Sir Hadlee is absolutely right.Cricketers in India cannot do manmani. They should adhere to anti doping rules first. They are not Gods.Sachin and all had a ball for over 20 years and now they should do TIrthyatra

Ms. Neha don't bow to a bloody firangi. This guy was not available when New Zealand needed him during the 1987 World Cup, but came down to India 1 year later to get a world record. If this is not manmani, what is? I disagree with you. What manmani have the Indian cricketers done. Cricketers all over the world were not happy with the 'Whereabouts' clause. Even now these guys are hoping that by taking a stand, India will help them out.

Test cricket at a loss.
by Kumar Chakraborthy on Aug 18, 2009 01:35 PM  | Hide replies

All major cricketing legends are talking about Test cricket at a loss. Its true. Test cricket has lost its glory. Very few spectators are seen during test matches. It has become boring & nobody has the time to spend full 5 days in to-days fast pace world. So ICC should abolish test cricket & find some remedy. Even one day matches are less popular now a days after the invasion of 20/20 cricket. So ICC should make 20/20 cricket the no.1 cricketing format by inputting some more rules & regulations. Spectators are nowadays keen to watch only 20/20 cricket. Also ICC should fight with Olympic to include 20/20 cricket in their next event.

" ICC should abolish test cricket ","ICC should make 20/20 cricket the no.1", "Also ICC should fight with Olympic ".

All these sentences show your sport acumen.

The basic reason Test cricket losing audiences is because the scheduling is insane. Take India. India had a wonderful tradition of Christmas at Kotla, New Year at Eden and Pongal at Chepauk. I don't think there have been any Tests at this time for more than 20 years. This was a time for holidays and people could come. Now how many people can take time off to watch cricket in September or March, when the work pressure is severe. Also tickets are being priced very high. These are the reasons why tests are struggling in India. The reason for poor audiences in England is that the home team, except for Pietersen plays a brand of cricket that will put you to sleep. So the problem lies somewhere else.

Twenty20 is successful...
by Melba A Dias on Aug 18, 2009 01:33 PM

Twenty20 is keeping the players happy, spectators happy, generates more revenue so why should other format of cricket be given more importance??? C'mon Hadlee accept this wonderful change in cricket. Like football, let cricket also be fast pace game. We don't want to sit watching slow & boring 5 day Test or even 50/50 matches.

PASSAGE OF TIME
by madanmohan siddhanthi on Aug 18, 2009 01:30 PM

20/20 game will die in due course of time , as this game is devoid of any nuances of the game . The game is big hit not becuase the money it generates but becuase of the betting which goes on - may more than two digit time the legal money . It is question of time before the old dragon will hit - match fixing if it is not already there . Let all the countries ban their players like what we did to ICL , then sanity will prevail. See the way all historical sites in citi have been demolished with concrete structures - it is sheer greed .Today the BCCI and players are going thru the same .I am confident it will all end sooner or later .Yes ! the better.

i dont really knw what is happening behind the sceen.. but i agree that money shudn't kill the "sport cricket". because it can grow up to any extent and harmfull to everything. So the primary interedt shud be sports.. and then the businesss.

Richard Hadlee
by Pappu Bhai on Aug 18, 2009 01:29 PM

If Richard Hadlee was young enough to play in IPL then he would have taken the first flight to India to get himself auctioned to the highest bidder.

But unfortunately for him he cant get his hands on the IPL moolah, therefore he is sulking.
