ASwin deserves place in the team. If Vengsarkar was the selector, he might have given chances once again to useless Rohit sharma, Wasim Jaffer, A.Rahane. Naturally their state players watch their players more and give chances Just look at Gavasker. The most selfish player ever. During commentating, he will praise sachin tendulkar whatever happens to him. So Ashwin is good spinner and can be given chances. Also chances can be given to Manish Pandey, Pujara and Dawal Kulkarni.

Yes Amit you are correct. R Ashwin is very good off spinner and he can bat as well. He can bowl thosra like Murali and Carrom ball like Mandis. He was in CSK team for 2008 and 2009 IPL. He lead the TN team which won one day Ranji trophy cup in 2009 and this year lead the team which won 5 out of 5 went to next stage. He played in 20-20 Ranji in 2008, in which TN won cup. He also played in challengers cup (in 2008 for blue and 2009 for Red) and both time respective team won the cup. He was leading wicket taker in 2009. He also played for India A which won the cup in Australia (2009). R Ashwin (TN) CEAT India Bowler of the year 2006-07.

This for who talking Srikant. He is first indian to score 5000 one day run. He is one who started attacking cricketer in first 15 overs. He is one introduced Sachin under his capatancy and he also told Sachin is that you will be playing all Test and one match what ever you score is does not matter to me. Somebody want knowmore about Sriknat, they can ask to Sachin.
For all friends, I want say one thing that India selected many heros (like Sachin, Dravid, Kumble, Ganguly, Sehwag, Yuvaraj and so many). However India not win big final match or exit in early stage (World cup and champions trophy) because they won't play as team. TN players not heros like others however they will play for team cause (Srikant, Balaji, W. V. Raman, Robin Singh, S. Ramesh and Badani). And also TN players won't get more chances like R. Sharma (41 one day with 24.82 Ave) and others players got.

Take Australian team selection, they will select player who can play for team cause and also they won't select heroes like Slater, Hughe and many more.

5000 one day run in what... gali cricket or club cricket... attacking batsman... strike rate of 70 is attacking batsman may be in tamil nadu... he was a medicore cricketer hyped by media as great...

Hi Arvin, Not 5000 run it's 4000. Check in Ave player in 80's and 90'. 70 is very good strike rate. That point of time, even 200 is good score.
srikant was a substandard batsman with ave below 30 who was hyped by media as great... now he wants all the players he could from tamil nadu in the team by probably getting money from them... dhobi going along with for his own selfish motives of keeping his zero hero buddies yuhi and ishant and harbhajan in the team...

The head selector has the final vote and agrees to one layer from another zone only if his players are included in bulk.

What is the point in the coach having a vote or the captain? Does Kirsten or Dhoni have the time to observe either Manish Pandey or Pujara?

Well the head selector has the say only when there is a tie or contention..he doesnt have the final vote..
@Sameer: so u are saying the captain and the coach who have 2 votes out of 7 to reprent a billion ppl country doesnt have time to observe Pandey and Pujara and fail to understand what a common man like u can understand?
Just listen to urself ppl before commenting. P.S: I guess Dhoni didnt play IPL,where Pandey sparkled and btw Kirsten sleeps while we Indians watch IPL

Dude , are you telling me that Ravichandra Ashwin and Mithun were slected because they got votes from Dhoni and Kirsten. Dhoni is on record saying that he had never seen Mithun bowl and I doubt Kirsten would have ever watched him.
Common man like me can only go by scores and that tells me that Pujara has scored 3 triple centuries last year compared to one double by Vijay and Pandey scored a 100 in a tough Ranji final - forget IP.

Shrikant himself said that Mithun was selected to give him a feel and so that they can have a close look at him. He was not intended to play a game. Remember Dhaval Kulkarni went for a tour like that. So dhoni is fine with it.
Well if u see number of centuries and averages,y do u need selectors for any country. Just have a criteria or formula for a minimum number of matches, the player with highest avg in domestic gets selected to the team. Simple right? That what makes us common.Every Tom and D will assume to be a better selector. Scoreboard wont reveal talent/style/temperment. P.S: I am pretty sure u and many others dont know that 2 out of 3 of pujaras triple centuries were not made in first-class level. There are many who played like gods below the first-class level (dinesh karthik, Amnbati Rayudu etc).
Rohit sharma made twin centuries in last years Ranji Final. Dinesh karthik made twin in Duleep tropy final. Yousuf pathan made twin with a double century. what do u make out of this?
