Insane debate
by ben banerjee on May 04, 2010 11:31 PM  | Hide replies

A man has scored close to 19000 runs in both Test and Odi's. He has taken 100 wickets in ODIs. Is the most successful captain to lead India. Is the 2nd highest scorer for India in all ODIs. He is the 4th highest scorer for India in all Tests. Is the 2nd highest century maker for India in all ODIs. Has scored 16 Test centuries as well. Has played in over 100 Tests and over 300 ODIs. He has played international cricket for 16 years. Raina on the other hand has played in 90 ODIs and 0 test and scored around 2000 runs. But I guess Sourav was just plain lucky to have these numbers. He was just standing around and runs were gifted to him..............ARE YOU SERIOUS??? Where's the comparison? Raina is not even close. You know whom you can compare with Ganguly, Gautam Gambhir (as a prolific left hander)......not Raina. Raina is a kid....how can he be compared to a legend?!?

HAHA..

All your stats are good but you miss the point at the end. Saurav had no record against his name when he started his career, just like Raina.

Tell you what...Raina is looking lot better then Saurav, when Saurav was at that point in his career. If he gets political support that Saurav got in Dalmiya and goes on to play as long as Saurav did, his record will be lot better then Saurav.. Saurav is not Legend

All these Saurav, Sachin, Dravid are selfish players. They have played themselves only But Dhoni, Raina, Yuvraj are true match winner players

surprised about comparision comment
by Kabadan Y on May 04, 2010 10:09 PM  | Hide replies

Why would Akram wants to compare Raina with Ganguly...is it bcos both of them are lefties? I think they are world apart in their way of approach and even shots. Or is there a clue that both struggle against rising deliveries? Raina is a fantastic cricketer with a thinking brain.

Correct, Ganguli Scored only in dead pitches and in India only except Lords
KKR did not qualify for the Run Rate and Ganguli Strike rate was 117

Raina can hit only in the mid wicket region....
by Kiran Kumar on May 04, 2010 07:47 PM  | Hide replies

Raina can hit only in the mid wicket region. How can be compared to the greats of the game. Also, why do we need a comparison between him and Ganguly...

This Akram has no work to do....I really feel sad that such pakistanis are still entertained in Indian cricket. There are thousands of indian cricketers who can do a better job than akram. So, please dont entertain non-indian (especially pakis) to do the coaching roles in indian cricket...

Go and watch the matches and say.. Inside out shots of f pace bowler is Raina spl shot.. He s good square on the off side.. Rains need to tighten his game for short pitch deliveries.. He already improved a lot in last 8 to 12 months.. No one is perfect against short pitch deliveries.. He seems to be in right direction for best young player (In limited overs)

It is too big a compliment. He was struggling against short pitch bowling in T20 World cup in England last year.He still has to prove himself against quality fast bowling.

Who hasn't struggled against Short Pitch? Even great Bradman did...

Media just made monster out of mole.. All the batsmen around the world try to avoid Short Pitch and that's not called struggle..
