Why accuse India?
by Balaji Krishnamurthy on Aug 18, 2009 07:54 PM  | Hide replies

I think Richard Hadlee protests too much. All the IPL asked was for a period when no international cricket is scheduled. By the way how much 20-20 international matches are played? Not many. As for India's interests being looked at by the ICC that's a laugh. India has had more problems with the ICC than all the full members put together. The ICC wants the money India brings in, but spare no opportunity to run India down. Same with Richard Hadlee. By the way this guy did not play the 1987 World Cup in India, but came here a year later because he needed a few wickets to become the then world record holder for Test wickets. He put his personal record above team.Such a guy has no right to preach.

Dude ..dont tell me that a crooked businessman like modi is spending his valuable hours for IPL just coz he loves the game.He is all out to make money at the cost of the game.I wonder what will be the shape of the game by the time Pawar moves out from ICC.Whatever Hadlee raised is a valid concern.

I have to agree with Hadlee unfortunately....poor players of or country are playing throughout the year...and definitely can't blame them either for not accepting WADA. It's BCCI's fault. More particularly...Lalit Modi's fault. And even more particularly his GREED !

One handed batting to be allowed soon
by Oomshik Tooshik on Aug 18, 2009 07:44 PM

If they choose to, batsman can hit one handed in t20 like a tennis racket. Big powerful bat one handed swing. *Thonk*

Modi's Greed
by vikas nair on Aug 18, 2009 07:39 PM

Modi's greed has destroyed Indian cricket.India has played only 3 Test matches this year even fewer than Bangladesh. In the future there will never be Dravids and Laxman.

T20 will create batsman who will use bat like an axe
by pradeep agarwal on Aug 18, 2009 06:49 PM  | Hide replies

The game is in grave danger of losing its entire foundation & usurpers like Modi are going to milch it for their greed. The game will never see likes of Gavaskar,Richards,Chappels or sachin if T20 is allowed beyond a limit. The base ball brand of cricket will ruin the very base of game & promote brute power over class

When Becker and Miloslav Mecir entered tennis, same was said about tennis. But now, look at the game. Federer, Nadal et al, are not just brute power.

It is just a passing phase and am sure this phase will pass too !!

Want ICC to be FIFA?
by Saibaskar Parthasarathy on Aug 18, 2009 06:43 PM  | Hide replies

Football for all practical purpose has become a club sport with only the world cup and its qualifying games becoming international games.. Compared to it we have Cricket being played to death by a handful of nations... at least presence of many clubs would mean more teams and more variety than these monotonous games which are being played currently... FIFA allows more club games and very little international games in comparison ICC is very reluctant to allow a window for club games.. The real issue Hadlee has is the color of money which is definitely not white currently in cricket..

you have no clue of what you are talking about... just check the no. of international games and NOT club games played between countries during last 2 weeks.. it is also obvious that you have not traveled.. outside the indian region and australia/england.. better %age know nothing about cricket.. fifa has more than 200 member countries.. icc??? get one thing clear.. football is a poor man's game and is played in every part of the world... hence its immense popularity ..cricket cant remotely match it.. and talking of color of money.. u r right abt it... may be that is what happened in the t-20 world championship.. no money.. no color and india gets pasted in every game.. oops...

Mr Sai, for your kind information, football played at the club level and at the international levels do not have 5 different flavours. It is still the same beautiful game. Yes there is a lot more money involved in club football, but no one has ever accused the football clubs of destroying the game of football. Thats the difference here. The issue with T20 is that it makes cricket less of a skill and mostly entertainment. you can argue all you want that this is how modern cricket will evolve and Test cricket will die soon, and I dont deny that it will happen for sure, but I think a lot of people are not happy with this particular form of cricket just because it is not cricket as we know and have loved it for generations. No one is denying that bringing in money especially into India is good, infact it is great!!
But I personally have a hard time accepting T20 as cricket. I would just call it a circus, complete with cheerleaders, music band and all. But that is just me.

its not just you, i dont dont watch ipl games, i only follow ODI and test... it is going to kill all skills... more and more players like dhoni will be produced who can only swing the bat but cant play a straight drive or cover drive with full loft of the bat...
