Its recession time and since India is not affected, our people are spending millions of dollars for this IPL. Unfortunately our government doesn't know what recession is otherwise by this time they would have stepped in to this matter and looking into this issue.
In past 3 to 4 months, there was news where kingfisher airlines slashed jobs where many Indian citizens lost their jobs but they will have adequate amount to spend on IPL where many other country people paid millions of amount.
President Obama was great and recently he stopped bonus for AIG. People. Since he is worrying about his country, he stepping in that matter and not allowed for bonus. It takes another decade or two to behave our politicians like US politicians. By that time, India would become like Zimbabwe with the help of our great politicians.

you economics are poor, please take a class before commenting. Recession is caused due to poor consumer spending. IPL spending money is actually good news. Why do you think the government is starting a lot of projects and issue stimulus packages.
THE EFFORT TO CONDUCT IPL AMONGST ALL HURDLES DURING ELECTION CLEARLY SHOWS THAT BCCI IS ONLY WORRIED ABOUT MONEY....HAD IT BEEN ICL INPLACE OF IPL THEY WOULD HAVE MADE EVERY POSSIBLE EFFORT TO STOP ICL COMMITTEE ON SECURITY GROUND BASIS...COZ MONEY IS NOT COMING IN THIER POCKETS....WAKE UP INDIANS ...ITS TIME WE BAN MONOPOLY OF BCCI BY NOT WATCHING ANY GAME AND MAKE THE EVENT A BIG FLOP....
Whoe's going to bear the brunt of cost of these bullet proof vehicles, is it IPL or it will be borne by taxpayers. The centre has still not approved IPL tournament and these guys wants bullet proof vehicles...Lalit modi is more concerned to make money through these matches by any hook or crook even if attacks happen and some hundreds of us will die.
Our politicians will stand in between ppl and cricketers, risking their lives. After all its money that matters. Shameless politicians, morons citizens of this gr8 country are insecure and you, idiots, providing bullet proofs to IPL. Let this politicians come to you for begging votes, spit on this shameless fellows

examz are over fr most children...and if u want your children to concentrate somuch on studies ask them not to switch on thier comp
Just like I said before only in India, people will try to pull down a person who is trying hard to achieve success. If IPL is about money, so is EPL, Formula1, Professional boxing, grandslam tennis, American Football, Golf, and NBA. So when your favorite international stars are playing for money, you dont have a problem with that. Sheer hypocrites!!
Re: This happens only in India !!
by pratyay panda on Mar 20, 2009 02:26 PM
well , why donn you go there. With all our 80 crore poor families.which they donn have?
they are just playing with peoples money.its no more a game.cricketers are minting money and sadly some people enjoy that sitting empty handed at homes as they get nothing out of it

All those are unlucky ones, you in such a big country always politics and regionalism exists, so live with it and try to out perform other to excel. Bepractical it is always difficult to get job in India than USA, because there is an execeptional talent is lying underneath
These guys can have any number of vehicles. The paying public will fund the cost. The govt will give their own support in terms of funds etc. Players will be paid some money and the guys who organise (thats the only thing they do) will rake in all the profits. However when it comes to security, health, education, etc. for the public the govt will not have any funds. I am not blaming IPL for this but definitely if it benefits overall society rather than concentrating wealth on a few, we do not have a problem

I sincerly accept your argument, but tell me we always wish to be part of cricket, we make it a point even bunking colleges or offices we see these matches. I feel this protection is needed not only for cricketers to make us happy in the process cricketers any way get money
