The only cricketer from India but not given enough support by media or his fellow cricketers Dravid truly represents a typical Indian working hard for no return because he cannot stoop low like some of his colleagues. He is highly respected all over the world for his sportsmanship which truly adds to the charishma of this great cricketer of all times

He would not have been ODI team if dada had not supported then and adjusted him as WC. What he did in return to Dada ,. Did he help him at all or was siding with Chappel?? Every body knows the truth. Do not be just regional supporter. Be Indian and support all Indian players ( from all the regions).

It was not any favour that Ganguly gave to Dravid. It is only the biased media which makes such stupid projections. Using a part-time wicket keeper to add strength to batting was an idea already floating around. India tried Sanjay Manjrekar earlier in the same role for a couple of matches. Now Blore team is trying to do the same with Uthappa in IPL. Even with Chappel, it was the media which created all the issues. In fact, Ganguly became a stronger test batsman only after being dropped. See how he played for the two years before he was dropped and how he returned. Somebody had to take the bold step, which nobody had the courage. But media created all issues unnecessarily.

may be true because Last time pre tournament underdogs Rajasthan royals went on to win the trophy this time Deccans are the pre tournament underdogs...history repeats

Dinesh kathik from chennai playing for delhi Rohit from mumbai playing for deccan Manoj tiwari from kolkota playing for delhi
Despite a very good performance in the 1st game and a decent one in the second, dravid is being sent at No5,which is obnoxious..A BATSMAN IN FORM SHOULD BE SENT IN THE TOP ORDER.HE DESERVES TO BE SENT AT NO3 AT LEAST..that is not good captaincy by pietersen...!!
Re: someone pls explain as to why dravid is being sent in at No 5
by satya on Apr 23, 2009 01:04 PM
Because he scored his 65 plus against rajesthan royals at no 5
This edition plenty of positives for Chargers and Team india... we know the 20-20 worldcup in england is around the corner.
RP SINGH - i know its too early but he should be picked for that, he always bowls well away from subcontinet definately a better bowler than Irfan pathan and even Ishant sharma in 20-20 format.
Rohit sharma - he is one man who always failed to live expectations when played for india, simple reason is his place is not secured, he gets into the side when some one is injured..but in IPL he has been sured to play all matches plus given the responsibility of Vice captain chargers...results are very much evident, mind u hitting 3 sixers of anilkumble in one over is no mean achievement, this has happened for the secend time in kumbles career, the previous one was during saeed anwar 194.
Deccan Chargers captain Adam Gilchrist on Wednesday heaped praise on his deputy Rohit Sharma and said the youngster from Mumbai is a 'class act' and is destined for more glory.
"He has been in great form last year as well and has done pretty well in the Indian one day and Twenty20 teams. He is a class act," Gilchrist said after the team's 24-run win against Bangalore Royal Challengers here today. "Rohit has taken his vice-captain's role very seriously and wants to be a leader some day and that is exciting," Gilchrist said.
Uthappa and kallis (He's not at all suitable for shorter version) should be dropped along with bishnoi and karan sharma. Dravid should come in at no.3(He's always been the best batsman for me right from the first time I saw him in 96 England series.). Taylor,Boucher should be included. If it requires dropping steyn and including some good indian bowler (even Akhil is a sensible bowler)that is agreeable.

they made a poor trading this edition by giving away Zaheer khan to mumbai while grabbing out of form Uthappa.
added to that they are not trying some good local players ie Goswami & bhuvaneshwar kumar
U19 winning world cup wicket keepr batsman goswami..good batter
whlie 18 yrs old Bhuvaneshwar kumar took 5 for in the first innings of ranji trophy final 2009 in hyd, where Sachin was one of his victim infact sachin in his entire ranji never had a duck before this ..this man is a serious talent..he can bat well as well.

Fully agreed! Taylor and Boucher should come for Kalis and Steyn. They can play with another Indian pacer whoever is available there. Peterson, Ryder, Kumar and Kumble are bowling very well there. But it seems they have very few bowling option. Uthappa can come later in the inning for quick runs. Dravid can bat with Ryder, then Piterson followed by Taylor, Boucher, Uthappa and others!
When Pietersen leaves the IPL in early-May due to England commitments, South African Jacques Kallis will take over as captain for the rest of the season.

I think Rahul likes this. He gets double benefit: 1) he stands vindicated. He had a reasonable IPL last year. 2) No pressure on him. This IPL, quality counts more.
