Ban on Benn
by SR Hari on Dec 18, 2009 01:04 PM  | Hide replies

As usual, a non-aussie is given a ban and the aussies are fined from their match fee. The aussies begin the altercation, instigate others, create a problem. Promptly the ICC (nay ACC) appointed match referee will hand in the penalty to all the players. Of course the degree of punishment varies. If the player is an aussie, some fine because of 'aggressive nature", if he is a white from another country more fine and if the other player is a non-white, ban for a match or two for bringing shame to the game due to on the field behavior.

This repeats during every series in Australia. Nothing new. Carry on ICC.

C Broad
by Ramdas Nayak on Dec 18, 2009 01:03 PM

This C Broad is a strong supporter of Australian players from the day 1 he was appointed as match referee. He never punished an Australian in his time. India Pakistan Sri Lanka and West Indies Boards should combine to protest against this biased Referee and insist for his removal from panel

Chris Gayle shud also be fined....!
by raja suresh on Dec 18, 2009 01:02 PM  | Hide replies

The judgement looks fair,If you see the footage we can clearly see that Benn was running towards the batsman who was trying to take a run from the non-striker's end and colliding with the batsmen delibrately...thats certainly not fair way to play cricket, and if there is any argument..then the umpires shud come in to picture and resolve it.But in this case, the player who did all the wrong is still trying to provoke the batsmen,Chris gayle shud be held responsilbe for this ugly incident. He needs to act as responsible captain,he too needs to be fined for this. And like always,Australin's are not at fualt this time...like when they were really at the wrong side when INDIA was there in Australia.

so what should Benn have done? step back and let johnson complete the run with a big smile on his face? every bowler will try to stop a single off his own bowling and the batsman will try to jump over/aside and run. thats exactly what both bowler (benn) and non striker (johnson) were doing today. and notice, haddin is not even involved till now. so why did he have to come along and instigate things?? isnt it because of him that benn responded? so then where is the justice in the sentence??

He should continue to do what he did and get rightly penalised. Clearly Benn was acting physically to block the batsman of that there is no doubt. It looks as if such incidents take place all the blames should squarely be on the so called whites. It is discusting to see the noise made on the Media on such a trivial incident.

Ban
by Mahesh Waran on Dec 18, 2009 12:52 PM

C Broad is well known for his bis against colored players. He has never banned and will never ban a white skinned player (unless of course the opposite palyer happenes to be a white). ICC need to dismiss him. All the affected players and countries should lodge protest and appeal every time to acheive this. Otherwise he/ ICC will not change.

This is not done
by Suresh K on Dec 18, 2009 12:51 PM  | Hide replies

Based on the "evidence" of the TV replays, it is clear Johnson and Haddin started this and Benn was clearly a victim in the situation. Every time, this Chris Broad seems to have a very "Narrow" version of the truth, and gives lower level offences to the Australians, especially considering that they are clearly the WORST offenders. I think we all have to condemn Chris Narrow for his repeated one side biased decisions. Is there any "offense level" for Match Referees applicable :-)

Good point. I'm sure if we see some more replays we will find enough evidence to ban the entire Australian team. :)

Beauty (or otherwise) lies in the eye of the beholder, after all. :)

Sorry. I actually didn't see the video. But I have learnt not to go by Rediff reports either.

A report in Times of India explains that Benn blocked Johnson and pulled his shirt to bodily restrain him from taking a single. That's where the trouble began etc.

But if you have your own thoughts after seeing the video, you are entitled to them, I trust.

ToI and Broad would have their own. Bowden and the other on-field umpire would have added extra intelligence too I guess.

And in any event Benn pleaded not guilty, and can still appeal the decision. :)

Hey my friend:

I see that you are back to doing what you do best. :)

Judging by the usual standard of your language, you seem to be in a positively holy mood today, eh? :)
