our comments... he is one who comes once in a century.... we should feel lucky that he was gifted to India. He didn't seek ti become the captain once he realized that he can win matches for India only if concentrates on his batting.... I wonder how much more human can he be to satisfy you

soumitra, i am not questioning the credentials of sachin, i have never said anything against his achievements, i have never said he boasts or reacts to his critics. i am not asking anything more to satisfy me. I am only after truth and i post only the truth. if you read my above posts carefully you will see that i have said that i don't blame him at all, i blame all his blind fans who think that it is necessary to degrade/slander/demean all the other players so that sachin can be shown above all. For that they refuse to acknowledge the performances of other players and abuse them ruthlessly. They are loath to share the credit of an indian win with anybody else than sachin. so whenever somebody other than sachin performs well and these people see that, that player is running away with glory these blind fanatics see red and go berserk. They come out with their tooth and nails and try to rip apart that player. i don't hate sachin at all, but i do hate what he has come to mean now. the word sachin meant something different 10 years ago, what it means today is something very evil. today the word sachin has come to mean intolerance, demeaning others, not appreciating performances of other players, calling anybody who says a word against sachin as idiot, moron, porki and what not. as i said before i don't hate sachin but i do hate the monster that these fanatical persons have created out of sachin.

Who do I cheer for today?????
by Soumitra Mukherjee on May 09, 2010 01:54 PM

Well I am not so skeptical about the dignity of the Indian players (there is simply too much rumour about match fixing. Anyways more people would have bet on Australia to win. how can it be match fixing then??? They are still a damn good team, where players like Bollinger are waiting in the flanks...) I think the Indian players are just losing focus in their urge to make more bucks.... the likes of Michel Johnson who turn down IPL offers just to concentrate on the game for their country's sake ought to be learnt from

As a Capatain of Indian Team Mr. Dhoni is good, Unfortunately all the players is not showing solidarity about our cricket. The want to make money. Now days matching fixing a regular game for cricket. Everything is not coming out for public. I think all the Indian cricketers is involved matchfixing. BCCI supporting this wrong attitudes. Now cricket destroy all our other sports.. Govt.of India just open their eye otherwise our countrys sports will be down soon.

I am sorry to say Mr Nair that Dhoni is a brainless idiot thriving on the exploits of Sewhag,Gambhir and Tendu-lkar. Why did he play Jadeja against the Oz? Why did he himself fail with the bat?

Why does it get down to the NRR
by Soumitra Mukherjee on May 09, 2010 01:32 PM  | Hide replies

I think MS is quite content to win the IPL.... enna Sir?? at least a 165 odd against the Australians would have kept the chances alive... only 2 batsmen in double figures, with 14 being the second highest score from the Indian lineup (& that too from Bhajji)..... 42 for 6 in 9 overs..... well at least there seems to ample scope for improvement before the next World Cup

I think it was case of match-fixing.Indian players, barring Tendulkar are greedy for money and will sell their country for a few pieces of gold.
