Soften up the ball by thinking out of the box by
by abc on Aug 07, 2010 09:37 AM  | Hide replies

Right now the ball has some bite as its relatively new. Dhoni should send couple of bowlers up the order as blockers and inform them to stick it out for 15 to 20 overs with the main intention of softening the ball and making it old where it will lose its bite. Their instructions should be to protect the batsmen by staying at the crease by hook or crook.

Also if they can atleast get stuck for 15 overs at 2 to 2.5 runs an over runs an over hat will also knock of 30 to 45 runs from the total.

It might become easier for the regular batsmen to follow after that and negotiate the old ball as we saw how the old ball behaved yesterday in the second session when it lost its bite.

Some times India got to think out of the Box and get radical rather than relying on old tried methods which we know will fail since history always showed in the last 100 years that only a handful of tests have been won chasing 250 in 4th innings.

But I doubt they would implement this kind of approach. Indian captains past/present always have been low IQ guys and always never deviated from formula approach. Doubt this will change now. Let's see if they are some thinking heads this time around.

Another approach can be for Dhoni to come next and blast a couple of 6's and 4's right out of the get go and knock of quick 30 - 40 runs and upset Srilankan bowling plans.
By coming down he will not be of any use if quick wickets fall and has to play with tail. The game is as good as gone by then. There will be more pressure. it's better if he comes up and pinch hits to upset the rythm of the bowlers. We cannot expect a batsman like Laxman to do that. So Dhoni is suited if he take that gamble. If it pays off and knocks 50 off the total quickly (along with Sachin) pressure will be less on the following batsmen.

who are afraid of dealing with day-to-day pressure in life--(forget about they ever facing pressure in professional life as they all blue color workers)- are the ones who come here to criticize Sachin for not handling pressure.

People, who know what the pressure is and have dealt with it, and know what it takes to deal with it, are the ones who sincerely appreciate 20 years of Sachin' efforts.

Excellent...as I said yesterday, if you play till 40 overs it becomes easier to score till they can get the second new ball...hope Ishant & Sachin play the first 45 mins safely. If an early wicket falls, we should send Amit Mishra...

sachin vs murali vijay
by Sunil Vaidya on Aug 07, 2010 02:18 AM  | Hide replies

After 7 test murali vijay record in tests

7 tests 10 innings 333 runs highest 87 50s-2

After 7 test sachin record in tests

7 tests 10 innings 332 runs highest 88 50s-3

Murali Vijay-Another sachin in the making?

Murali Vijay seems to be as good as sachin/sachin seems to be as bad as murali vijay.
