Dream Performance
by Sanjay Roy on Apr 18, 2010 02:28 PM  | Hide replies

There is no doubt India would miss Sachin in the T-20 World Cup. The team that the selectors have selected unfortunately seems to be in poor form except a few. Shewag, Yuvraj, Dhoni,Pathan dont even figure in the leading scorers in IPL... Thats a huge concern. The Top 2 Indians dont even figure in the squad. Sachin has ruled himself out and Saurav Ganguly has retired long back and they are the No1 and No 3 highest scorers in IPL 3. I am not suggesting that Ganguly should reconsider his retirement but the team certainly lacks players in form. The Legends of the game still have a trick or two to show the younsters that T-20 is not after all just slam bang.

Nonsense. Sachin is 37, can't deliver for national team in quickfire format - doesn't have the firepower nor strike rate. He himself knows it too. That's why he chickened out. But bcz Ambanis pay him lot of money and hold felicitation functions for him and turned him into their retainer, he is desperately trying to win IPL for them. Indian win T20 world cup without Sachin by they way. And India never won any world competition (with more than six teams) with Sachin in team and without Azhar in team.

The Fighter

Sachin Tendulkar has proved that he is not just a master but a fighter in a real sense that he has proved leading Mumbai Indians from the front beating his age and the young critics. Indian Team without Sachin is like a hot bottle of coke without gas. He is a champion cricketer.

Coke without gas is good for health, by the way. Coke itself is ruinous anyway.

Please specifically tell which 11 players should be played, then I will recommend it to selection committee.
40 players does not make a team, selectors also get confused like you,not being able to reach at the perfect 11,then they are blamed.

What made you convinced that an average and inconsistent performer like Rayudu should be made the captain?

Sachin has shown faith in Rayudu. Look at the way he is treated in the MI team in comparison to Sourabh tiwary and Satheesh. That shows Sachin has marked Rayudu for future greatness. So it is time to prepare him for future. He is the future of Indian cricket, in a sense. Regarding the team, well, the first 16 select themselves, don't they? I gave the list of 40 just to give a proper perspective and the big picture. A team usually has 15 or 16 players, isn't it? So please recommend likewise. :-)

PS
We need Robin Utthappa and Pragyan Ojha in team
by PS on Apr 18, 2010 01:36 PM

Yusuf Pathan should be dropped out.
Reason:The whole cricketing world knows that he cant play short of length ball.
Pathan only blindly swings his bat and if the ball is of full length/good length,he can get it out of ground for a six or boundary
Whereas if the ball is short pitched/short of good length,he cant play comfortably.
In the recent matches ,this weakness of Yusuf Pathan has been exposed. The reason why Rajasthan royals lost recently was because all the other teams planned to bowl short of length to Yusuf Pathan and he failed to score.
Also Pathan can only hammer the spinners,he is least effective against fast bowlers, bowling short of length.
West Indies pitches are fast and hence bowlers will bowl short of length bowls, hence Yusuf Pathan will be a super flop there. He will show his performance against minnows teams, but against Australia,South Africa,Sri Lanka and WIndies, his play is doubtful.
I think that Robin Utthapa is very very better than Yusuf Pathan.Utthapa plays very well the short pitch balls and also he hammers the good length balls.
Pragyan Ojha and Murali Karthik are better spinner than Chawla but why they were not considered?
I think that now since Pathan is there in team,Let Indian team make a strategy
If the opposite team has got too many spinners/slow bowlers, then play Yusuf Pathan
Else give him a rest and play some other player in the match instead of him.
