no wonder

a sport that takes 5 days to complete yet gives no result...a sport that starts from the morning and ends in the evening (50 overs)...its difficult to find a fan following if ur fans are employed...only the unemployed and students and retired people can watch it...its true its a difficult sport...but i guess it has too many rules and complexities...the reason why today it isnt anywhere close to football in terms of global popularity...
cricket is def no childs play....but we viewers want something which gets over in 2-3 hrs...that we can watch on our way home from office...who really cares abt the technicalities...
the sooner the ICC wakes up to realise that people dont have much time in todays world...the better it will be for the survival of this sport...
as for me...its always been football...i know our countrys rank is 147...but i still love the game...

1. Flat pitches
2.Dearth of true heroes—players who skillful and are pleasant to watch.
3.Over hyping ordinary cricketers
4.IPL—which is a business event, not an sportive events as its organizers trying to tell us
5.Too much cricket---well everyone knows, “too much of everything is bad.”

True, and I would like to add a few more:
1. Unimaginative tactics /strategies employed
2. Lesser test of patience

india is enough to keep to this sport alive!
by sunil babu on Apr 10, 2009 08:39 PM

with so huge following and people all the time watching and talking cricket... its amazing sport for us in india. ofcourse people also wath other sports, but only big ones, like world cup/ euro-soccer or grandsalm tennis events...
with so many people living in this country, and most of them liking the sport, there is always money for cricket here; and its a lot for the whole world, i guess... people will watch any cricket match on TV and more so if it is live...

Cricket is dying because of 2020
by Guest on Apr 10, 2009 07:50 PM  | Hide replies

The cricket is dying because corrupt batsmen and stupid viewers have destroyed the bowlers. Tendulkar has used his influence to make pitches for batsmen which have made bowlers useless. His records have been made in indian and asian pitches which are antibowlers,so on 20% of his records can be counted.

Cricket is dying sure but you can say its test cricket and T20, instant result is what draws crowds this days. But what has Sachin got to do with this. You should be nuts to talk about his records which the entire world is amazed about.

What non-sense.
Dear friend why accuse just for the heck of it.
As regards to Sachin , you can just go on and on maligning him, without any effect though

Better become one soon. With so much money at stake, all illegal and immoral activities have crept into this great game! At least, I am not going to be part of it!

cricket is boring and sluggish sports
by attacker on Apr 10, 2009 07:08 PM  | Hide replies

public got more attracted to t20 as compared to one days.. bcoz its faster thn the later. still t20 is too slow compared to poer sports.. indians r so obessed with cricket tht they are not aware of the njoyment in power sports like football, tennis etc... especially people living in small towns. media shd spread awareness for sports among lazy indians... we indians r always updated for latest fashion, dresses, food.... but whn it comes to sports we r not versatile... we r still living in 1980s... indians need to grow up in the field of sports..

Attacker,

Do you mean cricket is played by lazy people?

Try bowling at 140 kmph for 5 days under the hot sun and then tell...and if you have balls enought to be the batsman the bowler(without wetting your pants) then tell me.

I have played State level and I know what it takes!

Or for that matter, just stand in the slips cordon for about 30 minutes may be without loosing concentration even once! forget prooving you have balls to bowl or face @ 140kmph

Agree with story editor

The speed of the ball should not be calculated as the speed which it leaves the hand of the bowler. It should be speed after pitching. The speed calculation now is sham. It is valid only in baseball and tennis. WE are being fooled by the manipulator batsmen.
