Good Leader& Captain
by LG on May 24, 2009 03:22 PM  | Hide replies

A Leader or captain can never be judged by results only or by his /her age.

A good leader/captain is one who can make best use of resources available to him/her to produce optimum results.

That is why good captain for me are
Warne (Had below average team)
Kumble ( although he has most balanced team but same team was losing before he became captain)
Sachin ( had average team considering Zaher was out and Baji never gave his best)

warne n kumble r gud captain bt i m nt sure abt sachin even i m blind fan of him.
i think sachin is more emotional. others dnt gets emotional n takes decision with cool mind. ys sachin is gr8est batsman no doubt.

A Tale of 2 cricketers
by Sameer K on May 24, 2009 03:03 PM  | Hide replies

One is arrogant egoist and the other a humble person. One who thinks if he is in the side he should be the boss and cries foul when he is removed from captaincy and completely destroys the team spirit and creates a lobby. The other takes his removal in his stride and becomes a team man and help's his team. One who before IPL was boosting that he is still fit to play international cricket both ODI's and Tests and when it comes to scoring finds himself searching for the ball bowled by fast bowlers like Fidel Edwards and keeps scoring like ZERO's and Ones mostly and the other who doesnt get selected for the national ODI team but yet keeps working hard and plays match winning knocks for his team.

Finally God decides to reward the humble and he plays a important knock in semi-finals and his team reaches the finals.

Hats of to Rahul Dravid.

Dear Mr Sameer

You have mentioned just the IPL semis. But have u forgotten that India had lost so many ODIs mainly because of Rahul Dravid. The Bangalore team faired poorly in the last IPL mainly because of Rahul Dravid. He is so slow and was never suitable for limited overs crockets although he was good in Test cricket. His captaincy was pathetic to say the least. Remember the world cup 2007!!!.
Whereas Ganguly has been a genuine match winner and has won so many matches. He was such a wonderful captain. Whenever critics like you have counted him out he has come back with bang. He is unstoppable when he is on form. In this IPL he was just out of form like many others including Sehwag, Gambhir, Jayasurya, Sachin and Smith(who was playing in his own soil !).Just one tournament is not good enough to judge a player. You have to look at complete history.

Dear Mr Kareem
The number of matches which India lost because of Dravid is quite a few. Just one example-15/03/2000 againts South Africa. Now don’t tell me that you did not remember that. If u dont then then U should be the one to keep mum. But please note I have nothing against Dravid. Overall he is a fine batsman and has a very good technique.
And It’s not Dhoni who is the best. Sachin is the best batsman both in ODIs and test matches. There is no doubt about that.

I think Gupta you are right, in first edition of IPL he and LAXMAN had 3 madin overs each, and because of that these both teams (Bangalore and Deccan Charges) where bottom of the table, but this time Dravid played well, we should appriciate his contribution not much but definetly din't ate balls i.e. madin overs :)
If you are making madin overs in 50 over match you are making mistake and if you make in 2020 its a crime and you are bound to loose the match as the presure increases on...

Matchwinner against ?. Gangulys last 4 series were against Aust, Pak, Eng and SA (In Ireland), he could only score against weak england side, rest he couldnt face fast bowlers of SA, Aust and Pak and has a sole fifty on losing side in 12 matches. This was in 2008 !!!!!

Please improve you memory and please acquire better statistics. Just see his entire career span beginning from 1996 and not just the lat few months. But if you are talking abaout recent history, Then please go back to the Test series against South Africa in 2007 where he scored a brilliant century in the Kanpur test on a tough wicket. Also he scored half centuries in Australia. As regards to ODIs he has not played ODIs since Jan 2008! So what kind of rubbish statistics you are presenting???

According to you the test series against Pakistan were played on flat pitches and hence Ganguly did well. Whereas One day matches were played on difficult pitches as compared to the test ones! Please speak sense!
It seems you always have something against Ganguly.. I don’t know what wrong he did to u !
Also please remember that he was not dumped out of the side because of Non Performance.. Just before the series in Australia, the selectors decided to do away with the services of Dravid, Ganguly and Laxman in the one day matches with an eye on 2011 world cup and I think that was a step in the right direction.

Kmvb, which category you belong to?
by LG on May 24, 2009 03:01 PM  | Hide replies

There are people, although very few in numbers- whose only objective in life is to malign SRT. Such people belong to one or all of the following categories:

People who, unfortunately, were brought up around unhealthy environments that make them attention seekers (I mean they have been deprived of love and affection in their childhood. Such people always says just opposite to what is universally true or accepted by experts)

People who could not achieve whatever little they wanted to (Such people hate people who are best in what they do)

Cricketers (Including Indian national team) who suffer from inferiority complex because of Sachin (talking big in front of media does not always means that the person is confident—likewise, not all the actors and actress are confident)

People who are hired by players’ sponsors/agents to increase the values of their players by maligning Sachin (very cheap marketing stunt). What can I say; they are the poor souls, as they have to earn their livelihood by maligning others.

It is very high time for Sachin to annouce retirement and players like

Virat Kohli/Sekhar Dharvan/Murali Vijay/Abhishek Nayar/M.Pandey.

Who is going to deal this ?

Will Sunil Gavaskar or Ravi Sastri being Mumbai Zone player do advise Sachin for retirement ?

It will be very appreciable for public and all INDIAN cricket fan it Ravi Sastry and Sunil Gavaskar do the favour for the sake of watching competative cricket and winning cup for INDIA.

Ganga why we are blaming see the reasons, Dhoni came when fielding restrictions are there and he tried to hit a boundry only in 16th over, see others Hyden, Raina tried to hit for boundry at least once in 4 ball, it took 30 balls for Dhoni to hit a boundry. He was playing like it was test match, stelling singles :) ....its not south or north, we are pointing out once performence.

Dhoni more prone to his zone candidates
by km vb on May 24, 2009 02:47 PM

Dhoni is more prone to his zone candidates than selecting the calibre.

Dhoni shoud have give a chance to any of Nitini/Tyagi/Hussy/Baily instead of Oram/Morcal/Gony.

Dhoni has developed zone virous and need to be removed this virous by selector ?
