India wins when the whole team contributes, regardless of religion or caste. If only Khans could make a winning team, Pakistan should have been at number one spot all the time. not just in Cricket but all other areas. I don't see that happening.
I have one question for Sachin. He said it is the best Indian team of which he has been a part. True, but more or less the same team was available to Ganguly, Dravid and Kumble when they were captains. Why the results were so different in those days. One series that is striking is the India-Australia series. When Kumble captained, those two tests were drawn and in one India came close to losing. In the same series when Dhoni captained India won by huge margins. Yet all the commentators including Sachin the great are shy of recognizing Dhoni’s contribution. Is it because of the fear of losing out in the ad market, sheer jealousy or meanness. Irrespective of all this, the cricket fans are watching. They have a judgement of their own.

GET A LIFE MAN....THEY'R ALL LEGENDS IN THEIR OWN RIGHT..BE IT SACHIN,DRAVID,LAXMAN,DHONI,GANGULY,SEHWAG ETC. ETC....DON'T HAVE SUCH A NARROW MINDED WAY OF THINKING....ITS TIME TO RECOGNIZE THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF THE INDIAN LEGENDS RIGHT 4RM LALA AMARNATH TO MANKAD TO AJIT WADEKAR TO GANGULY,SACHIN TO DHONI'S TIMES....

Anuj, You are being emotional. The silence about the winning captain, one who is yet to lose a test, is too conspicuous to be ignored

Please explain the drubbing India took under Dhoni's captaincy in the recent series with a depleted Australian side. What needs to get into everyone's head is that Cricket is a team sport. When things fall in place (same team can perform differently at different times because of player form, probability, etc), the Captain gets lucky.

Ashish Kumar, The answer is the opposition: Australia, South africa ,Sri Lanka and West Indies HAVE BECOME MUCH WEAKER TEAMS. Thats why India has moved up.2 years ago Australia and south Africa, Sri Lanka had very strong teams, till a lot of retirements of legends took the quality of the these teams down. Dhoni is not special, he is a good captain.Byt if he was special how come India got kicked out of the Champions trphy and T20 world cup? This is my question to you Bihari babu....

kumble was spent force in last 4-5 test matches. so we were playing for only 3 bowlers.

all said and done but its under dhoni that india lost to aussies at home that shouldve been easy to defend as aussies were a depleted team yet they kickedbut ganguly was much much better, being a captain he had the courage to open dhoni comes in when the ball is old

None of the above answer my question. These are comments in their own. I am truly amazed on the conspicuous silence which is like a loud noise. I am not at all being emotional. It is a cool question for cricket fans. Under Dhoni India has not lost a single match.

u can't ignore the fact dat dhoni's captaining a side built up by ganguly....wid guys like bhajji, viru and yuvi at their best....thaz y i say they't all legends in their own right..

best answer to ur question is...ganguly gave chances to these players and let them grow with experience...now these players all all experienced..and legends in their own way...so wether dhoni is captain...or some1 else..results more or less will be same now...one important factor is how good motivator u r as a leader..dhoni is far better than others in recent past except for ganguly in home series against aussies..and kumble in away series against aussies..bcos ganguly used to get tense very soon wether fielding or batting..one of the greatest batsman in his own right but he was getting tensed again and again..but no such signs are evident in dhoni till now..he let the players play in their way in accordance to the strategy..so results are here...

i think indian captanship given to him after failur of msd
Sachin is angry over Yuvaraj. Yubaraj called him grandpa in media. Sach told I will reveal all the name of Yuvi in presence of media. Sach, take it easy.
ever. its bowling that is worry. unless bowling is improved, we cannot be no.1 for long. for winning wc 2011 also some good bowling options are required.

Sreesanth loses his temper n balance after every great performance. He is s mercurial bowler who bowls extremly well in match and follows it up with mediocre performance in subsequent matches. He bowled wayward in second match. History has shown that he has serious attitude problem after every good performance. Sreesanth needs to be nurtured exactly in the same way how Dhoni is nurturing him now. Any bowler was going to wipe out lankans in this match as they were under immense pressure. If it was sreesanth then who knows he would have shown some arrogance again. India needs sreesanth for longer duration and not for shorter stints.
If there was politics then Sreesanth wouldn't have been in the team
Re: Re: Re: indian batting is strongest
by exoticbronze on Dec 06, 2009 03:19 PM
LOL...so you are admitting that Dhoni kept Sreesanth away fearing that Sreesanth would be successful - especially since he was bowling a tighter line, bowling more maidens that Zaheer! So Dhoni is nurturnig him as a bowler by keeping him on the field but without let him bowl!!! Why did he include Sreesanth inthe team then?
Great logic! Where exactly did you go to school? United States of Bihar?
And dont you find it ironic that one the one hand you complain that Sreesanth "mercurial bowler who bowls extremly well in match and follows it up with mediocre performance in subsequent matches.", and on the other hand you are justifying not giving him chance to bowl in this test after being so successful in the last test! So you advocate not allowing Sreesanth to bowl even if he is the most effective seamer in the match following the test in which he was the best bowler, but then you complain that Sreesanth 'historically' is medicore after beign successful in the previous match.
LOL so if he is successful in the last match, and bowls a tight line in this match, you say remove him. And then you complain that he doesnt followup a successful performance.
In short, tie a person down, and then complain that he doesnt move!

Captain has the right to include anyone or exclude anyone from team. Sreesanth's selection came as a surprise as he did nothing great compared to others who were in waiting. Sreesanth was given chance coz Dhoni also would have wanted him in team. Don't forget that sreesanth is among those who have been groomed and ably supported by Dhoni. Please don't taint good intentions of Dhoni, Sreesanth and others.
