IPL Math says.. KKR has very slim chance for Semi
by surya das on Apr 18, 2010 08:33 AM  | Hide replies

IPL points table and math says KKR has very slim chance to go to Semi despite of big win last night.

There run rate is (-0.456), which is way below against other competitors like CHK, DC and DD.

Three equations, which shows who will go to Semi:

Mumbai already qualified for Semi, and RCB with better run rate with 14 points almost there in Semi. So, for the last 2 places battle out between rest 4 teams.

1. DD ( 0.06)vs DC (-0.36), who ever wins qualify for Semi as both have 14 points each. But the loser team may be finding hard specially DC, who has -ve run rate.

2. If CSK beats King's Punjab then CSK ( 0.27) with 12 points at present will go to Semi and it will close the door for KKR, no matter how many runs or wkts KKR win against MI on Monday, can't go to Semi.

3. If CSK and DC both lose their matches today then there is a chance for KKR to win a big margin so that in better run rate it can go ahead of DC.

Let's see the first game b/w Kings' Punjab and CSK, if CSK wins then KKR's hope will be gone. But, it seems KKR does not want to learn from their past mistakes, last night they should win in 12 or 13 ovrs to improvise their run rate as it may compete with CSK for 4 th positions at the end of the last game. But, they took 16.1 overs to win the game, and main cause was two most explosive batsmen were flopped. Good luck to all the teams.

Ya 2 most explosive batsmen flopped and 1 was busy helping himself to a fifty first then trying to increase the Run Rate.

Anyone who saw yesterdays match will surely understand that he was trying to score his personal fifty first and then came the team.

left armer, good action, brisk pace ... young (only 19). Praised by the great man Wasim Akram himself. Good prospect for India. However we have seen lots of prospects like that flicker and die so no point in saying anything more right now. We will have to wait and see.

true from batting perspective. However Indian pace bowlers in this IPL have lack penetration. I havent really had time to follow all the teams but take KKR's pace bowling department ... we have Agarkar, Ishant, Dinda, LS Shukla .. but still Shane Bond has been the best performing across matches, even today he mixed the right variety of pace on the slow Eden Gardens track. Assuming that IPL will always be played in India and on bolwer's graves, maybe it is wrong to expect any Indian pace bowler to stand out. But I would still like to see a comobunation of foreign and domestic players, it is for the good of Indian players only. For e.g. how else would a Pujara face a Warne or a Wriddhiman Saha keep to Bond? Good for them, isnt it?

Ganessin, I amnot 100% aware of the bidding process but isnt it based on the simple economics of demand and supply, isnt it? you get a domestic player playing X but because multiple teams are vying for the same foreign player, you need to raise the bid to 3X for a foreign player. Nobody can do anything to change that unless nobody bids higher than x for foreign players also.

U r right he showed his class, when he is the captain he shows class but when he is not the captain he says things in media and breaks of the team. We have seen last year.

Yesterday sum1 was playing for his personal fifty and only after scoring fifty did the batsmen accelerate.

Now every1 knows who played for personal scores, after his comeback too india suffered in ODIs due to the Strike rate of his class as he only scored @ 73, meaning just 4 runs per 6 balls. 2007 WC , Bangladesh 61 in 129 balls, Bermuda 84 something in 110 balls.

Didnt have class to open and score against South Africa when india played in Ireland, Scored against Ireland, then scored and showed class against England, but the class again dissappeared while opening against Pakistan in home ODI series and against Aust in home ODI series, Dhoni was watching all this class and sacked him from ODI after that series.

diffucult for KKR. I am a KKR fan but KKR needs not only luck to improve their net run rate and also need to play really really well in all the rest of the matches. It is possible to go all the way but extremely difficult.

Fantastic going for IPL3

Lots of suspense still prevails in IPL3. Except for MI and KX1P none of the slots are confirmed. 6 teams still fighting for 3 slots in S/F.
