D/L Formula
by Subbachar ramanathan on May 05, 2010 09:12 PM

matches cannot be won on a mathematical formula. the full quota of overs has to be bowled. not even a single ball shall be missed. if the weather conditions are not favourable dont proceed with the match. equal oppurtunities only can decide which is a better team. this duckworth/lewis formula is a bullshit.

D/L Method
by Venkat Raman on May 05, 2010 08:25 PM

It was heart breaking when I saw match between England Vs West Indies. Where in England scored 191/5 in 20 overs and rain stopped the play. With the D/L method the matched was shortned and West Indies has an easy target. All the English players were literally crying of the field. Please change the D/L method for T20 game. By the way who is this Srinivas Bhogle brother of Harsha Bhogle? Why Bhogle's are always behid cricket?

Why to keep matches in rainy season? Or why not refer to weather.com before fixing the schedule.

if only our lives are that simple... (ala see ball; hit ball)

actually, think of it... so many of us wouldn't have anything to do if weather and lives' events in general are so predictable.

its the thrill of the unknown that drives humans...

my method to calculate runs to be scored in T20 rain affected sit
by venkateswaran venkateswaran on May 05, 2010 05:22 PM

I have an idea! Say if only 6 overs are possible, then the target can be arrived as follows.
Sum of 3 overs of highest runs conceded 3 multiplied by the average runs per over conceded 1.
Say runs scored in the top 3 overs for the batting sides are 15 17 20=52. Team score is 160 runs in 20 overs. Then the average runs per over is 8 which is to be multiplied by 3. Totally 52 24 1=76 runs to be scored in 6 overs. If the available overs comes as odd number say 7 then take runs from 4 best overs 3 average overs.
