Just shows India is badly dependent on a few key players.....
by Globalcrusador on Feb 09, 2010 08:52 PM

India has the potential to come around and defeat SA in the second test. The absence of many star players like Dravid, Laxman saw our side depleted. They can make all the difference if they play no matter how old they may be.

SA deserve this victory... they are NO.1 team without any doubt. India deserve this defeat for their over confidence. I'd be happy if they re defeated again in Kolkatta.

Good that Sachin played for his century, else our defeat would have been even more shameful !

Thats why the team did not perform. After he departed at 192, the rest of the team played, but by that time Tendulkar had done enough damage.

The fact remains - Nothing grown under a Banyan Tree.

@ majid rukadikar - What you want Sachin to do ? Get out in single digit ? why the hell no other players supported ?? (Shewag, badri are excluded).. What Gambir and Dhoni was doing there ? What Harbhajan did as a bowler? Ishant Too..

Selection is not a problem, why they didnt pick the 5th bowler rather Saha ?

Clean ur own A** first...

He was out when he was at 0 and 15. Thanks to a very supporting umpire and then dropped by Kallis to complete his century, a personal landmark.

If Sachin was out at 15, then Kallis ought to have been lbw. Even Kallis was gifted his century by Murali Vijay who dropped him. So first learn to pick up a bat before criticizing Tendulkar.

Sachin blind fans??

If Sachin would still've been batting or not out then yes he would've deserved our praise, teams play to win and no individual is bigger than the team to be happy that Sachin made a 100 is stupidity, Hashim Amla with a defensive technique came in when his team score was'nt even 10,stayed and not only took his team out of trouble but batted for a day holding one end did'nt hit the ball in the air and went onto score brilliant 250 even if he did'nt reach that still his contribution was valuable. We all believe Sachin's technique is lot better than Amla, he should've tried to bat all 3 sessions of today instead of personally achieving another 100 which is wasteful as it did'nt contribute in India's win or draw to save it.

What happened to others? For SA, Kallis batted along with him. Did anyone bat with Sachin in 2nd innings or with Sehwag in the first? Two good partnerships in the first innings would have probably saved the game for India.

Tendulkar flopped in first innings, and out on 0 and 15. Thanks to his umpire that he was given 2 lives to go on.

Kohli or Rohit can also be developed into a WK, not to late. they are good fielders!!!

BCCI does not think out of box.

Karthik should be had only for Wk, he can develop with bat over time OR we get Parthiv Patel or someone else.

dont rush in vijaY and badri INTO TEAM so Karthik or any other good Wk/Batsmen is excluded so Dhogi stay with all this selection politics and confusion.

We should appreciating the opponents & should not blame the Indians for their dismal performance. The SAfricans are here with a plan to snatch the top spot.Indians are without homework against the teams like SA.Still India has some hope at Kolkatta with inclusion of Sresanth who had a good record against Sa

Only if they prepare a pitch that turns on the 1st day and India wins the toss and bats first.

The Bangladesh series was the perfect testing platform for Vijay and Badri. But that chance was sacrificed for some individual milestones. Now any young untested player will need time to establish himself.when will they be given their chances ? When will some seniors rest or be rested ?

Age discrimination is not proper. It is foolish to think that only youngsters can play any form of cricket. Lack of bench strength for Test matches is mainly because of lack of quality pitches and bowlers in domestic cricket. The least BCCI can do is to plan to have quality pitches and create a window in the cricket season for domestic cricket so that all national players can participate. That will ensure that emerging cricketers get reasonable exposure.

How can domestic matches be international exposure ? It's the selectors' job to spot a number of players who can be readily inducted whenever required. For that to happen those players need to be given some exposure at some time. The series against the minnows are best suited for the purpose.Australia lost matches because 6/7 match-winners of their team retired almost at the same time. And today we don't have Dravid and Laxman, only temporarily !!!

India's Defeat at NGP
by SAMEER PIMPLIKAR on Feb 09, 2010 07:52 PM

We should appreciate the performance of SA team for splendid display, they looked determined & definetly they are here with a plan to snatch the no-1 position. If India wants to retain the Top spot they should be serious about their bowling attack rather than talking about their present rankings & success in tours like Bangladesh
