That is just a lame excuse for not winning a match!! They were beaten hands down and thats what counts and that is what has pushed them down to 3rd sport in the ODI team rankings as well!!

Raina at 3 is a disaster, he is not a No 3 batsman. When will Dhoni learn?

Ishant sharma becoming another sreesanth
by arvind r on Mar 14, 2009 09:12 PM  | Hide replies

Ishant behaviour in the field was bad, whn he was fit for a six by ryder, he got upset and loosed his temper.
Is he becoming another sreesanth or harbhajan in the field. Ishant is not a quality bowler and the only sucess he had was the spell he bowled to ricky pointing in australia.
This is my personal view...

He was man of the series in India some time back.. No mean feat for a fast bowler on placid Indian tracks. He will come good in Tests for sure.

YOu are right? He might be very good bowler in Test Cricket. But certainly not in ODI, Look at his Avg. it's worst than Ajith Agarkar.

UNIQUE KNACK
by BISWADEEP SINHA on Mar 14, 2009 08:43 PM  | Hide replies

May be MSD is a good and lucky captain, but he also somehow has the unique knack/luck of donating the dead games in the rubber.
What has happened in New Zealand today is a repetition of what happened in Sri Lanka last month. We are very sad that the intensity in performance is totally lacking today and the team did not seem to fathom the difference between 4-0 and 3-1.
In Sri Lanka, MSD structured the team with the worst possible players, and here one Mr. SR Tendulkar was made to sit out though the newspaper reports claim that he promised to play in Auckland.
Very Funny!!!!

ODI: 40 --- 50s: 4 --- 100s: 0 --- AVG.: 22.37

Oh! Well, if you thought the above was the batting record of a bowler who comes 9th down in the game... Well, it is that of the so called 'specialist batsman' from Mumbai, Mr. Rohit Sharma. He joins the long list of incompetent nincompoop match losers from Mumbai, such as Praveen Amre, Sameer Dighe, Manoj Joglekar, Ramesh Powar, Aavishkar Salvi, Sanjay Manjrekar, Paras Mhambrey and other etceteras, who hung around in the Indian team with similar averages for more than 40 games each... Only because these good for nothings were from Mumbai.

Take this: S Badrinath has been the highest run getter in 3 of the last 5 years in domestic Cricket. Murali Vijay, has the highest average and played most match winning innings than anybody else in the last 2 years. Even, Robin Uthappa has the highest score in Duleep trophy, in this season. And, our man, Mr. Rohit, walks into the team without credentials and hangs around like a paraside.

You would be well aware to know that Rohit scored less than 100 runs in the IPL playing for Deccan Chargers.

well if this had been gully cricket, then mr.rohit sharma deserves an award for his batting..such a pathetic battig display n no sign of remorse either from dhoni or rohit himself..in such a crucial stage,he thinks of only playing d ball n not hitting it....irfan,badri,dinesh karthik, utthapa, pujara, jadega n many more can play better than rohit....he shud be dropped from one day team n retain him only for 20-20 matches n for upcoming T-20 world cup...at least irfan can score at a better average than rohit.....

Partly agree to what you say. COME WHAT MAY BADRINATH SHOULD GET AN IMMIDIATE ENTRY INTO THE PLAYING ELEVEN. Haven't seen much of Murali but he did a decent job on his debut. But Robin Uthappa had had enough chance I believe and I do agree that Rohit Sharma must go.

Dhoni - Experiments do not always work.....You should be sorry
by vijay bhide on Mar 14, 2009 08:26 PM  | Hide replies

Dhoni has to say sorry....He thinks that his supercool image and his penchant for experiments make him a great captain....In today's match, he changed the batting order and promoted Rohit Sharma who was playing his first match of the tout....and Rohit messed up the whole show....He did not rotate the strike which frustrated Viru and Viru had to play crazy shot because runs were not flowing from Rohit's blade and Rohit was playing as if it was test match.... Had Yuvraj come at no.4 the left/right combination would have done wonders. Mr Dhoni also messed up in T20 matches. When Ishan and Zaheer were available he started with Irfan Pathan and he got hammered in his very first over but Mr Dhoni continued with him for next 2 overs....So it is not great to say sorry...he has to apologise. Guys had India won today, we would have displaced Australia from number 2 ranking.

this rohit sharma might have got runs in T-20 world cup,bt he is a SUPER FLOP SHOW in one day cricket....if either dhoni or yuvi had come frst down we would have scored at least 270-300 in 43 overs....he shud have tried ojha in place of praveen..but mr dhoni want's 2 be a super cool captain....this way we can't displace aussies from number 1 position or even win t-20 world cup
