I think he is backup for Dhoni
by Senthil on Nov 01, 2009 05:41 PM

Anyway Sehwag and Gambhir will play since their Injuries are minor. If they really want a proper opener to back up they would have sent M.Tiwary / M.Vijay / A.Mukund. All of them played well in the challenger series.

Both are top class bats mans. It will be tuff for the indian batting line up. Both are can do anything. They have calibare...no one can match them. They are match winners. Anyway we have young guys. They can do something better than nothing.Good luck for india 4th ODI...

Biju or whatever your name is.

If venkat has an opinion, he expresses it. Now, if you can dust up that little thing called brain, if you have one and lookup something called cricket, perhaps, it will enlighten you.

Is there a reason you are on this board?

Sehwag and Gambhir will be missed.
by avinash rai on Nov 01, 2009 05:18 PM

Sehwag and Gambhir both delhites will be missed.Sehwag is a dashing player and the hardest batsman to contain. Gambhir is a good player and has scoured more consistently than others and has carved a name for himself he is the more defensive of the two batsman and matches his more illustriour partner. you cannot see a match whe Gambhir has not scored a sixer when he has crossed a score of fifty. His Delhi partner is a maverick. But Gambhir is the most suited partner to sehwag they will be missed. Get well soon blokes.

A new opener please
by Ramdas Nayak on Nov 01, 2009 05:07 PM  | Hide replies

When Sachin is batting on the other side we should try a new opening batsman who might get inspiration from his senior. Manish Pandey is an upcoming and daring opening batsman who has done well in IPL against good bowling. Selectors should give him an opportunity since he is young and also daring. Now that Aussies bowling is bit weak it would be a worth try to give an youngster a morale boosting debut.

Manish depsote his grt showing in IPL, would never get a chance as he has been discovered by the franchisees and not by the selectors! It is an ego problem.

aruni dear, who on earth is manish tiwari? manoj tiwari and manish pandey merging into a single batsman is not a bad idea actually.

karthik is a good player his inclusion is good . Rohit is not the best at the moment mind you Rahul dravid is playing for karnataka and has been named the captain of the karnataka team.Others like mongia, young Manish pandey can be called. They hope to be included

India does not need two keepers. Dhoni is already there. We shd try a specialised opener to partner Sachin not a makeshift opener like Karthil.

if we need wicketkeeper, than we according to you we dont need MS dhoni and appoint karthik as captain. rohit sharma is better option as he is too much capable and classic batsman . cant say anything about badrinath. but they should definetly select rohit sharma in place of gambhir and it would work for india as rohit sharma is the next rahul dravid for team india, same as mike hussey is the next micheal bevan for australia. cheers to rohit sharma!

i dont know what are you talking here. on one side you are saying karthik is a good fielder and can bat. here u say that rahul dravid is more classic. I_d_iot dravid is not in this series. karthik can't defend shots of fasters bowlers like peter siddle and michell johnson. so we need master piece like rohit sharma

Well, if we want a specialist opener who can bat in any conditions against any opposition, why not go for Mr. Sunil Gavaskar, the best opener India has ever produced. My friend, lets not discuss about the ones who have retired. Karthik is a good option. He played well as an opener in England. A batsman who plays well in England as an opener to the new ball, can surely say is a good quality opener.
