i dnt think So... RAINA NEED TO WIN LOT MANY GAME FOR INDIA TO GET THAT STATUS...WE SEE HIM IN THE LONGER FORMAT OF THE GAME GETTING OUT AFTER A GOOD START,,HE NEED TO CONVERT HIMSELF INTO A GOOD FINISHER..THEN ONLY HE CAN BE CALLED A GOOD BATSMAN..hE DOESNT SEEM COMFORTABLE TO ON SHORT PITCHES DELIVERIES...

well, almost every one from the Indian team (yusuf, raina, rohit) suffers from short pitch deliveries, but raina is much better than ganguly (guess why,he scores on leg side too, lol)
just raina got too many chance thats why he is matured...uthappa is better batsman than raina ...he can play short pitch bowling better...forget abt world...even in india kohli and uthappa are better than him..akram is comparing just by 1 good innings outside subcontinent..

Tell me you were just kidding! Nobody in his right mind will compare Raina to Uthappa. He can be compared to Rohit Sharma and Sharma needs to get his head straight. Oh BTW, how many runs Raina saves with fielding. Point to ponder....
Let us see his performance in all three forms of the game for atleast one year..now with more praise he will flop in the remaining t20 matches..so let us keep our fingers crossed..
No doubt he is a very good T20 player. Let him prove himself in ODI and Test. He was brought in lime light by great Chappel few years back...he was Chappel's Blue Eyed Boy at that time, but he failed miserably to prove his metal. This time, dont let air go in his head.
Please don't destroy Raina's carrier. Let him bat naturally. If any body matching with other great players that is not good especially in his beginning stage. He just start and he have enough time to prove he is the best batsman against others. High media coverage and praising will be loose his talent and long term carrier. be careful.

This forum aptly shows what Indians are all about. We can not praise our own countrymen. Why do you have to make anti-saurav remarks to make your point. Isn't he an Indian. It's very true that we are marathis, gujaratis, tamilians, bengalis but not Indians.

yes, very true. we can hardly expect to be the united states as they do not have linguistic barriers, we are indeed tamilians, bengalis, gujaratis etc and we still live in one country !! Not possible anywhere else in the world, and the reason, pal, is that the majority are hindus, which is not a religion, but a way of life !

Then leave india if you are not an indian...I can't see any anti Saurav remarks...
Dada - No doubt he was attacking captain. nut never be a great or even better batsman. He was lucky enought that time there were no laxman, dravid, sahwag etc. But today no space for him not even in IPL team....
Re: Attacking Captain, but average batsman

For almost a decade he was the highest centurion in ODIs after Sachin.... he does have his own share of appreciations as Lara said once Dada was most intimidating batsman of medium fast and spin in the world, Dravid praised him that he is only next to God in playing Off-side. I think we have to wait for some more time to compare Raina with Dada..

were u in long sleep, no Dravid and Laxman u must be joking.Shewag shud be greatful to Ganguly, It was Ganguly who made him opener. Ganguly took the captaincy, which even Tendulkar could not control.

u bloody, doesn't know about cricket, u r blind fan of him (bang...ali dada)
We can't judge any one by just 1 innings .One must not forget till last year he was susceptible against short pitch bowling. Please remember JP Dumminy had an excellent 1-1.5 years in all forms of game & now he is pale shadow of fast. I'll request all of you to be patient & let him perform for 2-3 seasons before arriving on any conclusion
