Fine Tunings...
by f f on Feb 26, 2009 11:36 AM  | Hide replies

We can't have make-up bowlers in T20 like ODI.

In ODI, there are situations where part-time bowlers can play their part. But in T20, specialists are needed.

In this match, considering "Yousuf" to bowl 4 overs looked ridiculous! And as someone rightly pointed out, favoring "Irfan" just for his slight batting skills is thoroughly defensive approach (just for his knock in last T20 match against Srilanka! I hope India will learn their mistakes of sticking to 1-Match wonders as they did in past like Kanetkar, Rajesh Chouhan, etc! Why do they give so much signficance for one such accidental innings? It is better we learn whats required and whats not)

"Praveen" should find the place in ODI & T20 any day! There aren't enough bowlers who look consistent than him! If still needed, they can try some aggressive bowlers like Dinda, Gony...

India has forgotten the success recipe of their T20 World Cup! They had 4 aggressive bowlers and the remaining 1 bowler (Joginder Sharma) was also a full-time bowler if not aggressive.

At least India should try this combination for next T20 match:

Gambhir
Sehwag
Raina
Yuvaraj
Dhoni
Ravindra
Yousuf
Praveen
Harbhajan
Zaheer
Ishan th

In future, I would like to see Ravindra & Yousuf fighting for one place

Add to the last line, I would like to see Praveen improving his batting (but never never compromising any of his bowling skills), so that Dhoni can get that security of lower order batting. I don't think Dhoni has to be so negative about batting order and 7 Batsmen combination. Even Ganguly did the same mistake in the past by concentrating too much on this 7 batsmen formula. This is one area of weakness of both these captains.

Cricket in a rugby stadium........
by Anurag Rathore on Feb 26, 2009 10:36 AM  | Hide replies

How do you play cricket in a stadium made for rugby? How do you devise your strategies for a ground that gives a totally new
meaning to the term long-leg (it is the shortest boundary here at the AMI)? How do you stay focused on the game when the cold seeps through the trousers and makes the ball do crazy things?

The dimensions of the ground are tricky, agreed Mahendra Singh Dhoni. "You don't know which boundary to defend. You can't set orthodox or conventional fields here; you have to keep improvising," he added, without any malice.

Dhoni said right.........
by Anurag Rathore on Feb 26, 2009 10:15 AM

"I think most of the batsmen batted brilliantly, but the mistake we committed was that we went with the momentum. Maybe one of the batsmen could have realised that we had got off to a flier and stayed put at the crease," said Dhoni.

Positive: No batsman looked uncomfortable from the pitch, NZ bowling and weather as predicted by experts.

Negative: Over aggression.

We have emerged as a good team today because of our bowling.....Batting was good from before only....But selection of bowler like Irfan is not helping the cause....He does not have a line or lengts and seems that he is just throwing the bowl....He should be replaced by preveen kumar for the next matches.

Indian are Best doesnt matter we are from where and which region
by rakesh sharma on Feb 26, 2009 08:32 AM

In these days India is growing very fast comapred to other developed country. Whats are the reasons - its necessary to dig the reasons or not it depends on the normal peoples (public of India). I think the young Indian jenration will not interested to dig the reasons but they just want to continue this move carry on. We have a need to take our nation in the more right way.... I have one example- Before 25 years Taiwan as no existance in the World as country... no body knew it. But after getting some Independence from China or Japan this small Island start to develop under one Man---- the first President of Taiwan. He is like our Bapu in Taiwan. (I just Forget his name). So when a single man can develope his country with in 20 years then why we not. After all we have so many Politician, Presidents and other officer they have the power. Now its our duty to dig the reasons behave behind this slow progress. But not blaming that this is done by the south Indian or North Indian peoples. We are educated and have sense to understand everthing in better way. We ahve to learn from USA- that they can do anything to save their country and in past they did it so many times then why not us. We are the biggest power of the world only on papers. So at last i want to say that now this is time for the young peoples to take the responsibilities and make a god decisions in favor of our bright nation.. India

HAHA..yea, I expected this..

For all the fools who were amazed by Indian wins in sub-continent (home made) wickets and going ga-ga over this team will soon realize that this is the most hyped team and captain. Once they travel in NZ, Aus, SA, Eng - the original caliber of player and team is exposed. This is just the beginning, I'll be surprised if India can win more than 2 total games (out of all) against an ordinary NZ team. It's the same repeating story from ages. Last time it was Agarkar, this time it will be Irfan who will be taken to all corners of the park.

Unless we change wickets in India to have a bit of bounce and pace, this will continue.

They say it right, we have short memory: So here goes the recent away losses:
India lost against SA 2006(ODI, T20, Test)
India lost against Aus 2007(Test, T20), won ODI due to one man show (Sachin)
India Lost in England 2007(ODI series) won Test 1-0

India lost to NZ last tour

And this tour will be no different. keep hoping and praising, these idiots are over-hyped cricketers.

Also, our batters went for sixes and never looked in any trouble. They just gifted their wickets. So, it is not pace or bounce which did them in. But, yes i agree with ur irfan comment. Irfan needs to make way for praveen kumar.

We won CB series in Aus and T-20 WC in SA. It is just third tour of this team outside subcontinent which is not finished yet.
India is not invincible. People are expecting win in each and every match. Wait to finish the tour then reach any conclusion.

i prefer them learning lessions in T20 and ODIS rather in test matches.. The batsmen like Gambhir or Sehwag was out playing risky shots.. So thats not a worry..

I have no clue whatsoever why they are sticking with Rohit Sharma when he has failed several times in recent past in T20 cricket.
