The fact is that his strike rate was over 100 and he had scored the maximum runs for KKR.

Captaincy series wins abroad against quality opposition Pataudi one series win Bedi and Wadekar 2 Series wins each against mighty of their times. Azar Ganguly one each against quality oppositiom
but Ganguly Captaincy only series win gainst PAK abroad was shared so credit is devided between Dravid and Ganguly. Dhoni and Gavaskar one each against mighty side of their times Australia. Verdict- Ganguly was not most successful captain as projected by eastern journo and fans. As he captained for much lomger time with support of then Dalmiya. But he could not achieve what Bedi, Wadekar, Dhoni, Gavaskar achieved in shorter duration as captain.

I THINK GANGULY SHOULD BE CAPTAIN OF VETRAN CRICKETERS 20-20 , HE IS TOO OLD FOR PRESENT DAY 20-20. 37 YRS AND STILL PLAYING CRICKET . RIGHT NOW HE IS GREEDY AND PLAYING FOR MONEY ONLY. HIS PAST RECORD IS FABULOUS . HE SHOULD JOINT RAVI SHASTRI AND GAVASKAR CLUB.

U are absolutely blind. Cricket doesnt go with age. If you are fit and u can play well then forget about age.People like Jaysuriya at 39 still plays and the Sri Lankans are proud of that. they respect that. In India there are many peoples like you who dont understand cricket and speak whtever dat runs in ur mouth. Speaking of Ganguly.. he's by far the most UNFORTUNATE people in the world who after doing tons of good to Indian cricket got only hatred and disrespectful behavior. This is also in fact true that north and the west's have never supported the goodness of ganguly ( except a few ones). In short WE ARE NOT UNITED. AND I CAN DAMN ARGUE ON THIS ISSUE THROUGHOUT MY ENTIRE LIFE.
SRK is a guy who puts money b4 national pride. How dare he insult a national hero. He is licking John Buchanan's shoes when John was ridiculed by his own team. When will these Indian stars show some respect towards Indian heroes. I saw Priety Zinta talking to Brett Lee but did she even say hello to any of our Indian cricketers.

This is the basic nature of white brits. they want to suck us and eat away our money in a brit way. That means they will not work under any non-white guy such as Indian, but will leave no opportunity to suck on us when possible. These brits looted our country for over 200years and left it ruined. Some Indians kissed their whatever and allowed them to destroy us for long. I thhought such Indians were wipped out for ever but it appears they are living like KING KAN!

Gr8 analyst - but did you know that still in any form of cricket Strike rates dont decide the match but runs do? So denouncing 349 with SR 113.68 with other crap runs with higher strike rate doenot work out logically! So in your logic a guy scoring 6 runs in ball he faced in the whole tournament will be the champ... isnt it?

by this logic, mitchell johnson should be australia's best batsman in ODI's and test cricket because he has the highest strike rate. simply a dumb anal-ysis.
Shame on SRK for supporting a foreign coach Buchanan whom even his countrymen dont hold in high regard as a coach( see recent comments from Shane Warne and Mcgrath )
KKR Fans are upset because Ganguly was removed after being the highest run getter for KKR last season and taking a few crucial wickets...... Ganguly's captaincy also was praised by several KKR players.Of course his team could not perform because some foreign stars like Ponting underperformed and Chris Gayle got injured.
With this act of supporting Buchananan over Saurav , SRK showed his true colors like his friends across the border ...
Re: Whats wrong with you Ganguly supporter???
by sumit mukherjee on Apr 18, 2009 09:35 AM
Has Saurav even reacted to this announcement? Why is he being unnecessarily viified in this episode? In fact, Saurav has gone on record stating that McCullum is an excellent choice as skipper. It's only some people on this forum who are being fanatical about this matter. But, are you any different from these fans? You are also reacting without thought.
Re: Re: Whats wrong with you Ganguly supporter???

Mr Plumber...ur name suggests ur brain size. Had SRK replaced Dada with Hussey, it still would have been OK. McCullum doesnt have the experience of being a Captain, and his one 100 score shouldnt gurantee him IPL stardom. I know he is a good 20-20 player but a Captain,,, No Way. Criteria for an IPL Captainship: Senior player, IPL Experience, Best performer of the lot, Availability for entire tournament and not just a Pseudo Captain for Coach. Dada fits the slot perfectly. By his IPL performance, well he was best of the ICON players, winning atleast 3 Man Of Match awards.. Leaving apart Dada and Hussey there weren't any star performers. How could have team won consistently? DAda shouldnt have been the captain.. and its very sad to see SRK and Co. do this...

I dont understand all this fuss about. How can any coach or owner keep a captain after coming 6th out of 8 teams?
Bengalis made a fuss when Ganguly was removed not selected for team India.
My advise to all Dada's fans is put your own hard earn money and buy a team and make Dada your captain and keep him forever even if you loose. No one will stop you.
Dravid and Laxman were removed and they took it sportingly, I wish Ganguly should display some sportsmanship and be dignified and support the decision and play criket.
Agreed Ganguly would still make a better captain than McCullum, but is he good enough to be in the playing 11 just as a contributor?
The message is straight, KKR dont want Ganguly's place in the playing 11 to be taken for granted...
And if his pride is really hurt. He should quit. I will have more respect for him then.
And if your(fan) pride is really hurt. Dump KKR...support some other franchise ;)

A ludicrous post to say the least. Regional bias is so apparent in this post. I have nothing against McCullum being captain of KKR. Good luck to him. But i have serious reservations about Saurav's name being unnecessarily dragged into this and creating a controversy where none exists! Saurav has gone on record and stated thet McCullum is a good choice as skipper and he would be happy to contribute to KKR in his new role. What is wrong with that?! Please do get out of the tiny well that you live in and see the whole wide world around you.

My name will itself suggest to which part of the country my roots are. Just FYI, I have been living in New York for the last decade or so. Before that I have been born and brought up in Delhi all along. There are few things I would like to tell you: 1. Show me one report where it is stated that Ganguly sulking. On the contrary this website itself reported that Ganguly and Buchanan addressed the press together and Ganguly accepted it well enough. May be this is the result of your over imaginative brain.
2. It is hard earnED not hard earn. And obviously you cannot distinguish between loose and LOSE.
3. It is unfortunate that people like you think of Bengalis, Gujratis, Punjabis, Sindhis so and so forth, first before thinking being an Indian.
Re: Re: bengalis
by Analyst on Apr 18, 2009 07:20 AM
1. perhaps you didn't watch the press conference Dada and Buchnan did together. Dada couldn't make eye contact once with camera, then his body language was more than obvious. Also check his comments later on he said - lets see whether this theory works and stuff!
2. chill ;)Ok I can't disinguish between loose and lose. But is that the point? Typical Indian politician mentality. Never stick to the point. If you can't find enough problems in the argument try to lay him low by pointing to some other irrelevant short comings.
3. What makes you think that? Its just that there is a trait common to a certain community that I am highlighting. And if you are Indian first why are you trying to draw attention to yours root, your name and which part you come from?
Re: Re: bengalis
by prashant kumar on Apr 18, 2009 08:57 AM
Frankly IPL is all about money and the person who has invested money got all the rights to pick his team as well the skipper Sentiment got no business there.I am sure SRK wont be liking to loose there so if Ganguly doesn't fit with the plans and stratifies of the Team then its not a bad Idea to give Captain ship to other who is receptive to Team Management thinking. Saurov Ganguly should realize he can't arm twist his ways as he use to at the time of Dalmia and Left Government of Bengal. Both are not in position of strength any more .These players allowed themselves to be auctioned like slaves , so whats the big deal if they getting booted?
Re: Re: Re: bengalis

Does the article give any reaction from Saurav? No it does not. Nor does it state that he is upset about this. Why is he being vilified by you?
Re: Re: Re: Re: bengalis

Its pathetic how some boarders like Analyst, Anil think. Its sort of sick mental state which bring Bengali thing for every discussion with Dada. I am from Delhi and have been in UK for last 5 years, but i simply love Dada and his cricket. I dont think there is any common trait based on relegion, region. Grow Up ppl!!
Shahrukh Khan is most hated person in Bengal. He went against Bengali people quite a few times now. Last year he sent back 6 Bengali players to cut the cost but kept non performing Ppakistani players in team.
This year again he removed Kolkata from the KKR wordings and then removed Ganguly from the captaincy.
If Shahrukh Khan is upset with Ganguly and Kolkata then why his movies should be shown in West Bengal? Why last year he was requesting Ganguly to talk to Basu for tax exemptions. Shahrukh Khan is fooling whole India in the same way but Bengali people has seen his true colors in last 2 years.
I can say this confidently because I witnessed many KKR matches last year and seen change of behavior from SRK when they started loosing.

gunguly should come out of KKR otherwise this gives wrong message that he plays for onlymoney, bengali pride is not important for him before money.and also if he resigns this gives a big slap on sharuk.

Re: Shahrukh Khan has to pay the price for this
by Analyst on Apr 18, 2009 06:38 AM
has shah rukh khan bought this team for bengalis?
Are the bengalis funding him?
If shahruk khan incurs losses are the bengalis going to share it?
"If Shahrukh Khan is upset with Ganguly and Kolkata then why his movies should be shown in West Bengal?" isn't this comment funny? its simple dont watch his movies...his movies will get off screen soon. But again please dont resort to force.
"Why last year he was requesting Ganguly to talk to Basu for tax exemptions." Your company pays you...you are obliged to return favours, return to your boss within the right of law. Similarly shahrukh pays Ganguly. makes sense?
I am to be honest more a Gangulay fan..btw..and i can't stand shahrukh movies. I only liked his one movie Swades...till date
Re: Re: Shahrukh Khan has to pay the price for this
by SUMIT BANERJEE on Apr 18, 2009 08:44 AM
Bengalis are not funding him but bengalis are his teams sole customer and if bengalis decide to be unhappy they have right not to support his team ,,,,,and if they dont nobody else will resulting in team being sold to some other resonable investor.SRK doesnt know that even without following a victory wont count for anything.
Re: Re: Re: Shahrukh Khan has to pay the price for this
by Sameer K on Apr 18, 2009 12:00 PM
Bengali's sole customer !!!, Bengalis cannot give him his investment, it will be the sponsors who will eventually break even his investment and led his team to profits. FYI KKR didnt make profits because of business or sponsorship, SRK last week in a interview in Mumbai clarified "We made the most money because our players didn't play last year so we didn't pay them. We did not make the money because of the profits. Players like McCullum, Ponting, Gayle went away so we didn't pay them all the money. All that money got saved."
Check mid-day newspaper online and u can read that interview.
