Bring back Shashi Tharoor
by Chandran KR on Apr 28, 2010 11:08 AM  | Hide replies

It is high time Shashi Tharoor's name be cleared. The govt should seriously think of reinstating him and use his vast experience for initiating good governance. Otherwise, the PM owes an explanation to the nation why he was removed?

Looting can never be transparent!
by VASUDEVAN V on Apr 28, 2010 10:35 AM

While IPL may be transparent, looting will never be transparent. Do not say that the buck and muck stops with Lalit Modi and he is the only beneficiary of all the ill-gotten wealth, if any. Surely, with so many powerful politicians, industrialists and mercenaries like Ravi Shastri, Gavaskar etc. being present in the Governing Council of IPL, only Lalit Modi could have benefitted. If the new Commissioner has any powers, he will dissolve the old Governing Council in toto and form a new one with a completely new set of people. To expect transparency with the old bunch is just a dream!

MR AMIN, IF YOU SAY THAT THE GOVERNING COUNCIL ERRED IN TRUSTING MODI, THEN SACK THE ENTIRE GOVERNING COUNCIL AND COME UP WITH A NEW PACK OF GOVERNING COUNICL.

IMMEDIATELY RELEASE IN THE PRESS AND VISUAL MEDIA, THE COMPLETE DETAILS OF THE IPL FRANACHISES, I.E. THE NAMES OF THE OWNERS, SHARE HOLDINGS, ETC. ETC. AND CONFIRM THAT YOU ALL HAVE EVERY DOCUMENTS/FILES IN PLACE AND UNDER PROPER CUSTODY.

STOPPING THE CHEERLEADERS AND AFTER-MATCH PARTIES IS NOT GOING TO CLEANSE THE SYSTEM. THESE CAN BE CARRIED ON WITH PROPER CONTROL AND CLEANLINESS.

EVERY YEAR, PLEASE COME OUT WITH THE AUDITED BALANCE SHEET FOR BOTH IPL AND BCCI AND RELEASE IT THROUGH THE MEDIA.

MAKE DOCUMENTATION A MULTIPLE SIGNATORY PROCESS SO THAT EVERY CONTRACT/AGREEMENT GOES THROUGH WITH THE SIGNATURES OF THREE TO FOUR TOP OFFICIALS.

MAKE A CLEAN AND FAIR TRIAL FOR MODI AND IF HE IS FOUND TO BE "CLEAN" GIVE HIM BACK HIS CHAIR.

The success of IPL 4 depends upon India team's success in the 2011 WC...Period.If India fails to win the WC, no body will bother to watch cricket for some time and IPL starts just after the World Cup.

Including this Amin fella, everyone made money and merry. Now like our politicians - more promises. The real culprits are still scot free while the media has noticeably gone silent on a lot of things like Sharad Pawar's involvement, Praful Patel and his daughter, Rajiv Shukla's role, presence of Dubai Bhai money etc..

As far as the quality of life for the commoner is concerned, every survey done by public and private bodies (such as the UN Human development index and a big host of others) prove that both the average Indian and the average Pakistani continue to suffer greatly from unenlightened regimes (whether democratic or autocratic) and that their quality of life will continue to remain abysmal for a long time to come !

An Indian mocking a Pakistani or vice-versa is like one pot calling another black !
