More than 72% times ,whenever Sachin has made some record,India has won the match.
He plays for himself is an allegation made without any base and simply overlooking the facts.
Do'nt get carried away by misleading media and their bias and KHUNNAS against the great player. Jai Ho !

Why this hell fellow Dhoni is coming at no. 3 and reducing the run rate?

If Dhoni had not got out at over 15, we would have lost to Bangladesh. Stupid Bangladeshis were very happy getting Dhoni's wicket. I was so happy he got out as Yuvraj came and saved the day. otherwise a repeat of the last 50 over world cup would have become reality. If Dhoni had batter for 20 overs we would have put a 150 on the board instead of 179.

No..nooo dont be sooo harsh, this same Dhoni had smashed pakistan in Pakistan at No.3.,Previously Yuvaraj also failed miserably, cricket is a fickle game it all depends upon the swinging bat hitting the ball spot on, that is all in this game.

dumb-headed, grouping is done based on previous ranking & so in every SPORT, first & the last are competed & then the second best & the second from the bottom are competed & so on & so forth. Think sportively & then cry over anything.

My dear friends,
Groupings are made based present ICC rankings, standard of the game in that country, other rankings - tests, ODIs, etc. - and also considering the status as reining champs. ICC, FIFA, FIH, et al make the grouping for major tournaments based on above criteria and nothing else.

Dear Mr. Menon, it appears from the grouping of the teams for the preliminary rounds that no such criteria was applied and it is most likely that the teams were put in groups by mere draw of lots.

Every one will agree that there were four ordinary teams in this competition (Bangladesh, Ireland, Netherlands and Scotland) plus 8 better teams (atleast on paper). ICC might have done well by having only two preliminary groups with 4 good teams and 2 weaker teams in each of them instead of four groups of 3 teams each. This would have ensured better competitive interest in the second phase (Super 8) of the tourney.

As regards the comments of chindhee chor, all I would like to say that people are generally funny - if India lost to Bangladesh or Ireland or both, we will all cry and chide that Team India could not win even against ordinary teams. If India wins, then we will say that it is all stage managed.

We do not even have the patience to wait till the whole tournament is over to see what the team does eventually and are hell bent on making comments in a premature way.

Who is better - Jaya or Sachin

All agree that Sachin is a master blaster and living legend but no one can deny that great show by Jayasuriya in all formats of Cricket even at the age of 39 has given rise to question that who is better - Sachin or Jaya? Though Sachin is a great player India has ever produced but he won't play in T20 while Jaya is doing great in even younger's game 20-20. I think Jaya is better. What is ur opinion?

It looks as if Sri Lanka looks favourite at this point of time. They have won against two strong teams so far and is in good nick. It will be a miracle if they do not enter the semi-finals. Their bowling is strong and they have got four strong batsmen which may be sufficient for T20.

Dhoni should be playing at 9 down. Most of the times even bowlers perform well than Dhoni. Dhoni is a good captain but a bad hitter. He brings the run rate down. Raina and Yuvi should bat at No. 3 & 4.

Irfan gives more runs in his bowling than he can score with the bat...cant R Jadeja be taken in his place...he had performed well in the IPL, or may b take RP singh as well and drop one spinner(OJHA or Harbhajan). Just an opinion. Jadeja can bowl spin.

I don't understand the logic of Dhoni coming in at #3 in a T20 game. Is he trying to proves some point??
I am ok with him if he comes in at #3 in a one dayer!
Raina, Yuvi, Pathan should follow always after the fall of the first wkt in a T20.
I think if Dhoni is persistent with this we might lose the next matches and it will be upto the bowlers to salvage something.

I also agree to the point that you all are questioning about Dhoni coming at #3. The match against Ireland was more or less a practiece match for India and they could have done some experiments in the batting order. Like sending the Pathan brothers to open the batting with Gambhir, Raina,Yuvraj and Rohit and others to follow. Atleast all the guys would have got the match practiece. Remember guys like Yusuf and Raina does not have enough experiance in England. If India loses this cup it will be only because of this tactics by Dhoni

The messages about Dhoni at #3 is indeed amusing. Here is one captain who was instrumental in India winning T20 world cup and couple other tough series. Many knowledgable cricketers have applauded his cricketing acumen, even though less mortals have dismissed his ride as luck.

In T20, the batting works in a logic. The first 6 overs, you should be able to score close to 10 and try not to lose too many wickets .Thats why its important to have good openers.Gauti and Rohit have been good so far, though I would prefer Raina and Rohit. After 6 overs till 15, you need 1 batsman who can consolidate and other can continue either consolidation/or stike.By Dhoni walking in at#3, he is trying to be the consolidator, because if you his style, he rarely concedes a dot ball - atleast a run or may be 2. He is a very good runner between the wickets. Thus if the other opener also gets out and you are around 15 overs, then you have finishers like Yuvi,Yusuf and Irfan walking in.

Iam not a close confident of Dhoni, but having observed his cricketing acumen over the years, I think thats what he is trying to do.As cricket lovers, lets support him; he has delivered the goods before. So trust him and please do not bring North-South divide here. The divide-and-rule were with British and now lets believe in ourtselves and march on..

Cheers!

@dinesh
no one's questioning his commitment or captaincy skills. the sheet anchor role can be essayed by Gauti in a much better manner than Dhoni...Dhoni's ok for 50 overs but u really don't need a two anchors in a T20 match. Also, Dhoni is technically still deficient to succeed in swinging and seaming conditions. Raina is the best bet for no 3. Dhoni shud ideally come in at no 5.

hmmm...if he comes at #5, that will be in the 15-16th over.He feels that he may not be a good finisher and is more effective as a consolidator. The team indeed needs only one anchor and so I guess the role that Gambhir has to play is to score at 150 plus strike rate.

Knowingly or unknowingly, maybe you revealed a little of team India's strategy. He tried a few things in IPL as a screener and I am sure has got a few more up his sleeves. But why don't you just let the braggers brag, the Platos and Einsteins of Indian cricket put their views up? Media is here to spoil the game because team India's winning streak seem to be spoiling their own game.

Got the gist.I have observed that these posters have two main issues - one, is the North-South-East-West divide and the second is to get personal/swearing when someone disagrees to their viewpoint.

I was going thru Channel 9's Cricket discussion forum and there was pure healthy discussion going over there. Not even one person ridiculed Ponting or any other Aussie team member even though I felt Aus didnt play even upto 20% of their potential. There wasnt anybody claiming for Ponting's head and I felt may be its because they know that he has delivered the goods before. I was wondering if it was India who got booted out then by this time Dhoni would have been stabbed many times in the online space and may be his house would have been burnt down.

Alas..Iam still in the lookout for a good forum for healthy'n mature discussion.

Dhoni is unable to score runs coming down the order. His strike rate in t20 is just above 100. He is sacrificing team's interests for his personal interest.

I also wonder why Yusuf Pathan has not been given a chance during match with Ireland. He should have batted at #3. Yusuf should get good form. If on form, Yusuf along with Yuvi,Raina can win the match with any team in this world. Dhoni batting at #3 position shows that he has become selfish and does not want India to retain T20 world cup.

It is all done with at least the commercial motive (if not something else is involved unknown to all of us now). He has to bat lower down after the regular batsmen like Raina, Yuvraj, Yusuf only. In case he is coming at No.3, we have to see it as a tactic to score quick runs without risking regular batsmen (as a pinch hitter). He is not trying that also. So this is not a decision keeping the interest of the team in mind.
