Rohit Gurunath Sharma
by Muddasar Ali on Feb 25, 2009 10:22 PM  | Hide replies

Rohit Sharma is in the team. Not because I wrote he is a delivering performer, but bcos he is from Mumbai. Youth rules in the country. Being young is in, despite you perform or not. Oldies, move aside.

Alright, then here is dissection of this man’s performance in the ODIs. He is yet to perform in Tests and T20s doesn’t really hold that significance as its too short, so I wont count his contributions for now. Not that he has got a great record there.

One-Day International Career Batting and Fielding (2007-2008/09)
      M      I     &nb sp;NO      Runs      HS      Ave&nb sp;     100      50      SRate &nbs p;    Ct
India      35      34       9      637      70*   &nbs p;  25.48       0      4      73.64       15

Prodigies never average for under 26s for long. They get one defining moment and then the career turns around. 2 years for this man and that moment is still to come.

Enough is enough I think they should replace him with Jadeja who is a good all rounder, good fielder and a very good performar in domestic cicuit and IPL.

I think these "highly experienced" fellows thought it was a 10-10 match!!! I think all the praise that the NZ press gave them went to their heads.

Over confidence!
by Amit on Feb 25, 2009 10:01 PM

Team India looked over confident today. Indian batsman were trying to hit every ball out of ground as if they were playing some gully cricket. They need to learn fast that sucess comes after hard work and it is harder to keep it going. India has a good team and they just need a good planning and Iam sure they will come back strongly in second game

if the next match kiwis beat the indians then its a downhill
by tim jim on Feb 25, 2009 09:58 PM

Indians weakness was exposed they simply cant play fast bowling and kiwis fast bowling and superb fielding did the indians in. its shame that famed batting line up dhoni the dhobi ki dhulayee hogaye and gautambuddha yuvraaj all are busy dating and talking about IPL when they should concentrate on their country's match just goes to show this crap of IPL and ICL has ruined the cricketing world. Its ok to loose but to loose so bad was a shame hope they can win the remaining 20 20

Weakest kiwi Team
by Abha Advertising on Feb 25, 2009 09:32 PM  | Hide replies

This is the weakest Kiwi team India is playing, and its a shame they lost so badly, our players are tigers in the sub contienent, and chicken when they travel, this is just a artifical Indian team, without any basics, a true cricketer is a one for all weather all season, we dont have any in the present one day team except sehwag/Tendulkar others are just FLUKE CRICKETERS, like overrated actors these are a bunch of OVER RATED PLAYERS DUE TO MEDIA HYPE, THIS IS the start worst yet to come, Dhoni, its time to concentrate on cricket and shed out the play boy imagine, has been linked with all underrated actors of late so goes with yuvi get out of the play boy imagine, you are playing for your country

The last time our team went outside the sub-continent they won the CB series in Australia and had a respectable 2-1 defeat in the test series.

Don't judge them by one match.

Man, are you serious!! Its the first game they played. I agree Team India did not play well and I was disapointed too. But lets not go overboard everytime they lose. Its a sport, you win some you lose some and hopefully you learn from yous mistakes. This was the first game with no practice games, have some paitence...1 game does not make a team great or terrible

Hey, do you know that we were thrashed by Australia in the T20 that we played in Melbourne during the Aussie tour? But we came back and won the ODI series which is a tougher format than the T20 with more skills required.

Stop this nonsense. India is always not known to be good starters on tours abroad. They take 1-2 games to acclimatise (thats why they need practice games, damn BCCI!)... But its damn early to pass such comments like this

Teach some maturity
by vibhor jain on Feb 25, 2009 09:31 PM

I think the downfall started very early on in the Indian innings, when everybody thought they'll become Sehwag or hit 6 6's like Yuvraj, just because it was a small ground; the 'mature and world champion' Indian team forgot that NZ pitches are fast and bouncy and big hits tend to go high rather than flat.
NZ team, it being their homeground, understood this well and were restrained. Not everyone can hit sixes all round the park, everyone has a specific role to play. But players like Rohit sharma, Dhoni and Gambhir forgot that. Kudos to Raina for restraining himself

Dhoni said wrong in press conference--
by thomas varghese on Feb 25, 2009 09:06 PM  | Hide replies

India should play next match the same fashion. so aggressively. unfortunately we lost wickets this time. in T20 we should maintain this momentum. We have great batting lineup. so play tension free.thats the key. If we go defensive that will be the start of our failures in T20 and ODI and the tour will be similar to the last one.

I agree Rohit Sharma and Irfan Pathan played poorly and should be dropped for the next match, but please refrain from abusing them like that.
