Not a selfish batsman
by Joel martins on Dec 21, 2010 09:39 AM

People may call Tendulkar selfish. But it is hypocratical. Deep within everyone loves him. Whenever someone asks about Indian teams score, I have observed that most of them follows it up with the next question. How much has Tendulkar scored? If no one was interested in him than why would they ask this question?
The fact is that everyone enjoys watching him bat and succeed. So let us stop hating him in public. He is a national treasure like Mutthaia Muralidharan to Sri Lanka. Inspite of his controversial action, Lankans still love him. So let us respect the great Tendulkar.

Tendulkar a curse on indian cricket
by Sameer Joshi on Dec 21, 2010 08:06 AM  | Hide replies

I think Tendulkar is a curse to indian cricket, because whenever he scores India lose the match. He truely lacks leadership skills, he can only score whenever there is no pressure on him and he can't inspire other player to play good, just plays for his own record and is clone of Gavaskar.
look at his face as if he has won a marathon, he and all of the team should be ashamed of an innings defeat and shame on the media celeberating India's innings defeat what a disgrace.

This is Why Sachin is more than Team India
by super hero on Dec 21, 2010 03:01 AM  | Hide replies

Ask a random passer by, what would you ideally want from Team India?
A non fanatic might say World cup .
A fanatic might say No1 Test status and world cup.
A girl newbie fanatic might say T20 world cup.

And if you ask them why?
Answer: It will make Indians proud. A non-fanatic might not even know
for how many years we have a world cup.All they know is its a big cup
and it will make us proud.

Why are these important anyways? We gave a world cup champion for
every 4 years. T20 chapmions for every 2 years. Constant doubts over
our No1 status and might not hold onto it for more than 2 years.

20 years down the lane, whats so great about winning 2 world cups
(1983,2011) out of 10 world cups so far and almost most of the countries
will have the similar record.Whats so great about winning 2011 world cup?
Indian are champions from 2011-2015. And that too if we loose 5-2 to Aus or
SA, we cant even call them champions for 4 years.

Notable achievements that come to my mind till now
1983 world cup, Titan cup,Hero cup, 96 SF,Sharjah cup,
Natwest trophy, 2003 Finals,T20 World cup,CB Series,No1 Test status.
Except for No1 status, most countries have similar achievements.
But then we have 'SACHIN'.The best bastman ever(Only Bradman can contest).
Most of his records will stay alive forever(If you are cricket fanatic,
then u will know that most of them are impossible to break).A poll in
australia twice this decade said Sachin is the current best player.Ponting
was no-where near in those polls. Current and ex-crickets, commenattors,
coaches, umpires and everyone alround the world praise him as the best.
That makes me an Indian proud. He is like Dhanychand of Cricket.
He is like a Schumacher ,a Pele, a federer, a Tiger woods.
50 years from now, Indian cricket might become like our Hockey.
Usa, Canada,Ireland,Afghanisthan might be top 4 teams.Your Grand children
might not follow cricket, but they sure will be surprised and happy to hear
that the best player, holder or most runs, centuries is an INDIAN.
He is a phenomenon that happens once in a life time.
I cherish a century from Sachin more than an Indian victory.
This is the reason why.

Tendular is the best batsmen of this time and era.

Its clear Bradman has been replaced by Tendulkar and we should be proud that he plays for us. Selfish or not I still enjoy to watch him play.

Please don't use these words. Both are champions in their own right. Look at test average of No.2 batsmen in Sir Bradman's era. It is around 60 runs per inning whereas Sir Don's average is 99.94 i.e. more than 30 runs/inning. Whereas in Sachins case (avg. approx 56) there are many batsmen having test average in 50's like Dravid, lara, Ponting, Sehwag, Kallis etc. But Tendulkar has more runs and test hundreds than anyone else.
So each one of them have unique qualities which cannot be measured. So lets say that Tendulkar and Don are one of the GREATEST batsmen in one cricket and not the BEST.

5) If any body still think he is a selfish player, I hope 2-3 more players get selfish and got half the runs sachin score in every match. I bet you will see INDIA as WC 2011 champions.

Naveen

Sachin should learn from our bowlers : Our bowlers are so generous with runs they give to the opposition.

Our new commer ( youngster) batsmen are also very generous to the opposition bowler. The opposition bowler puts in so much effort that our youngsters poke at deliveries well outside offstump and pay respect to rising deliveries by top edging them for a catch.

All our players are very generous except tendy. Tendy is so selfish that he practices day and night in not getting out and scoring all runs for himself.

if our bowlers also became selfish and took wickets for themselves, it would be HORRIBLE

We would be WC 2011 champions. That is absolutely disgusting

Its really Hurting
by Naveen Agarwal on Dec 21, 2010 12:23 AM

Its really hurting to hear that SACHIN is selfish. Its been the mindset of Indians because he scored so much runs but could not win more matches for INDIA. Everyone is just saying, he is selfish and play for himself, but no body is interested to think for 5 minute why it so?
1) Cricket is played by 11 players and each player representing 100 Crores Indian is equally responsible for winning match for India.
2) I have been watching and following cricket since 1995 and since then only SACHIN has been carrying the burden of winning match for INDIA.
3) If you give a look at Australia's 21 consecutive test wins, you will come to know, not only 1 or 2 or 3 specific players won those matches for Australia.
4) When Australia play match, no body expect that particularly Ponting or Gilly or Hussey win the match.
5) Since last 3-4 years, team combination is the best than ever. We are having Sehwag/Gambhir/Yuvi/Raina/Dhoni who can win matches for INDIA, and so INDIA's match winning ratios is increasing even SACHIN is playing less ODIs. But, before that it was only SACHIN who was having the burden more than that of other 10 players in every single match.
5) If any body still think he is a selfish player, I hope 2-3 more players get selfish and got half the runs sachin score in every match. I bet you will see INDIA as WC 2010 champions.

Mr. Sanjay Mohan, for your kind information, if 1 or 2 more players become selfish like SACHIN and scores half of the runs scored by SACHIN, no team will ever be able to beat INDIA in any form of Cricket Match.

Bradman was incomparable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
by India on Dec 20, 2010 11:27 PM  | Hide replies

Bradman scored 29 centuries in 50 odd test matches he played.

Sachin scored 50 centuries in 175

Had Bradman played 175 test he would have scored 110 centuries..(as compared to 50 by Sachin)

Sir Bradman with avg of 99 is far ahead of Sachin

No transcontinental flights - so the journey to England on a ship took a month. I suppose Bradman practiced hard on the ships deck... etc.

Let it go man - 29 hundreds in 70 odd innings is simply - "Can't touch this"

When Bradman did so, there wasn't any pressure on cricketers for playing non-stop cricket. There was no time limit and my friend you have forgot that there wasn't much of a technology. Now every cricketer is watched like an Eagle by the opponent team with the help of cameras and then the weak points of a player are observed and then his wicket is claimed through his weakness.Think again before making such comments.

Re: Re: Bradman was incomparable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bradman played mostly against England and mostly in England and Australia. Its like telling Sachin, that he will be playing against 4-5 bowlers in his career.
Yes Yes average above 100 in all forms of game. Remember when Scahin is back from elbow injury, he went straight to england to play club cricket before coming to International crikcet and he made 5 centuries in 5 macthes.
Nextly,LBW's are introduced 9 years after Bradman debuted.
Lastly the most important thing, Each of bradmans series will span around 4-5 months. And they have 5-6 tour games before actual tests. In this generation, by the time Indian players adjust to the conditions, they will be playing their last test of the tour.If you see India performance in the last test of every away series, you will know what I am speaking.
So, from the given facts you cannot compare them.No way Bradmans feat is more than Tendulkars. They both are legends.

People say "But if Bradman had played the same number of Test innings (Tendulkar has played 280 to Bradman's 80), he would have finished with something like 100 hundred, given the rate at which he scored them,"
The real question is will he make 100 hundreds in tests, playing 450 ODI's parallelly and making 17,000 runs ? That basically gives him practically no practice games, and he has to switch gears from Tests to ODI's and ODI's to Tests constantly. People are forgetting one thing here, sachin is also the best ODI player apart from his heroics
