Power Play
by sanath on Nov 06, 2009 12:49 PM  | Hide replies

I still dont understand why Dhoni chose to take the powerplay so late, when all the settled batsmen had left, and when the asking rate was up due to which the pressure was on the tailenders. If he had taken it in the 40th over when Sachin and Raina were going great guns, the asking rate would have been done and easily reachable by the tailenders as well.

Dude it was not Dhoni but Sachin who decided to take the PP so late. That is the reason Dhoni in the end said "Our calculations went wrong" and he did not praise Sachin at all.
Arrogance has a limit but Dhoni has crossed it now.

Australia vs Sachin..
by miviu on Nov 06, 2009 12:41 PM

Lack of commitment from Indian team was evident while bowling, and seems to have given up when they last 4 wickets within score 100. Except for Raina nobody supported Sachin, and better not to mention fielding, batting and worsely running capabilities of Munaf and Nehra. Now nothing else but accept this as part of the game, and can also say it was Australia vs Sachin Tendulkar....

Culprit: R Jadeja
by Guest on Nov 06, 2009 12:36 PM  | Hide replies

The culprit for the yesterday match was Jadeja, he did the same mistake like in the Mohali match. Even the school boy will not run when the ball goes straight to the fielder. He has spoiled the great match. He should not be considered in the future team selection.

No mistake.... it is the game of cricket and these things always happen. India is only unlucky to be on loosing side (just because both teams can't on the winning side). These are the games were you win some & loose some....Just enjoy the game. All credit to Sachin and better luck next time.

Rightly said..Sachin has done his part..we should not expect miracles from Bowlers..but still look at the endeavour of Praveen kumar..what does Jadeja doing..he was so afraid to face the bowlers that he opted to get run out deliberately. he should be dropped.

Difference between Lara and Sachin is that whenever Lara scored a century West Indies used to Win. He was a great finisher , same with Micheal Bevan,Mark Waugh,Steve Waugh.

Sachin has always choked in the end , his innings was useless in the end.

Thats the reason i always rated Lara above Sachin..

Sachin is only after creating records and not winning games for his country.Irresponsible shot after such a good innings. He could have just played straight and India could have won.

Sachins emotionally charged up fans will not accept your statement. Everyone including the media in India is a biased one. No one is praising Aussies on their great effort to keep India out of the contest time and again. Indians are real chokers. This tag should be removed from SA and attached on India.

This has nothing to do with Sachin's emotionally charged up fans.
Aussies no doubt played a great game. And they won.
That doesn't take away any credit from almost a lone battle waged by a certain Mr. Tendulkar.

Mob culture, victims of Media and you see just numbers . 37 or 40 centuries what for? I would call this Martyr effort.

This is the only sport India plays and still we are not the best.

People like Sachin/Gavaskar are given so much importance because of you people. Other sports does not have any recognition. Learn something from Australians - Gilchrist still performs but he has retired from internation cricket and given opportunity to youngsters. Its in only Money Sachin is after , but you will disagree because you dont want to change.

Stupid sport and stupid people , keep watching this sport . West Indies have stopped playing , Aussies will do it in next 3 years , same with Eng and SA.India , Bangladesh Kenya will be the only countries to continue playing this sport-and you will be still watching .

Going by your conferance, Sachin should have got out after reaching milestone of 17K runs in ODI.. had he got out intentionally, don't u think he could have got out any time... why when India was in need of 18 runs in 18 balls with 4 wickets in hand..

Sreeram Balsubramaniam

Of course you can claim that Lara never got out. But that will be twisting facts "just a little".. :)

Secondly, to your claim that Bevan, Lara etc. were finishers, that was their role.

Openers are never, or at best rarely, finishers. Bear that in mind the next time you make such comparisons.

Gilchrist, when opening never finished games. Watson and Marsh yesterday didn't finish for Australia. The finish was provided by Hussey and White.

If you are worried about his irresponsible shot, you should be a million times more worried about irresponsible shots that were played without making any contributions at all. Sehwag's shot? Gauti's shot? Dhoni's shot? Yuvi's shot? Bhajji's shot?
Even Raina's shot?

Whilst I grant you your personal opinion, I must point out the logical fallacies in your arguments. :)

Sreeram, get your facts right before you comment. 32 of Sachin's 45 centuries have resulted in an Indian victory. He has averaged 56-plus in the 217 matches that India have won since his debut in 1990. It is time guys like you open your mind and speak sense.
