Wrong Decision (Sri Lanka V/S WI)
by rkdmumbai on Jun 11, 2009 11:59 AM  | Hide replies

wrong decision.
player hit a powerful shot and fielder touched the bowl inside the boundary line and went out of the boundary, jump in the air and push the bowl into boundary. Umpire gave no SIX nor Four. The Decision is wrong and therefore WI lost the match.

It doesn't make any difference on the result. But decision was wrong.
His first attempt was right because he attempted inside the boundary line, but he attempted second time when he was outside the boundary line which was wrong according to ICC rules.

dhoni following the foolish steps of sachin tendulkar...s.t. made a blunder in the matches of mum.indi. by sending the useless players ahead of good players and paid the price..now dhoni promoting himself against class players like raina, yousuf, yuvraj is absolutely ridiculous...kirsten should scold and slap dhoni and tell about his AUKAD...he is good to be at no 7.

Why Dhoni is coming in No. 3. ?
by Asim Mehtani on Jun 11, 2009 11:43 AM  | Hide replies

Why Dhoni is coming in No. 3. ? The logic is that, everyone knows that it is 20 overs match, and the first 5 overs are very crucial to build the good run rate, because the fielders are inside the circles. After 5 overs, the fielders are spread, and that period is to consoliadate further by 1 and 2, and also hitting boundaries in between. Again the last 5 hours become crucial to hit four or sixes to make the winning score. Presently Dhoni is out of form. He knows very well. Therefore, his plan is, in case the opening pair gives the good start in five overs without losing a wicket, then in case the wicket falls in 6-7 overs, then he will come in No. 3 to consolidate further by 1 or 2 in every balls. The last slog overs has been kept for Yuvraj and Pathan to consoliadate further by hitting fours and sixes. In case the first batsman of opening pair got out in 1-3 overs, then Suresh Raina will be sent in No. 3. Now this is a balance thinking, mixture of offence and defence.

Dhoni vs Sehwag
by Rajeev Singh on Jun 11, 2009 11:40 AM

I think, people r more keen about gossip rather than cricket. If player like Sewhag is injured,it's natrually a setback but it dosen't mean that we should start making a news adding some 'mirch masala' to it.Because except last 1 to 2 yrs (under Dhoni Captaincy)since 1987 the whole team were always depend on 2 to 3 individual players which gave opposite team a huge advantage but now the whole team look like a unit. And the player who get a chance in playing 11 always perform better than the replaced player. So it's a strength we have, and we should be proud of.

You may be right but the facts simply are against what you're saying and how can you assume that he is going to continue coming at no. 3? That past two matches were the only matches in which there was the scope of experimenting a little. What I understand is the aim would have been to take through from 6th over to the end and also whether you hate it or like it, Dhoni does possess the capability of hitting hard. It's only the matter of time, the man who strikes on the given day is the hero and all others become zero. That's what T20 is all about - it leaves a very little scope for consistency.

It was wrong decision.
Suppose a player hit a powerful shot and fielder goes out of the boundary, jump in the air and push the bowl into boundary. It's wrong. Whenever a fielder take a catch or try to stop a six he should be in the boundary line.

When he attempted second time he was out of the boundary, but according to ICC rules he should be in.

Remember the catch of ORam against India, he stayed at boundary push bowl in air, goes out of the boundary, come back in and take the catch.

According to yesterday incident he could go out of the boundary push the bowl in air and take it easily. Which is wrong.

Not Comprehensive win
by Amey Joshi on Jun 11, 2009 11:27 AM

Yes, Althoguh India won the match it wasn't comprehensive win. Their approch was casual approch. They could have well restricted Ireland under 100. But they never tried that way, they were far more relax. It is ok that they were fav to win, but still they should have gone with kill which they did not.
Also at some point their fielding was sloppy. Bhajji gave 15 runs last over which shows their approch. In batting it wasn't explosive if not bad. Also India really need to improve in their fast balling which is not upto the mark. We should include R P Singh in next match instead of Ishant. India should get rid relaxing against weaker teams or minnows. This is were Indians lack. Improve on this area and everything will be urs!
