TWO UMPiRE DECISIONS COSTED KARNATAKA
by pranav on Jan 14, 2010 09:47 PM  | Hide replies

Karnataka would have won
1. 2 occassions umpire's decision costed them
2. Robin should have scored and boosted
3. Tail enders of Karnataka should have fought

karnataka was a weaker team than mumbai on paper...but they were far superior to mumbai on the field dude...even the 10th batsman is hitting 11 runs in 11 balls!!!! mumbai didnt win it because of attitude or something....they were plain lucky.....even if karnataka would have won, it would have been lucky cos such close matches is anybody's game

but then why do some teams just have the habbit of winning close games?

its not just plain luck, its the matter of holding the nerve too.

opinion is opiniated..
if mumbai was lucky.. then mumbai would not have won ranji 39 times.. k'taka was team of individuals.. Mumbai is a TEAM.. they take thier cricket seriously.. look at samant, salvi in first inn.. dhaval, nayar, iqbal, powar in 2 inn.. agarkar screwd them cos they teased him.
83 required with 1.5 days to go and 7 wickets in hand and still lose.. this isnt luck.
GOD favours the brave and HE did

hey dudofanass, no one is saying mumbai is a lucky team!!! i told in this match mumbai was lucky....thats it....it was way too close for holding nerve....at 303/8 with only tail-enders, coming till 331/9 with tail doing the job is holding the nerve....with just 7 runs and the tail still wagging, anything was possible....mumbai didnt hold the nerve but karnataka did...it was cake-walk for mumbai at 303/8....

amesh saheba is a good for nothing umpire, his poor decisions in the karnataka 2nd innings cost them the match, one just has to loook at the margin of the defeat to underatand this

Attitude!
by supriya on Jan 14, 2010 09:33 PM  | Hide replies

Best wishes to Mumbai for their fantastic win in the Ranji Trophy finals. Superb match. Well played Karnataka.

Both the teams were even, but I feel the difference was the ATTITUDE...The attitude to WIN which was seen in the Mumbai team right from day 1. That's the difference between a good team and a CHAMPION team. The killer instinct, the never say die attitude which reflects in this Mumbai team, infact in all Mumbai teams....their khadoos attitude typically mumbaikar! Well done! I was more interested in this match than the final being played in Bangladesh yesterday...

After his fabulous performance in the Ranji Trophy Final against Karnataka...Agarkar should get another crack in the Indian Team...if a sreesanth can make a comeback from nowhere...then why cant Ajit Agarkar....after such a good performence..if Ashish Nehra can comeback at the age of 32 then why cant ajit who is of some age..

Buddy i amused. Why should revenue generated from cricket be used for other sports. This is not charity. Would u distribute ur wealth to others? Let the other sports also produce grt sportsmen and u would see people flocking to see them which would bring in revenue.

U R AN IDIOT ASHOK ! VIJAY WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE SQUAD EVEN THOUGH HE PLAYED WELL IN ALL THE CHANCES GIVEN TO HIM. KARTHICK ALSO HELPED IN GOOD START TO THE INNINGS ( MORE THAN 50 RUNS PARTNERSHIP IN BOTH MATCHES ). BUT HE HAD TO SIT OUT. IF EITHER OF THESE TWO PLAYERS WERE FROM MUMBAI, THEN THEY WOULD HAVE HAD LOTS OF OPPORTUNITIES. STILL YOU HAVE THE AUDACITY TO SAY THEY WERE HELPED BY SRIKKANTH. DON'T SHOW ANY MORE THAT YOUR ARE A FOOL.

Patience, buddy, patience! Manish Pandey will get his chance, let him first keep improving and keep performing on the domestic circuit. What you say about Vijay and Karthik is totally baseless! Vijay has been scoring for the past 3-4 years, consistently as an opener. D.Karthik came into the Indian side at 19, 5 years ago. Srikanth was not even in the picture then! These 2 guys u mentioned have proven their class. Manish Pandey will get his chance. By the way, Srikanth is the best person who has ever had the post. Remember Vengsarkar before him? He was openly biased towards people from his zone!
Not many people know this, but Srikanth ensured a smooth transition to retirement for Ganguly, making sure there is no embarassment for him. He called him up and told him that Dada will get 1 more series, and Dada appreciated the openness, rather than getting to know about his exclusion from the team after watching the news!

I agree with Anwar. Srikanth has done his job well. Also, we should know that there are only 11 players in every match and you can't fit in everyone. But Manish will get a chance and he fully deserves it. Also, I hope they don't mess with Mithun and Vinay as they are really good and proved on all Indian pitches.
Cheers

I think both the teams were evenly balanced. If Dravid had been there, then Karnataka would have had an undue advantage. Then they should have played Sachin in Mumbai team as well.

I think Karnataka did really well even without Dravid. And they need to be praised for that. They lost narrowly which is a different matter. When the victory margin is just a couple of runs, really it is not because they lacked something extra over the other team, it is just bad luck... They deserved to win, but u cant do much, such things do happen.
And anyway, the best players of the tournament have emerged from Karnatake team (Manish Pandey and Mithun) and that is all that matters ultimately.

Cheers for a wonderful performance by them!
