I am surprised that Raina at this stage is compared to a legend like Ganguly, who was Indias best ever captain, and also had 10000 runs in ODI's. ANd dont forget the fact that he amde his debut in 96, when great bowlers like akram, ambrose, donald, mcgrath were bowling and inspite of that averages 40 plus in both forms. CAn anyone forget his 136 on debut in a seaming wicket in England. Raina has hardly toured NZ,eng,Aus so unless he plays fast bowlers there, lets not hype him. Millions of youngsters can play on flat pitches.

Look,Ganguly was never known as best batsman against above mentioned Fast bowlers. He was mediocre. His captaicy tenure was supported by sehwag,Dravid,Sachin,Laxman. It was Laxman who saved his face by playing inning like 281.It was Dravid who wall, but his own records started to deteriorates. His average start falling from 53 to 43.He was Lucky Captain.

I remember watching Ganguly hit akram through the offside multiple times in series in 1999. Sure he has a problem with the short ball, but so does every single batsman in the world, including viv richards. I cant understand why when Sourav wins, he is called lucky. It was he who pushed for yuvi, bhajji and sehwag in the team and they are all greats now. Such captains are rare. And dont forget he missed a lot of tests due to politics, else he would have been a 10000 member as well.

Absolutely.. I dont think Dada played well against the quality bowlers mentioned above.. His best innings was in Brisbane apart from the great debut he had.. He surely is the best leftie in India.. But only because there s not good enough challenger..
Akram knows that he can get a extended stint with KKR for next IPL. Hence he is comparing Raina with Ganguli Dada as the best and not with anyone else. Indirectly he is saying that Ganguly is or was best.. lol
I dont think Raina s the best young batsman.. Defenitely, he is the best hitter of the cricket ball.. But therer is huge difference between good hitter and good batsman.. He need to tighten the defence and get balance between attack and defence.. Good to see him looking to the seniors for inspiration and trying to learn the art from the greats... He is defenitely in right direction.. May be in 2 to 3 yrs, what Akram says may come true.. Lets hope!!!!

I partially agree with you. B'cos raina is not only hitting the ball well but he is very good at rotating the strike...

Now Ganguly in 37 and Raina is 23, how can you compare a new guy with some one played for India for a decade
