football is the greatest game invented by man.If India wants to make its mark in the sportsworld and show off its sporting prowess,it has to give importance to active, vigorous games like football, hockey etc. Cricket is a passive, timepass game. icc tried to popularise it by spending huge amounts of money but failed. It seems that cricket will be confined to very few countries.Eventually it may die out in 30-40 years.
CRICKET IS NOT DEAD IN INDIA BUT TEST CRICKET IS FADING DUE TO FLAT PITCHES WHERE BATSMAN CREATES USELESS RECORDS AND ALSO DUE TO DRAWN TESTS.I THINK PITCHES SHUD BE CHALLENGING FOR BOTH BATSMAN AND BOWLERS.20-20 IS A GUD FORM OF ENJOYMENT.IT IS FULL OF THRILL AND ENTERTAINMENT BUT SOME TEST MATCHES R ALSO THRILLING LIKE INDIA VS ENGLAND CHENNAI TEST.TOO MUCH OF 20-20 CRICKET WILL BE BORING.TEST CRICKET HAS ITS OWN THRILL TO CRICKET LOVERS.IN 20-20 CRICKET MOST PLAY GILLI-DANDA HELICOPTER SHOTS WHEREAS SHOTS PLAYED IN TEST CRICKET R CLASSIC AND STYLISH

try playing a test match. those who say cricket is for lazy should play for 5 days, and know the difference. there's a sport faster than soccer - its basketball. actually people laze around in soccer too. the ultimate sport is probably triathlon....
damn shame you dont know how it is to play cricket.
Popular games usually lasts for 1 hr 30 min. Introduce 10-10 cricket and finish off in 1 hr 30 min. Other wise it will make countries, its people and economy lazy.
Re: Make Cricket still shorter

pitch should be such that in 10 overs all 10 wickets must fall then only the real fun will be there like antigua
Re: Re: Make Cricket still shorter
by pravin sarode on Apr 11, 2009 10:43 PM
green grass like out field should be on the pitch also like nagpur 2004 pitch when saurabh ganguly got sick ness on seeing grass on the pitch & asked rahul dravid to face the assies in return assies hit 362 runs in 90 overs all out in day one at nagpur like this all pitches must be result oriented & maximum bowler friendly not like indian wickets or like bald head of sehwag the takalu

i agree. pitch needs to b prepared to become bolr friendly. else one-sided matches or simply slogging by non-quality players is boring.
All popular games run for approximately 1 hr 30 minutes. Make Cricket to last for 1 hr 30 minutes ie introduce 10-10 matches. Then only Cricket can survive other wise it will be played by lazy countries and make countries & its people lazy.

all wickets must fall then only game will be more funny & attract crowd so grass on the pitch has to increase not like BCCI asking new zealnd to prepare indian like pitches for indians just now in 2009 there has to be scope for bowler also to get quick wicktes & turn the match win-win

Indian viewers will run away from cricket when india loses. Good that viewers have noticed that BCCI is even manipulating other countries, this is worse than betting

abt ind team, it can b said that its best compared to other world teams among contemporary ckt playing nations across the world.
but its not the best of all time. as its rather decline of other teams' quality. even ajit wadekar in his statement said that his team victory in nz, 41 years back, was much better against the quality opponents.
so ind is better compared to all other teams right now playing test ckt, better than even ausis. but not the best of all time.

well said.indians are winning because the quality of cricket around the world is going down due to decrease in interest in the game.
Re: Cricket Dying Sport???

although, lara may b wrong in ind context. but in a way, he is right if v take his comments for longer versions like test matches with 5 days of dull boring ckt 'with no result at the end of mandatory overs.'

that means you never really understood the game in the first place....to not like test cricket and understand its core.....well feel sorry for you
It is interesting to read some messages comparing number of youths playing/following cricket in other countries. If others like football more and Indians prefer cricket than any other sport , what's the problem ? Is there any rule that one HAS to watch cricket for obtaining Indian Citizenship?
Re: What is the problem if Cricket is most followed sport in Indi
by Ajai Jacob on Apr 11, 2009 07:08 PM
my dear tambe, the problem is that this is a globalized world era.if one country follows only a game like cricket patronised by very few countries around the world,it will be marginalised in the larger world of sports. WE have to follow games like football which is patronised by most of the world countries.

don't care a damn if other countries marginalize us, we can watch what we only love and Cricket is the most loved game in India, atleast for me. Don't give me that football crap again.

check out our population. we have enough for cricket, football, olympics, tennis and much more. Problem is Govt (all) and politicians (all). Not any sport.
