Re: Murali is surely a chucker

If you call malinga's action a throw you have different idea of what is considered a legal bowling action
Sorry Mr.Bedi-we know your type very well.Over the years tour targets are great cricketers of our sub-continent like Sunny Gavaskar,Wadekar,Ganguly,Saqlin Mushtaqand and of course Muralitharan -to stay in the limelight especially in front of Western Media. With all your acid remarks you cannot humiliate a "Lion-heart" like Murali. Try to respect his achievements who nearly singlehandedly(of course we cannot deny Chaminda Vaas' contribution) has made one Country world class standard.
Can Mr.Muralitharan deny the fact that the bowling rule was changed by IOC to please the Srilankan Cricket Board. Since the bowling rule was changed many players are chucking and throwing like Muralidharan. Malinga is another example of throwing the ball.
So many rules have been changed to accomodate chicken hearted batsmen who could not face bouncers , and covered pitches that were not there earlier just so that these pampered batsmen could score more. so what is the big deal if the ICC made a relaxation giving bowlers 15 degrees more. It must be pointed out that Bradman was also in favour of Murali when he was first no-balled in Australia over chuchking!
Bedi's comments are in poor taste and he is to blame for getting this back from Murali. When the law now allows a bowler to bowl in those 15 degrees then his bowling is perfectly legitimate and only anything exceeding this limit would be outside the legitimate and qulaified to be ocnsidered as chucking. There appears a motive here by Bedi(I hope this is not the case) to smear Murali's legacy. This is not cricket.

No matter what the rules say. Murali is indeed a chucker.....Why to blame BEDI for that......At least he had the honesty to let the world know about it...........

No not as per the law. just as the cricket world has learnt to live with other laws such as only 2 fielders outside the 30 yard circle in ODI, which give the opening batsmen in the modern era to slaughter any attack, so is the law about bending the arm by 15 degrees. Its only Bedi now who keeps harping like a senile old man..it may be noted that the Aussies and english and the rest stopped after the rule change and the technological scrutiny. That says more about respecting and being objective in our crticisms.

He was not honest. He is violating ICC rules. A man who has no regard for ICC rules has no regard for cricket. You cannot be stuck in rules of 1960s and blame players playing under current rules.
Bedi will be wiped out if this is taken to courts.

ss, that was a nice point. yes, rules were made more and more favorable to batsmen all the time. did not think of that. thanks.

Welcome. you see the odi rule of 2 fielders has resulted in all openers in the last 20 years to be the highest average players irrespective of thier batting opening skills. the older players had to score runs without the aid of these props so obviously i personally rate them higher. That is the reason Viv Richards is a legend, although even if he were to play now he would be batting lower in the order hence sitll not availaing it. Same with covered pitches. Bradman played in an era when the pitches used ot be left witohut covers at the end of the day. And no helmets. That's what makes Bradman's 99 avg. so astounding. Plus his feat agianst intimidatory bowling, never seen hence - Bodyline, where he scored a century. Now consider all modern greats lara and tendulkar..with all thier protective paraphernalia. And no test like bodyline.
for cricket as it gives more balance between the ball and the bat. Nowadays all the cricket rules are in favour of batsman. So there is nothing wrong in allowing chucking in bowling to make the contest between the ball and bat exciting. ICC can even say a bowler can simply throw the ball and no need for bowling.
