Absolutely. Poisonous. It never ONCE occurred to me look at the composition of the team with such a narrow vision till this article appeared. This is deliberate mischief mongering. The writer will no doubt get a job with Star News, who excel in this kind of divisive, cheap journalism! Expunge this article IMMEDIATELY, or you will lose a million subscribers, Rediff!
we have to start a movement in Nagaland, Sikkim, Mizoram, Manipur, Tripura to get representation in the Indian cricket team. We can't bat, we cant bowl, we can't field, but we want a representation.

How Srikanth played just before annoucing retirement from International cricket??? Who is outstanding player from south after getting chance??? We are watching several player but nobody performed when india need most.
I am delighted to see many on this forum discouraging regional factor in our team.Remember those days when the team is with Viswanath,prasanna,Chandra Sekhar,Brijesh,Kirmani.Only the worthy will play.I am Telugu, but I don't cry for Lakshman,venugopal rao.They have to earn their berth.

They played and get fame and name...but selection will not made in the name of region and legend. Otherwise Kapil (Haryana) and Dhoni (jharkhand) will get full team from their. Southern states always get more comfort zone due to regional politics whether politics or cricket.
What a shitty article. Rediff is loosing its quality since the last three years. It's only after showing up regional, communal and other differences and making people fight among them selvess so they get maximum hits and so money. Grow up rediff, your job is to passify the difference and not amplify. Be socially responsible as a reporter. Thats why now a days I am just starting to hate Rediff. If you have Balls get more hits by quality news and not by such hazardous junk. Shame on you rediff and the reporter who wrote this.
"The South", "Madrasis", are not a single block. A Bong would not like to be compared to an Oriya or an Assamee, a Punjabi would not like to be called Marwari. Like wise in South. I dont care if there is none from the south. Only the best should play. Sometimes there are more from the south and sometimes more from the west, east,north, northwest, southeast, ... you get it!
If there are politics to keep people out deliberately, that wont of course be acceptable but that's not the case here.
I am an Indian first and foremost and then other things!
Disgraceful. No wonder we have politicians who take advantage of this narrow mindedness to rule the roost. Best men must always represent the country even if it means all 15 from the same city ! We really don't care. It's the national team after all maan. What's happening to Rediff ? Only interested on hits I suppose ? Bad journalism indeed.

what is disgraceful?...rediff is just trying to follow the same reservation system, which our political system implements...good going rediff...u r the true masters...but I strongly feel, they should implement reservation and quota for sc, st, minorities, females, brahmins in our indian team..then only, we can succeed
