Why pull Randiv's legs. I think he played by the rules to fox Shewag. It's perfectly in order even though one may shout from roof tops that it is not fair play because our man missed out his century. Shewag should also know he is carrying a risk if he stretches his century to the last ball. I do not appreciate Shewag dragging the issue too far. It was just to show who was cleverer.

the day will come when a player may be upset because the bowler bowled a bouncer, doosra, or an unplayable ball - as a result they could not score a century. To me India won the game and that is important; Sehwags record is not. I am sure there will be a lot of you who will be ready to lynch me, but that would not be in the spirit of the game (lol)
You are purely rubbish..childish behavior..even primary school children will not do this type of ugly things..shame on you people..try to respect SRILANKA..don't spoil its name..

you must have shame on the whole indian teamwhen they did the same mistake several times
What Sehwag has done is right. He has rightly openly criticize Sri Lankans for their unsportsmanlike behavior.
If you will cite the incident when sehwag pushed the ball into the boundary then that was for team cause even if wrong and in that case rules helped the opposition team anyway. What has Sri Lankans achieved by denying Sehwag a Century?
How many proves you want that Sehwag doesn't care about centuries?
Look at many times he has hit sixes or fours when nearing hundred, double hundred or even triple hundred. And even threw his wicket on few occasions. He is fearless. No other current batsman has such fearlessness including Sachin who normally crawls towards a milestone.
I like sachin and think he is great but I am just trying to put things in perspective.

I agree with you but even Sehwag has been reprimanded in South Africa for excessive appealing etc, isnt' it? People make mistakes and learn. Sehawag should also speak less move on.

excessive appealing in SA , you mean the instance where in even the commentators mocked the umpire for making such a decision ?

what great thing occurs if sehwag scores a century.what loss would have occured for india if younis khan had scored a double hundred at lahore test in 2006

it is the same sehwag who kicked the ball over the boundary ropes to prevent Amla from taking strike.
For somebody who is supposed to be not enamoured of milestones and statistics, Sehwag seems pretty agitated about what happened. What the Lankans did is more gamesmanship than sportsmanship, but there have been instances when our players have also batted or bowled with a spirit other than what is ideal.
If Javagal Srinath could bowl with no itention of taking a wicket while Anil Kumble searched for his 10th of the innings against Pakistan or Chetan Sharma could pat down eminently hittable deliveries so that Sunny Gavaskar could get his first and only one day century, then this is just taking the same thing a little further - with the difference that the two playes involved are form opposing teams.

This is not the right approach if one has done wrong thing in the past and we should also follow the same. One can teach the oth3er a lesson by following the right path. BST

I would agree with you, except there is nothing wrong that Randhiv has done. He did not violate the rules of the game... Even the ICC rules for 'spirit of the game' does not address this as an issue.
If the rules of the game are enhanced to ensure that all runs scored of a delivery should be incorporated in the total - then this will not be an issue. Blame the ICC for sloppy rules and not Randhiv who acted within the rules of the game.
In all this chaos every one has forgotten the blunder the umpire and scorer committed As per law 24 clause 13. Runs resulting from a No ball - how scored The one run penalty for a No ball shall be scored as a No ball extra. If other penalty runs have been awarded to either side, these shall be scored as in Law 42.17 (Penalty runs). Any runs completed by the batsmen or a boundary allowance shall be credited to the striker if the ball has been struck by the bat; otherwise they also shall be scored as No ball extras. Apart from any award of a 5 run penalty, all runs resulting from a No ball, whether as No ball extras or credited to the striker, shall be debited against the bowler.
