Sakkath Changla game!
by sandeep patil on Jan 14, 2010 07:05 PM  | Hide replies

A wonderful match no doubt...! Really played with great spirit by both the teams...
Mumbai needs to be praised for having beat Karnataka in their home grund...
But Karnataka deserve no less praise for having got it so close... and for having scored over 300 runs in an innings that too in the final innings.
When the victory margin is so narrow... there is no winner or loser, it is just the game that wins...

For all the discussions of selecting these guys for the national team, I think it is just gonna be Manish Pandey who will be selected sooner than later... he deserves a place in the World Cup team... and I'm sure he'll be picked, coz the selectors can't ignore him for long considering the kinda performances he is been giving since IPL 2
And may be Mithun can be tried as well. But that will probably depend on how well he performs in IPL3...
Others we know are not national team material... they have been tried before and they really dont fit anywhere considering the kind of players we already have in the national team.

Over all, a wonderful game... three cheers to both the teams!

fantastic match, both the team without their stars played excellent. it shows that without stars teams play better. My appeal to BCCI don't always go with start studded teams. try with new and fresh faces, same as srilankan did and won the cup.

Turning point of the match
by suman on Jan 14, 2010 06:53 PM  | Hide replies

I think Ajit agarkar run out in the first innings was the turning point of the match ,Karnatka team does not need this their bowlers were bowling well in the match at 102/5 it is like they gave life to dead body because agarkar was not going for run.
But Karnataka well deserve to win the Ranaji trophy than Mumbai because Karnatka have won 4 matches & two draw with 28 points while mumbai has only one victory and 5 draw in league matches.
Karnatka was unbeaten till final their only one lose is the final

AGarkar was shadow practising the stroke that he had played in the earlier ball...he was slightly out of the crease doing that...the karnataka fielder threw the ball after collecting it to the keeper...who then dislodged the bails and square leg umpire gave agarkar out...ideally the ball is dead if it is returned to the keeper...agarkar protested it vehemently for which he was taken to match referee and warned...this incident resulted in verbal abuses between mumbai and karnataka players whenever a batsman got out... esp. when uthappa was given a royal send off by agarkar in 2nd innings...it was a passionate match which spurred up agarkar...

Its good to see that Manish pandey playing an excellent innings in FOurth Innings of a test match.
He will replace Dravid in Future and Pujara will replace Laxman.

he is just another sachin in the mould... whats the use of century if the team is helped to its win... only his century for his own records, just like sachin's own records

Buddy manish is young and he played wonderfully well. Again he got out to a good ball and not while playing a rash shot. So u have to give credit the bowler and not blame manish for it. I watched the highlights. This guy is a real talent

mind ur language,be an india if possible.its the game of cricket which won today neither mumbai nor karnataka.soon after the match was finished the crowd applauded the mumbai team though their home team had lost.they are the defending champions and were put to the wall till the last moment.
