Winning a 50 Over WC means few things. First and the for most you need to have a balanced side Who can perform well in any type of pitch and any type of situation. India never had a consistent bowling lineup; Never had a consistent all rounder; never had a good bowling unit. We have a fielders and bowlers who always under perform in crucial games. This will always be a big thread for India making anyway near the WC.
If ever anyone says Sachin never won a WC for us, it is a false statement. In his 5 world cup attempts the man has almost won the cup for us twice with not so good balanced side.
1996 WC: Scored World Record 513 Runs (top scorer) what happened in the Semifinal. India was 110/1 when Sachin got out after scoring 65 odd in quick time chasing a moderate 240 but the rest of the batsman couldn't complete the job. If any one says Sachin should have scored a 100 and finish the job, yes I agree with you he didn't win the cup for India. I don't know if anyone remembers how unluckily he was stumped on that game.
2003 WC: 647 (World record again)(top scorer). What happened in the Final. Against Aussies our bowlers and fielders gave up 369 runs against the Mighty Aussies. Well if anyone says that India could have chased down that target, then Yes he didn't win a world cup for India.
1992 WC: India was very poor. They won only 2 games. Sachin made 50s in both games and MOM against the 1992 champions Pakistan.

India had the best chance of winning the cup in 2003 under Ganguly. But on that fateful final against Aussies our front line bowlers Srinath,Nehra and Zaheer failed collectively. Ganguly, as captain, made the cardinal mistake of not playing Kumble.
Very few things are great and perfect in life... One od them is Sachin and his cricket. All the players must learn from him. Despite he not being capt. of the team India, he is more than a capt. for India and Dhoni must understand that. Sachin is next to god when it comes to cricket and he is unbeatable and uncomparable in the world. He is class apart...
You are playing great ! 5 x 100s in last 6 tests ! Keep it up dear. Keep playing beyond 42 and make 125 of 100s Low aim is crime, that's what you demonstrated. all the best.
Dreams by Deepti Bhatnagar (View MyPage) on Aug 02, 2010 08:48 PM | Hide replies
Although I have a lot of repect and affection for Tendulkar, I completely disagree with his statement -- "It is important to dream. The second thing is that you chase your dreams. Be sincere and honest and chase your dreams they do come true."
Dreams do not ALWAYS come true for people. The more impotant thing is KNOWING when to QUIT when your dreams will remain what they are just dreams. After all there is ONLY ONE TENDULKAR. For example :- SEHWAG can DREAM of achieving at least SOME of the records set by Tendulkar. But if Murali Vijay dreams of the same thing - Be sincere and honest and chase your dreams they do come true as Tendya says - do you really think they will come true for Murali. So I believe it is also important to dream SMALL DREAMS and then chase them rather than JUST 'DREAMS'. My two cents.. sorry paanch paisa!

Did you really tried to understand things in perspective?
Pay attention the last sentence--Be sincere and honest......
It means do not lie to yourself about your skills and c

Hi Deepti, I think you are talking about people who just dream and do not put the efforts to get them. They are called Day Dreamers. But sachin says "Prior Preperation is important" and he prepares hard for every match. So please try to understand when people like Sachin, Azim Premji and Abdul Kalaam talks about dreams, they mean it. With out dreams, no one even puts efforts to reach them. So you can take your Paanch Paisa back. We need advice only from people who already achieved things in life.
The way Sachin react on statements simply superb and be attract full, sometimes make excitement. He gained a lot but he is so simple, I like this kind of behavior in Sachin. Still I have a doubt..sometime it seems..Was the cricket born for Sachin? or Sachin born for the cricket? however I am enjoying his play. I hope he can win more people hearts with his play and loyalty.

Jai Maharashtra!!! Jai Maharashtra !!! Jai Maharashtra
- A Bihari living in Bangalore :)
Once again!! May Maratha's and Maharashtra live for ever and ever. Of course one day the sun will expand, become a red giant and engulf the planet but until then, Jai Maharashtra!!!
Tendulkar is now nothing more than an over-hyped money-earning machine. He probably is afraid of his past when he used to live in Marathi chawls in Bandra. So he is making sure that his next 10 generations don't have to be so poor, whether they earn any money or not. Good to know that he cares for his own marathi people, if not for his country.

Sehwag is a true match winner & real hero of Indian cricket....
Sehwag has always taken away games many a times from opposition by his sheer strike rate.......
he is true hero who plays for team first whereas many in Indian team may have great personal record but they have hardly converted that to teams advantage........
Sehwag is truely unselfish and devastating player....
Congratulations to Sehwag for making difference to an Indian team....not bothered about personal records
