They have declined WADA because it wanted to encroach upon cricketer's privacy. Rightly so. Look there are a lot of militant threats nowadays and naturally players will not like to reveal their travel plans in advance.

Is Fake Debu the master blaster???
by Junior Don on Mar 30, 2010 04:30 PM  | Hide replies

I see lot of controversies & personal attack on calling Fake Debu “The great”. Instead of doing that, why don't you look at the issue with an open eye ? Fake Debu is undoubtedly the best now. I don't know who can be called a Master. If it is somebody who can do magic, I am sorry, Fake Debu is not so. He is best in the present era. That' all & it's always foolish to compare somebody with others, whether from same game or other. But he has given a lot to Indian cricket & won many matches single handedly, may not be in WC semi or final, but in other matches or tournamnets. We should salute him. Parellely it's also true, he was vulnerable against many top class bowlers, I remember very well how McGrath used to bowl him & enjoy beating one after another delivery. It is fact that fake Debu's defence was not that solid, as his natural style was aggressive batting. He got the extra strength from his heavy bat. He would never be able to cross Lara's achievements of tons in single innings. But again, there is gems & pitfalls in everybody. Be it Gavaskar, Lara or Richards.. Fake Debu is not exception too. Greatest ever batsman for India.

But for me Sir Vivian Richards will always be the greatest. King Viv was the greatest of them all, destroyer of fast bowlers and a audacious batter who clobbered bowlers all over the park. All the present day cricketers from Sachin to Warne, Viru, Lara, Ponting, Gilly, Haydos, Murali, Jayasuriya, Sanga, Pieterson, and so on rate Sir Viv as their HERO and IDOL. HE was the ultimate entertainer, no helmet and not much of protective gear and yet he was the King out there on the field with the bat. See his videos on YOU TUBE.

It’s truly debatable if he is the best or Gavaskar is & honestly speaking I shouldn't have compared, since I myself is against comparison. I know what Gary said. But Gavaskar himself keeps Sachin way ahead of himself. May be from modesty but it is also true that Gary didn't play against Sachin. So he did the actual blander calling Sunny the best. As I said no one should be compared, particularly with another person completely of different generation. I should correct myself "Possibly Greatest ever batsman for India". But to the best of my knowledge he is considered the greatest even by Gavaskar & all of ealrier generation Indian cricketers.

I am talking about the automatic pop ups. how many of us like the ad pop ups? the one that automatically expands from the right side of the page. Why dont we request rediff to stop this irritation? or are there any options available to stop this other than stop visiting rediff site altogether?

Anyone knows Babe Ruth? The greatest baseball player and popular in handful of countries-Same goes with this fellow sachin- Dont understand why his fan jump relentless for the records that he scores-these are just records within 10 countries , or maybe less. What value does these have? If this fella is the master of the game, how many WCs out of the 5 he played, has India won?

Mr. Thomas.. I think u have any personal problem with Sachin. If every world acknowlege his talent, then why r u not going through that.. If ur opinion about sachin is not matching with others. then let others do their own home work complete na??? why r u trying to prove such things which u dont know.. I think u forgot one thing that everyone is not saying that sachin is the god of cricket.. the only saying is that he is the best player in todays world of cricket.. coz the way he plays is just a miracle.. bcoz my dear friend.. every cricketer in the past had many chances to prove themselves. but this Little Master has the only one who hold his continues form over 14 yrs. Everyone is saluting to his achievement & his his presence to this cricket.. He presence in this game is just pleasure for us.. then instead of acknowledging the person why u waste ur time in such things... I think u dont have any other timepass...

Splendid cricket knowledge of Rediff readers
by Debasish on Mar 30, 2010 03:18 PM  | Hide replies

I really get amused seeing the cricket brain of rediff-readers. They are so intelligent & good reader of the game, they can pinpoint exactly where is the mistake each & every player is committing. Why Yuvi fails, why Ganguly should be out of the team, why xyz should play or should not. Guys, land on practical field. It's not an easy “game”(!!). T20 is not the same cricket what these players have been playing so far. You see last match star Warner, who devastated KKR's bowling, doesn’t have even an average success in 1-day game. Sachin is playing great this year because he is in good form since January, otherwise if you see previous T-20 profile, he even was not that good. Anyway, that doesn't prove/disprove his talent. Kallis was also not hit before IPL3, see what he is doing this time. If players of this stature even, are becoming so unpredictable, why some of you guys are behaving like idiots & passing hatred to your playres of dislike Ganguly or anybody else.. Don't you think, at any day of the year they will play better than you ? Yes, I understand, your parents didn't take you at cricket coaching camp in your childhood, that’s why you are passing comments in rediff & not playing in IPL, otherwise you should have held the orange or purple cap of IPL by this time. But when that has happened, please accept it & watch the game.

If you are asking the question to some of the Rediff readers who understand the game more than Bob Woolmar, they will reply 230. Ganguly should be thrown out because he is short by 200 runs. He is not even a club standard batsman, much overhyped captain.. because whatever matches he won for India, its all becuase of Jagmohon Dalmiya. Even Dalmiya surely gets surprised sometimes seeing people give him so much due credit what he himself doesn't dream to claim. Hats off to rediff-ers who collects so much info about Cricket.
