No-ball
by asli mumbaikar on Aug 17, 2010 04:40 PM  | Hide replies

Suppose Sehwag was out of the crease and walking towards the pavilion and Sangakkara had thrown down the wkt ...wud Sehwag be declared out or not out???
The ball is not dead. It is dead when it lands outside the boundary in this case.
Sehwag shd be credited with the 6.

Deliberate No-ball
by Arun Iyer on Aug 17, 2010 04:14 PM

Declared runs (ie : 4's and 6's) should accrue the batsman even if the game is decided of a No ball.

Rules should be amended to include the runs scored on deliberate no-balling as credited to the batsman.bp.tea

Deliberate or not. Runs scored of a ball should always be counted. Ball was added to sehwag's ball played but runs weren't. What a strange rule.

Rule is not strange it is totally correct. Consider the situation: 1 run needed to win and 9 wickets are down, bowler bowls a no ball and batsman hits the ball and run for single but he gets runout before completing the run. What will be the result now? Batting team cannot be said victorious because they have 10 wkt down. Match is also not tied bcoz bowling team threw a no-ball. Thus it make sense that match is finished as soon as batting team has got the victorious run.

Well if its a no-ball then the match has been won already "u r run-out" or not not does not matter here, well situation has been tricky if it had been 2 runs. Also, batsmen will know its a no-ball and they have won the(if 1 run needed to win) match, so they will not run at all.......

My dear you are correct, but suppose at the last ball is a wide and the batsman is stumped. Then what ??

Exactly if runs are not counted run out won't be considered anyway.

What evre the case, the run awared bcoz of no-ball should be extra. But the run scored by the batsman should be awarded to the batsman. Its batman talent that scored the run. In above case, assume batsman got run out while taking second run, then 1 run from no-ball should be an extra, but 1st run scored by batsman should be awarded to batsman. Here also there are 2 cases... what will happen when he gets out(other than run out and run scored)?
What about the run scored in free hit?

Discourage negative tactics
by Ramesh tk on Aug 17, 2010 01:15 PM  | Hide replies

ICC should view these kind of incidences seriously and levy penalty on offenders. During World cup match in west indies against England, Fernando fooled Ravi Bopara like, just withdrawn from bowling almost committing bowling action and Ravi changed his stance to play that delivery. Next delivery he was out due to lapse in concentration due to previous cheating bowling action. ICC should view all these incidences with seriousness and pull the captain by imposing big fine and banning the captain for 5 to 10 games, then theses incidences will not happen.
