Thats life.. when u get carried away with a IPL glory, you fade away from the history of the game...!!
Twenty20 is a timepass game.. If u think that ure life is in it, u will be an absolute failure in other versions. Indian team is showing that again and again!
Look at the Australian team. The same player excels in Twenty20, ODI and Test, ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD... in ANY PITCH! Can India reach to that point, If they does, then they can be called top class team. If they does not, better be happy with what ever position u are ... whether its below Zimbabwe or Bangladesh!!!

Australia remarkable success is due to their tough culture that does not tolerate shirkers and non performers, magnificent sporting ethos, remarkable facilities from stadiums to pitches and spectator facilities and above all their hard nosed spectators and media who keep them on their toes.
Then you have sporting infra with world class facilities in every nook and corner of the nation that grooms top quality players and a tournament ethos where in only 6 teams participate making competition very tough. The players are toughies who have a go at you and needle you. It is this what makes them tough nuts. One must also not forget their off the field entertainment facilities, plenty in depth that allows the players to chill out leaving stress behind.
So Sad that india does not play the most exiciting sport - Soccer, and boring cricket is the most watched sport here....Surely the reason has to do with the physical stammena needed to play soccer, even if we play..we wld b like as what we r in hockey....where we once ruled though... :-(

indians are known for paunches not for athleticism!!!...work less and eat more is the mantra..we are a nation topping the fitness charts in reverse

Yes thats the irony!!..a couple of wins here n there and the sky seems to smile on us!!!!..what a joke!!!...since last 30 yrs, there is no comparison in the records of the 2 countries in cricket
The Indian team's poor performance on the recent Zimbabwe tour is a failure of the coach more than anyone else. With such a young team, the coach's job becomes doubly important. With such inexperienced guys, it is the coach's job to devise strategies and Mr. Gary Kirsten has failed miserably in that. The Zimbabwean performance has shown that big names don't matter. You have got to be street-smart (the Indian think tank obviously wasn't when they inexplicably denied the batting powerplay to Rohit & Virat in their run-chase against the Lankans), & keep your mind on the game all the time. BCCI's obsession with big names, as coaches, has hurt us many a time, but they obviously haven't learnt their lessons.

The Indian team is back in familiar territory - for us to go through, we need to win and that too convincingly plus team no 3 also needs to defeat team no 2. Shameful for us but not for the BCCI - there will be some1 to blame soon.
The reason is evident - the bench strength we have in india is simply not good enough. There are lots of flashes in the pan but the youngsters who get a look in are not able to elevate their standards when thrown into the international arena. Not to undermine their performances in the domestic seasons, it must however be admitted that the dead rubbers in the sub continent are not the ideal breeding ground for cricketers who we bet on to win all the matches that they play. And when they do get a chance, it is not surprising to see them struggle when it matters.
Goes back to the basic need in ensuring that the domestic system is strenghtened with better wickets - fast and sporting for batsmen to buck up and adjust, better training facilities and better physical conditioning opportunities which are missing at the junior levels. After all, all the money that the BCCi rakes is not to send the administrators to Dubai to attend how the next money making opportunity must be utilised. Rather there must be a defined mechanism to plough back into the domestic league what the international agenda delivers.
In summary, addressing the symptoms of the disease does not help. We need to tackle the disease and it is in the quality of the bench strength !

All these training methods, mental conditioning camps, boot camp, preparing bench strength in fast bowling, rotating batting order and pushing senior crickters out of their "comfort zone"...back up coaching system, team building process....many innovative methods of training were introduced by then indian coach "greig chappel"....we can see the end result now...team crashed out of 2007 world cup...b'cause so called "master " and "dada's" unable to follow coaches strict guidence...unable to play for team needs...happy to open the innings and score "useless" hundreds....situation remains the same till today.....indian players are reluctant to train in a scientific and methodical approach.....dont have a proper "sports culture"....dont play according to team needs, only for personal ambitions...it will remain the same ...no world class coach will train an indian team under this current situation and sports setup....it's pathatic

agree with Sunil K. Some dumbos think cricket is like buiding code in software industry like N Murty also thought. That guy wrote an article in Times of India to say how Indian cricket team can do better by using his brainless IT industry ideas into Cricket. Cricket is about talent and skill, all those corporate jargons have little value

what Mr. N . murthy said at that moment was right.....grieg chappel's manthra is "put the process in place...result will take it's place".....process means the above said training routines.....unfortunately so called seniors..."masters" and "dada's" were reluctant to follow this process....reluctant to play at different batting positions and refused to play for team needs.....result till today indian performance is pathatic in international big tournaments....."masters" r glorified for their hundreds....dada's get undue media hype......true servent of indian cricket "rahul dravid"...side lined frm team india......mumbai cricket maaphia ruining indian cricket...god save indian cricket
Re: Re: Coach Failure
by Deepak Ram on Jun 04, 2010 07:42 PM
Absolutely! What can the coach do sitting in the dressing room when the "next-gen" cricketers run around like headless chicken ?
Indian cricket has always seen these crests and troughs but fails to read the underlying message which is that the bench strength is good -yes but good enough for delivering consistently at the international level. Scoring tons on dead rubbers can get you in but does not guarantee anything beyond there.
India have been knocked out of the finals, now they have 7 days between tomorrow's match and T20, but what can they do in a land like Zimbabwe..im sure they have all the time in the world to figure it out, why else they have a Protea in the team as Coach, im sure he will help with logistics.
Re: 7 days of holiday
by SarvamKrishnarpanam on Jun 04, 2010 06:57 PM
Gary Kirsten and Paddy Upton will be happy for now they have 7 days of which at least 5 days they can spend at home in SA. and btw Piyuch 'Bhagwan' Chawla, the most dangerous leggie Cricket has witnessed since Shane Warne will join the team. The sure Chawla will rescue India from disgrace in t20...
Eariler it was hard to have a meal if India looses any match. after looking at this team which enjoys pub and disco even after the defeat ; who cares for this BCCI Team.
