what is the point in playing these last league matches?
by s arun on Jun 11, 2009 07:55 AM  | Hide replies

SA and NZ played so poor cricket as if even a exhibition game could have played with right spirit..yesterday, WI played a pathetic casual game just for timepass it seems. so whats the point in playing these last round games when there is no carry forward of points to super eight stage or whats the actual use? silly yar...pathetic planning by ICC..pls wakeup ICC..

hello they have 2 b played bcoz in case of a tie in future semi finals/ finals btw teams, results of these matches will also be accounted for, also including the net run rate.

you are ture, there should have been carry frd. such that all the games would have been more serious, we have seen in yesterdays match Ireland haven't feilded their two key players!!

From now INDIA going to lose
by Srinivas Mepula on Jun 11, 2009 07:53 AM  | Hide replies

From now INDIA going to lose if Dhoni comes @ no. 3, against Bangala n Ireland din't matter much, but aginst WI, SA, England its going to matter a lot...Dhoni comes @ no. 3 and spoils the game by scoring run a ball and try to snatch a single (making himself n other getting run out) and making last few balls very import as INDIA have to score six's and fours MUST

Can a Player, who has crossed the boundary, field legally ?
by sudhir shah on Jun 11, 2009 07:42 AM  | Hide replies

This happened in the Sri Lanka -West Indies match.Mathews had crossed the boundary while fielding and threw the ball in the air before touching the ground and crossing the rope.He then flew in the air to volley the ball back into the play field without comming back into the playing area.

The law is unclear in this regard, as it talks about only the person touching the boundary or grounded beyond the boundary when he makes contact with the ball.

It has to be more unambiguous. Currently, if a fielder runs beyond the boundary and then jumps and takes a catch and falls into the ground, it is technically out. This should not be allowed and an amendment to this kind of 'in the air' acts should also be made clear in law book.

falls into the 'ground' meaning falls to the area inside the boundary!

when he used to score ata faster rate in odi he used to come 6 or 7 down. now when he is not able to score freely he come 1 down and wastes the overs..i cant understand the logic...

Dhoni's Dadagiri
by Vikrant on Jun 11, 2009 07:24 AM  | Hide replies

Dhoni is going Dada's way. Success brings it all..
His promoting himself to Number Three does nothing but frustates the in-form batter Raina who had a dream IPL concluded last month.. Raina was also in CSK with Dhoni, and MSD has watched him batting so closely, but still is adamant on promoting himself. We saw Raina not showing that fine touch when he got to bat in last match......
Wake up MSD....

dhoni is doing sachins way. wants to make all the runs by himself and take cares of himself. but still he makes the team to play as a unit unlike sachi. dont ever compare his with dada. dada always played for his team not for himself

Dhoni, stop comming at No. 3!!!
by B M on Jun 11, 2009 06:56 AM  | Hide replies

What is the use of having big hitters like Raina and Yusuf Pathan in the team if they cannot get more than 2 overs to bat? Dhoni is a good finisher and should stick to that role. Instead of comming at No. 3 he should come at No. 5 or 6. The ideal batting order will be -

Gambhir
Rohit
Raina
Yuvraj
Dhoni (or Yusuf, if India is in a strong position)
Yusuf (or Dhoni, if Yusuf is sent at No. 5)
Irfan
Bhajji
Zaheer
Ishant
Ojha

What about this order?
Gambhir
Rohit
Raina
Yuvraj
Yusuf
Irfan
Bhajji
Zaheer
Dhoni (you think he can hit harder than zaheer?)
Ishant
Ojha

Perfect order
Gambhir
Rohit
Raina
Yuvraj
Yusuf
Irfan
Bhajji
Zaheer
Dhoni
Ishant
Ojha
I totaly agree with the order RV, in my order too Dhoni comes after Zaheer, if and only if he can be promoted if Zaheer doens't feel well or his shoulder aces!! To be frank enough with current form he might come later then Ishant too, may be in another couple of months!!!

Forgetting the bowlers
by yogesh kumar on Jun 11, 2009 06:45 AM

We people always forget the contributions of bowlers in our team's success, giving kudos only to our batsmen and captain. While it is bowlers who always play most important role in a team's success as what our pace spearhead Zaheer Khan did yesterday. I'm sure he will play major role in retaining T20 world cup for India. Congratulations Zack.

I'm amazed that we people always forget the bowlers' contributions, giving credit to batsmen or captain only. But to me, bowlers always play crucial part in a team's success, as Indian pace spearhead Zaheer Khan has done> no one in our discussion has praised Zaheer Khan who bowled so well yesterday to restrict minnows Ireland. I'm sure Zaheer will play major role in next matches too and will do his best to retain the T20 World.

Perhaps the high command has asked just to target Dhoni, build up undue pressure on him so as to oust him from the team. The only way to do that seems to be by disguising public, spreading rumors etc.
