was the only true leader India have ever had, because he not only produced match turning performances--186 inning when India was in very very bad position, and took catch of V Richards in the final-- but also inspired others to give their best. I have never seen him misusing his power as captain--like coming ahead of regular batsmen when things were going easy or hiding behind when the things were going tough.
Ganguly was good initially but he tuned himself into selfish captain in later half of his career.

LG, so you have not seen Kapil misusing his power as captain--like coming ahead of regular batsmen when things are going easy or hiding behind when the things are going tough, eh?
If that so in all his captaincy period he should have batted at the same position. But did he do that? He played 74 matches as captain in ODI and played in 67 innings the breakup is as follows- 4th position 3 times 5th position 17 times 6th position 26 times 7th position 20 times 8th position once
I will give you 2 instances when he came up the position when the going was good.
4th position-29-3-1998 vs WI Guyana, India were 152 for 2 when Kapil came at the crease. 1st wicket fell at the score of 93. gavaskar made 90 and shastri made 30. Kapil came ahead of specialist batsmen like yashpal sharma, vengsarkar, ashok malhotra.
again on 15-1-1987 he came in 4th position vs sri lanka at baroda when indian score was 161 for 2. we lost first wicket at 96, srikkanth made 63 and gavaskar 69. kapildev came ahead of regulars like vengsarkar, azharuddin, shastsri.

LG, now you are giving wrong facts also. kapil did not score 186 runs. he scored 175 runs. you dont know that also and you want to present yourself as a very learned person who understands very much about cricket.

Absolutely.. They not only played a major role in the team.. But really were the prmary reason which lead many youngsters to play the game..
We have Dravid, Dada, VVS Amarnath, Patil, Vengsarkar and so many great batsmen.. But these two are the real heroes who inspired guys to pick bat and ball!!

What kriss made here is a statement. You can either agree / disagree and nothing else.
If you are getting motivated / de-motivated ... it purely depends on the individual and how he receives it ...
It is negative if you receive it negatively ...
If any player / captain sets a goal that everyone else should feel he's the best, then it's a positive note you take from this.

What u found demotivating in it??
Those days, nothing was with India.. See his interview.. The players themselves dinf beleive in the worldcup..
Its the spirit of the captain which made the team to win and make the people to notice the game itself.. It was Kapil who installed the game of cricket into the hearts of todays generation..
If not for 1983 win, cricket wouldnt have evolved into the corners of this country..

If any guy is going to get demotivated by Kapil's spiprit, its better for him to stop playing the game and move to some other profession!!

Srikanth calls a spade a spade. That is why these rediff forum posters hate him.
Remember when asked where Ganguly should bat 1 or 4 - he asked do you want a true answer? Yes said the interviewer, and pat came the reply 14 (the real truth)
Worst selector of india. U feel ashamed of urself man. As a BCCI member u should improve indian cricket standards in national level. U r not there to make these kinda statements. U should try to make players like kapil, make them motivate.
