Why Ojha is out
by Hot on Dec 27, 2009 07:44 AM  | Hide replies

It seems Ojha does not have a godfather among the selectors. He is being booted out after good shows. He was brought in after Amit Mishra did a poor show in the first test. After he contributed handsomely to the victory of India in the last two tests, he is now booted out and Amit Mishra brought in. This is India.

This is true in general of all bowlers. They never get the same opportunities as batsmen. Cast your mind back to the number of times Yuvraj singh failed, but continued to hold on to his position. Or, how long it took to drop Dravid or Ganguly from the ODI squad when in bad form. Gavaskar has commented on this many times, why bowlers get dropped so easily when batsmen get a long leash.

Take a look at Ishant Sharma: he's 20-21 years, very inexperienced. He's getting dropped because he was expensive. Can you really blame an inexperience bowler, bowling first-change (not new ball) when the opening bowlers have not taken any wickets (i.e. set batsmen)? Both teams were getting well over 300 runs in every game. Is Ishant really to blame? Sure, he has lost pace, and sure he has a lot to do to improve, but either pick him, or drop him from the squad. What is the point of picking and dropping him every alternate match? Like, why is he not playing today's match?

Amarnath's comments about selectors being a bunch of jokers rings true 20 odd years after it was made.

True question. Why the selectors selected Ojha & Jadeja together in the team? Why they selected Tyagi in the team when the team management were having no trust in him. They have called Ishant back and asked Tyagi to watch the games. Ishant is really a talented bowler and he shold be rested not dropped. He will be back for sure. Without an allrounder, India will never be a balanced one day team. Irfan Pathan and Jadeja can fill that roles. Each and everyone foolwc cricket in India knows it is not cricket behind the non selection of Irfan. Irafan is a better bat than Karthik and better bowler than lot of other Indian fast bowlers. India is playing with Karthik and Dhioni in same team and it is a shame. Bangladesh is another batsman's paradise. Hope poor Zaheer Khan will be remining fit for the world cup. This series is a good opportunity for trying out Manish Pandey & Bhupinder Sing.

His highest score in over 150 test matches is 248* against these minnows(Bangladesh) 5 years back.

Where else he will get such oppotunity to score a double century and break his own highest score? Of course the countries are - Bangladesh, Kenya,... :-))

If he is a real great cricketer, he should only play against Aus, SA, England on their soil. Othrwise, he should give chance to youngsters to grow.

Indain Bowling
by sachin goel on Dec 26, 2009 06:50 PM  | Hide replies

Why isn't Munaf been called...he is the only bowler who has control over line and can stick to a line and length.Rest all have no control..will bowl 2 good bowls and will give free lollies each over.I feel injustice been done to bowler like Munaf.he never got 2 series to play back to back. One bad match and he was rested.A bowler would atleast need 7-8 regular matches to get into rhythm

All politics. The so called seniors who have huge commercial contracts with companies who feed BCCI have been keeping away the young generation of rising cricketers like Munaf, Irfan Pathan, Kartik, Tewari ,...
