On Friday, Ganguly’s fans burnt posters of Bollywood star and Kolkata Knight Riders’ owner Shahrukh Khan here. They blamed him of being the culprit behind Ganguly’s replacement as a captain.
The team SRK and Buchanan manages have the name of KOLKATA. SRK has brought Team which was supposed to be from Kolkata and represents regional player of Eastern India with some mix of foreigners and other parts of India. So the players who will give all-out for the Team will be the local ones and the others will be the hired one to add the bench strength. This is how other teams like Mumbai, Hyderabad, Punjab, delhi etc. are and they are all then spiced up with some name by their franchisee. So any move to thrown out the locals from respective team means showing the COLOUR OF MONEY and playing with their local fans who support. Simiarly the best one to captain these teams are the Local lads, not someone who lacks full-time comitment and come to earn money. The thinking and man management which Ganguly will do for the team will be more than what Buchanan / McCallam/ Gayel/ Ponting / Hussey etc. as they are not attached with the Team name or the local pride. After all short dhamakas by others, it was Ganguly who performed best for the KKR in last IPL. So it is time the locals of the Team, leading by Ganguly do something which will have a great effect on the earnings of this team and SRK / Buchanan/ McCalam/ etc. etc. can't earn a pie using the local sentiments.

SRK already removed Kolkata from his teams name, its now known as KR, check his promotions and advertisements.
i think sourav is even more popular tha srk in kolkata. handing over captaincy to mc'ullum is a wrong decision. srk is owner of kkr but he must know that ipl is an indian origin and sourav is a successful captain then how can he handed captaincy to any foreign player. it a very bad news for srk and his upcoming movies which is to released in kolkata.
With the way Buchanan and SRK were giving interviews to media this was coming. The reason why they did not declared the captain in India was that the bengalis would have created a big furore in Kolkata. SRK avoided all that and slowly removed Ganguly, so that it didnt come as a shock.
Bengali's have created scenes before in international matches like WC 1996, then when Ganguly was dropped again there were protests. This method of SRK was to avoid all that. And there is nothing to feel bad about KKR like RR is a company whose owner can remove or retain someone he wants as a captain. Dravid too was removed as a captain but bangalorean's didnt come out on roads to distrupt normal life and same goes for VVS, even in the last IPL he was in between removed as a captain.
i dont have problem with multiple captains or McCullam being captain. however, what surprises me is why Ganguly still there in the mercy of SRK?
whatever it is, SRK is the owner of the club and he has invested money in it. it is not a public company which he bough on people's stocks.
is money so important? i am not a fan of ganguly or Bengalis either. however, why is so called prince of Calcutta is still there without proper respect? why these cricketers go to such a low level to earn money? last year, Vijay Mallya shouted at Dravid infront of national TV Camera.
Our media, crazy and emotional fans, personalities like Farha Khan and Karan Johar made these SRK egomaniac. King Khan? what the hell are you talking about? an actor can be king only in acting, not in number of hits or money making.
I am a regular viewer of rediff cricket blogs.. But after reading this article, I am forced to write my feelings..
Really SRK has played a game here. He wished not to offend any Kolkatta locals by not removing Dada from Captaincy fearing that he may suffer audience support if played in Eden Gardens. We all know that the team owners get revenue from the crowd attendence. As the IPL had shifted to South Africa, he moved on with McCullum as he don't have to fear any locals or so..
I feel pity for Dada the way Indian team and other officials had dealt with him.. I wish Dada has to replace himself as a commentator who is good in communication and start criticising the players who are in the middle :)
Shah Rukh Khan has played with the sentiments of the people of bengal. While he and the team was in India, he committed to Gangulay being captain and now when they reach africa, he changes colours. he listen's and trusts the words of an Australian and insults the Icon of India by this disgraceful act. If Gangulay was not to be captain, it should have been discussed with him and declered before the team left for africa. This announcement is done badly and though i never was a fan of Shah rukh, i for one positively will never respect a cheap fellow and a turncoat like this. Kolkotta should burn his effigies and ban his films from showing in bengal. That will teach him a lesson and kick him in the balls where it really hurts.
